Just a day away from its release on June 29, Rajkumar Hirani’s <a href="http://wionews.com/india-news/entertainment-sanju-trailer-releases-internet-explodes-with-hilarious-memes-around-the-film-141044">Sanju</a> has come under the hot wheel as the CBFC asked the makers to delete one controversial scene from the film. The film’s trailer featured a toilet leak scene from the jail which many thought was gross for the appetite of movie watchers. An activist identified as Prithvi Maske even wrote a letter to the CBFC asking to get the scene deleted before the film hits the theatres.&nbsp;

A source from the CBFC revealed, “The scene wasn’t adding value to the narrative besides displaying the helpless situation of the protagonist. It was a judgment call taken from an artistic point of view which the filmmakers agreed to.”

Maske is now a happy man as he said, "I was constantly taking legal advice on the matter. It is not favourable that something that shows the country and its administration in the wrong light, be passed. I was in touch with the CBFC and they assured me that my objection would be taken up with the makers of Sanju and addressed. The reason why the scene was cut is confidential information and will be given to me in a response, officially signed by CBFC chairperson Prasoon Joshi.”

As much was spoken about the overflowing prison toilet scene, director Rajkumar Hirani explained to a tabloid why the scene was put in the first place. He said, “The scene is from Sanju’s earlier stint in jail. It happened in 1993, during the monsoon. On that particular day, the drain in his cell overflowed due to heavy rains.” <a href="http://wionews.com/india-news/entertainment-watch-ranbir-kapoor-as-munna-bhai-in-new-teaser-for-sanju-will-leave-you-amazed--146328">Watch </a><a href="http://wionews.com/india-news/entertainment-watch-ranbir-kapoor-as-munna-bhai-in-new-teaser-for-sanju-will-leave-you-amazed--146328">new</a><a href="http://wionews.com/india-news/entertainment-watch-ranbir-kapoor-as-munna-bhai-in-new-teaser-for-sanju-will-leave-you-amazed--146328"> teaser of Ranbir as Munna Bhai.&nbsp;</a>

The Bollywood industry can now officially label this year as the year of high-profile celebrity weddings with many popular stars tying the knot, some in secrecy while some with much pomp and vigour. Walking down the aisle next is Shweta Tripathi of the fame Masaan and Haraamkhor, both films that did well at the box office and earned the actress critical reviews from the pioneers of the industry.&nbsp;

Shweta Tripathi is scheduled to get married to her longtime boyfriend actor-rapper Chaitanya Sharma aka SlowCheeta on June 29 in Goa with close friends and family in attendance. With a shared love for theatre, diving and football-- the couple hosted a pre-wedding function last night in Mumbai as they strengthen their 5-year-old relationship into a matrimonial bond. With last-minute errands and trials, Shweta spoke to WION about her wedding, romantic proposal that swept her off her feet, films and more.&nbsp;

Shweta and SlowCheeta (Cheeta as she refers to him in the interview) met because of theatre. It all started when they worked on the same theatrical play called The Interview directed by Akarsh Khurana -- who has written screenplays for Bollywood films like Krrish, Kites and the most recent being Irrfan Khan starrer Karwaan. Shweta narrates that it happened as they “stepped in for two actors who were not free.” Akarsh, meanwhile, told SlowCheeta about her and said “you guys should totally hook up” as “she’s damn cute and single”.

Shweta had no idea that their director played cupid in their relationship for a long time. Shweta said, “I owe a lot to him. The first invite for my wedding went out to Akarsh.”

<img alt="New (1)_2.jpg" data-entity-type="" data-entity-uuid="" height="430" src="http://images.wionews.com/iniline-images/New%20(1)_2.jpg" width="770" />

SlowCheeta proposed her with a self-written poem that he recited on stage in the presence of a lot of people. She said, “I had no clue about it. He told me he was doing a play and I always go for every play that he does, so I went with a friend for the first-day-first-show and realised that it was more than just a performance.”&nbsp;

A fan of his writing, she said, “One of my favourite things about him is that he is able to capture the emotions so well. His one-liners in conversations are so good that when we do an interview together I just let him talk as I just want to listen to him.”

Not many know that Shweta is older than her fiance. When asked if the age difference was ever an issue, she replied, “He is the younger one but I always feel that I am the younger one. Once when his dad’s friend was watching TV, one of my ads played when his father said ‘Do you know this is Cheeta’s girlfriend?’ And that friend went like ‘Isn’t she too young for him?’ Everybody forgets I’m older. They never bothered.” She added, “You don’t fall in love with things like height or age. He is 6 ft tall and I am 5 ft.”

Commenting on another hot couple, Priyanka Chopra and her rumoured boyfriend Nick Jonas, Shweta laughed and said, “Even if it's good or bad, let her enjoy that phase. I think it’s great and if she’s happy then we should be happy.”&nbsp;

What made Shweta and SlowCheeta choose Goa for their wedding? Shweta replies with “it’s one of our favourite cities in the country.” Beach lovers, certified divers and shared love for the ocean made the couple pick Goa. Shweta will be seen wearing Papa Don’t Preach lehenga in bright colours of mint and hot pink for her wedding. She will then change into a floor-length gown by Rebecca Dewan for the pool party that follows the wedding rituals.&nbsp;

The two then plan on going on a honeymoon much later in August to Amsterdam as SlowCheeta wants to visit the place with her -- even though they just went to the city for their respective Bachelors and Bachelorette party. “We will then head to Italy and&nbsp;London where we plan on watching a football match together as he is a football fanatic,” she added.

Shweta postponed her honeymoon plans as she will be busy shooting for TV series The Trip season 2 with Mallika Dua, Sapna Pabbi and Amyra Dastur in July. She will also be making her Tamil debut soon with Mehandi Circus in which she plays a north Indian girl named Mehandi, born and brought up in a circus family. She is also a part of Gone Kesh, in which she plays a 15-year-old girl who aspires to become a dancer even though she suffers from alopecia -- a rare disorder in which you lose all your hair. The film is said to follow the character’s life journey from the age of 15 to 24. Shweta calls it her “favourite character” when asked which character of hers would she label that. She answers that after adding, “It’s always my last film.”&nbsp;

On how she chooses her films, Shweta replied, “I always get attracted to stories and characters. If it doesn't excite me I won't do it just because it’s commercial or paying me more. For me, quality is more important than quantity. I want to experiment as much as possible, as an artist I don’t limit myself.”

As we wrapped the interview, for she had to rush to attend to other wedding engagements, she revealed who she likes among the Bollywood actors and the answer was none other than “Ranbir Kapoor”. Among the actresses, she picked “Alia Bhatt” and commended her on the “choice of films."

India had called the report &nbsp;“fallacious and motivated”.

"Human rights record of the Indian Army is above is above board," the Army chief said while slamming the UN report, adding,"people of India know the truth."

The UN report said there was an urgent need to address the past and ongoing human rights violations, "any resolution to the political situation in Kashmir should entail a commitment to ending the cycles of violence and accountability for past and current human rights violations."

"Report on the Situation of Human Rights in Kashmir: Developments in the Indian State of J-K from June 2016 to April 2018, and General Human Rights Concerns in Azad J-K and Gilgit-Baltistan" said despite the government of Pakistan's assertions of denial of any support to these groups, experts believe that "Pakistan's military continues to support their operations across the Line of Control in Indian-Administered Kashmir".

The report said, "the people on both sides of the Line of Control have been detrimentally impacted and suffer from limitations or denial of a range of human rights."

The report asked for urgent repealing of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1990(AFSPA) and had criticised the Indian Army alleging it committed human rights violations in J&K.

The Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) may<a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/entertainment-film-artists-associaton-reinstates-actor-dileep-in-amma-146843"> have reinstated actor Dileep</a> into the association but his inclusion has drawn severe criticism from the various quarters.&nbsp;

The actor who has been accused in the abduction and molestation case of a Malayalam actress was suspended from the association last year when his name cropped up in the case. He was subsequently arrested and spent 85 days in Jail before he got a bail.&nbsp;

The annual general body meeting of the association took the decision to take back Dileep following strong pressure from members.
&nbsp;
An actresses` organisation expressed its displeasure over the reinstatement of the actor`s membership in the Association on Tuesday and the move has been slammed by political leaders as well.&nbsp;

Senior Congress MLA, P.T. Thomas, who was one of the first to know about the actress kidnapping case in February 2017, and had reached the victim`s side before informing the police, told the media on Tuesday that AMMA should reconsider its decision on Dileep.

"It is now very clear that only a handful of the artistes were genuinely with the victim. Those leading lights who took part in the protest meetings held the next day of the kidnap attempt in Kochi, were only shedding crocodile tears.&nbsp;

"Not a single one of them was supporting the victim. It`s now time for the Kerala Assembly and the state government to react," said Thomas.

The Women in Cinema Collective (WCC), irked by AMMA`s decision to revoke the suspension of Dileep had put out a Facebook post on Monday.

"If you have decided to revoke the suspension... what has changed after he was suspended?" the WCC asked AMMA-led by Malayalam superstar Mohanlal.

"Do you know that you have decided to take back someone who is alleged to have been involved in a rape and the trial is yet to finish... don`t you feel anything at all?"

Popular actress Rima Kallingal and her husband director Ashiq Abu were the first to voice their displeasure.

Many were surprised by the manner in which around 385 artistes of AMMA who met in Kochi last Sunday, did not utter a word when actress Urmilla Unni asked if Dileep will be reinstated. None spoke up or against it as Dileep was taken back into the fold.

In fact, several reports stated AMMA members want showcause notices to be given to Dileep`s former wife Manju Warrier, Parvathy, Remya Nambisan and Rima Kallingal of the WCC, who are also part of AMMA. These actresses have openly criticised Dileep and had demanded his suspension from the association.&nbsp;

However, AMMA`s general secretary Edavela Babu has maintained a silence on the matter.

The actor has been reinstated into the film body though he is the prime accused in the abduction and molestation case of a Malayalam actress.

As the first batch of Amarnath pilgrims arrived in Udhampur on Wednesday morning, heavy security had been deployed in the as part of the "biggest-ever" security blanket thrown to secure them.&nbsp;

Forces have deployed a huge assortment of CCTV cameras and about 500 drones, assisted by mounted Army columns, to ensure that the yatra route is not breached by terrorists and in case of a possible attack, reinforcements reach as fast as possible.

Vehicles tagged with electromagnetic chips, bike and bullet-proof SUV police convoys and scores of bullet-proof bunkers have been added.&nbsp;

A posse of over 40,000 armed CRPF and state police personnel have virtually dotted the yatra routes from Jammu via Pahalgam and Baltal-- with their overwhelming presence in armoured vehicles.

Over two lakh pilgrims have registered for the annual pilgrimage to the 3,880 metre high cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas till now.

"All security arrangements have been made. We have cross-checked every contingency. We're using latest technology and vehicles, and manpower has been increased as compared to last year," A V Chauhan, Inspector General CRPF Jammu Sector, told ANI.

The security personnel have made new additional arrangements, such as RIFD (radio frequency identification) to track the vehicles and prevent them from getting lost. Bike ambulances have also been introduced for speedy first aid or medical assistance.

"There's no specific threat as such, only general safety concerns. But, we're ready for any kind of attack. On the highway, we have rendered safety from the Improvised explosive device (IED), ambush and any possible terror attack. We are regulating a lot of technology backed items in providing safety to the pilgrims," added Chauhan.

The official said "all" security forces camps in the state have been asked to stay on alert as militants may try to target them after witnessing heavy deployment of uniformed personnel along the yatra route.

On July 10 last year, at least nine Amarnath pilgrims were killed and 19 others were injured in an attack on a bus in Anantnag district.&nbsp;

Call it blackmail but the US is expected to demand that India buy their THAAD or terminal high altitude area defence system when Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj land in Washington next month for the 2+2 dialogue. &nbsp;

The Americans want India to dump the Russian S-400 missile defence system, of which India is buying 5 regiments for $5 billion even though negotiations are more or less complete.&nbsp;

India's answer is expected to be no, which means the US will invoke CAATSA or Countering America's Adversaries through Sanctions Act against it. &nbsp;

India could face the full weight of American sanctions unless Defence Secretary Jim Mattis and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo are able to convince the US Congress that India deserves a waiver. They may in turn demand a commitment from India that it pare the Russian weapons and weapons platforms used by its military.

India has been diversifying its weapons sources away from Russia, but no foreign country can tell India what to buy and from where. &nbsp;

The S-400 after all is widely acknowledged to be better than the THAAD.

Handa was on Monday remanded in police custody for four days.&nbsp;

Police said Wednesday that they had not yet found the weapon used to kill Shailaja.&nbsp;

Shailaja had been found dead with her throat slit in Delhi's cantonment area on June 23. Police said her killer had repeatedly run over with a car to try and mask the crime.&nbsp;

News reports later said Handa had been obsessed with Shailaja — that he had made 3,000 calls to her in one year — and had been trying to convince her to leave her husband and marry him.

Handa is married himself.&nbsp;

Police however added that they have 'done 90% of the work' and were close to cracking the case

Delhi Police said Wednesday that Major Nikhil Handa — who is accused of murdering a fellow officer's wife — has been giving them "misleading information day after day". But they added that they have "done 90% of the work" and were close to cracking the case. "Accused Nikhil Handa is giving us misleading information day after day. We have done 90% of the work and in coming days the truth will come out," DCP, West Delhi Vijay Kumar said. News reports meanwhile quoted police as saying the first person Handa had called after allegedly murdering Shailaja Dwivedi was a woman friend he had met on a dating site. Major who killed fellow officer's wife 'giving misleading information day after day': Police

In a vibrant democracy like India, the role of media is unquestionably very prominent. Media, in a democracy like India, can freely express its views and can bring facts at the fore. For ruling class, media still is a strong watchdog it can make or break things.&nbsp;

Remember Watergate scandal during the early seventies in the USA? The US media (The Washington Post, Time, and The New York Times) played a major role in triggering public repercussion. Ultimately, President Nixon had to resign.&nbsp;

During British rule in India, Indian nationalist used print media as a very potent and effective tool to build pressure on Britishers. Renowned freedom fighter Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi became an unequivocal mouthpiece of all observed classes under British rule in the then Northern Provinces through his newspaper 'Pratap'. During his initial days in India during 1919-1931, Mahatma Gandhi used his weekly newspaper 'Young India’ to spread his views on national movements as nonviolence at its core&nbsp;

At times media leaves an impact, which is everlasting. As an ultimate mark of expressing resentment and atrocities post declaration of Emergency on June 25, 1975, Indian Express came out with a blank editorial on 28 June 1975 an act which has almost become immortal.&nbsp;

Coming to contemporary times, having seen Indian politics for close to three and half decades, it is quite apparent to me that media is a severe and no-holds-barred critic of the ruling class. The reasons have been simple and straight.&nbsp;

First, unethical ruling and political class always gives ammunition to media to build a tale around it and secondly people (readers) are more receptive towards anti-establishment stories, as being anti-establishment is a sign of audacity and trait of being rebellious is admired by a common man.&nbsp;

But the most amazing and unique thing is that despite being in power for more than four years now, Modi still enjoys an unparalleled support from media. It is even far better than the media’s patronage, enjoyed by the Vajpayee government during 1999-2004.&nbsp;

As history suggests us that media has the power to build the decisive narrative. It was Indian Express group of legendary Ramnath Goenka, which played a key role in flooring Rajiv Gandhi and Congress in 1989, in spite of the fact that  Rajiv came in power with the historic mandate in 1984. If political forces were coalescing behind VP Singh, it was Goenka who cornered Rajiv and Congress through his publications Indian Express and his Hindi daily Jansatta. Goenka led newspapers convinced people aboubt scandals like Bofors and Fairfax.    &nbsp;

Years later, during the UPA-2 regime during 2009-2014, electronic media exposed the flurry of scams, which initiated serious repercussions from the people. Congress was left clueless and beleaguered. This, when coupled with Modi waves, resulted in the most humiliating defeat for Congress in 2014. &nbsp;

But Modi has been exceptional. Though it has been a mixed bag, overall Modi’s media approval rating must be highest among all previous governments (after completing four years at the helm). The reasons are palpable. Modi stands firmly in the reign and so far he has not given a single loose ball to build a story around it.&nbsp;

The weak and fragmented Opposition is also one reason that Modi enjoys such high approval rating for media. In the race of virtuousness, Modi almost always marches ahead of leaders sitting in Opposition and trying to pull him down.&nbsp;

BJP’s media cell is doing an excellent job and there is a legion of erudite and forceful orators, who defend Modi and BJP with perfection at media forums. They normally outclass their counterparts in opposition parties.&nbsp;

Opposition parties have been picking some issue or other (like demonetisation, GST, Jay Shah, Una, JNU, Rohit Vemulla etc.) over the past four years in a hope that they can build a nationwide resentment against Modi but they have been failing consistently and the stand of media has played a key role behind this.&nbsp;

This media rating of Modi would play a decisive role in 2019. Opposition parties are exploring their chance to usurp power in 2019 like united opposition did in 1977 and 1989 but in the process, they are ignoring media’s position. In 1977 and 1989, media was on the platform with them but surely it won’t be the case in 2019.&nbsp;

Media in any civilised society is the reflection of mood of the nation and people, and this very fact sums up that how Modi is well pitched against all odds and against all Opposition parties.&nbsp;

India has flatly rejected a survey that named India as the most dangerous country in the world for women. The survey in question was carried out by the Thomson Reuters Foundation. Its report is predicated on responses from nearly 550 experts - from Europe, Africa, the Americas, South East Asia, South Asia and the Pacific.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday launched a new scheme under which a person can apply for a passport from anywhere in India irrespective of the place of stay.

The minister also launched a mobile application, available in Android and iOS platforms, that would have the facilities for applying, paying and scheduling appointments for acquiring a passport.

Under the new scheme, launched on the occasion of the Sixth Passport Seva Divas, a person can now choose the Regional Passport Office (RPO) and the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) for submitting the application.

The application can be submitted irrespective of whether the person's present residential address was within the jurisdiction of the selected RPO or not, a Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) statement said.

The police verification, if required for a specific passport, would be conducted at the address specified in the application form, it said.

The passport will be printed and despatched by the RPO selected for application submission by the applicant to the address specified in the application, the statement said.

For example, a resident of Jaipur, who is temporarily residing in Kolkata, will now be able to apply at a PSK or POPSK under the RPO, Kolkata, and will not have to travel all the way back to Jaipur to submit an application for a passport at a PSK or POPSK under the Jaipur RPO.

This citizen-centric initiative of the ministry is expected to benefit the applicants who are unable to apply at a PSK or POPSK near their ordinary place of residence, the statement said.

With the launch of the 'mPassport Seva App', a person would not require access to a computer and printer to apply for a passport, the MEA said.

Swaraj, while speaking at the launch of the initiatives, said there had been "revolutionary" changes in the process for applying for a passport.

There were 77 Passport Seva Kendras made available in 48 years, while 231 more were added in the last 48 months, she said at the event attended by Minister of State for Communications Manoj Sinha and Minister of State for External Affairs General (Retd) V K Singh.

Noting that at present there were 307 PSKs in the country, she announced that at least one PSK or POPSK would be made available in all the 543 Lok Sabha constituencies.&nbsp

Swaraj said unnecessary requirements for a passport have been scrapped since she took charge of the ministry, including doing away with marriage certificate.&nbsp

Nearly 60 foreign terrorists among 243 militants operating in J&K: Police

Gitanjali Gems promoter Mehul Choksi, a key accused in the multi-crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam case, today moved a special court here seeking cancellation of a non-bailable warrant (NBW) issued against him.

His lawyer Sanjay Abbot moved the application before special CBI court judge J C Jagdale.

In the application, he claimed that he cannot travel because of his medical condition.

The diamond merchant also claimed he was unable to disclose his current location as he was facing a threat to his life from various persons.

Mehul&nbsp;Choksi said that he never sought to avoid the investigation or the probe agencies and had duly responded to all the communication that he received from the investigating agencies.

He also contended that his case was completely different from that of his relative and billionaire jeweller Nirav Modi.

Choksi said the Enforcement Directorate attached his assets after registering a case based the first Central Bureau of Investigation FIR pertaining Nirav Modi even though he (Choksi) had got nothing to do with it.

After the hearing, the judge directed the CBI to file a reply and posted the matter for hearing on July 11.

The special CBI court, after taking cognisance of the second charge sheet filed in the PNB fraud case, had last month ordered the issuance of the NBW against Mehul Choksi.

The issuance of the alleged fraudulent letters of understanding (LoUs) is said to be the crux of the mega financial fraud.

An LoU is a guarantee which is given by an issuing bank to Indian banks having branches abroad to grant a short-term credit to the applicant.

In case of default, the bank issuing the LoU has to pay the liability to the credit-giving bank along with accruing interest.

Nirav Modi and his uncle Choksi are among the main accused in the fraud case pegged at over&nbsp;Rs.&nbsp;13,400 crore. They have been booked in nearly half-a-dozen cases related to the bank fraud.

Mehul Choksi and Nirav Modi are said to have left the country before criminal cases were lodged against them in February.&nbsp;

News of Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi's secret gurudwara wedding in May had taken everyone by surprise. Not just the news of their wedding but also the fact that they were in a relationship was not known to too many people.&nbsp;

Dhupia who recently appeared on a chat show revealed that the two never officially dated and that their romance was a bit 'old school'.&nbsp;

Talking about how it all started with Angad, Neha reminisced: "Angad proposed to me in the nicest way possible wherein he went straight to my parents and then my mom called me saying that he is the nicest guy for you. But back then, I thought it wasn`t the right time and said no to his proposal."

"He never wanted to date me as he was very certain that I will either be his friend or his wife. Ever since we have known each other, we were good friends and nothing more than that.&nbsp;

"But on May 3rd this year, he asked me to come with him to Delhi. He dropped a hint that we need to settle down and proposed marriage in front of my parents which came as a surprise to both my parents and me," she added.

Neha is naturally quite smitten by Angad's style of romance.&nbsp;

When she was asked if there's any habbit of Angad's that annoys her, Neha said, "He never completes a fight. Like every couple, we have our fair share of fights, but the point of the fight is to find a solution or at least finish it. But Angad just walks out of the house and goes on a drive while I`m still at home wanting to finish the fight."

The couple, who had a Gurudwara wedding in Delhi and soon left for America on a work trip has not hosted a reception so far. They have hosted a small house-party which had the couple's friends in attendance.&nbsp;

News brief: Big stories of the day

Army chief General&nbspBipin Rawat&nbspon Wednesday stressed on exploiting cyber space for advantage of defence forces, saying the "tech-savvy" terrorists operating from across the borders are using it for their benefit and if the armed forces don't stay ahead of them, they may never be able overcome terrorism.

Addressing a conference on cyber security here, the Army Chief said the cyber space is important not only in conventional warfare, but is equally relevant in the sub-conventional warfare or proxy war.

"We must also develop niche capabilities to disable the adversaries' system. Today, the terrorists operating against us from across the borders are very tech-savvy. They are exploiting cyber space for their advantage. If we don't stay ahead of them, we will never be able to get over the phenomena of terrorism," Rawat said.

He also noted that China is ramping up its capabilities in the cyber warfare.

Addressing the conference, Lt Gen&nbspSatish Dua, who is the Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC), said there was a need to tweak the defence strategy and factor in cyber threat.

"Radicalisation is the most potent by-product of cyber warfare. Terrorist organisations have moved their propaganda online," Dua said.&nbsp

Meanwhile,&nbsp<a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/un-report-on-jk-is-fallacious-tendentious-and-motivated-india-144344">Rawat called</a>&nbspthe latest report of the UN on Kashmir as "motivated" and "biased".

Last week the&nbsp<a href="http://wionews.com/india-news/allowing-un-report-on-kashmir-was-failure-of-govts-foreign-policy-congress-146581">UN had released the first-ever&nbsp</a>report on alleged human rights violation in Kashmir and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and demanded an international probe into it.
