The Pakistan side was asked to return the two officials along with the official car to the High Commission immediately.

The Pakistani media reported that the two Indian staffers were arrested by Pakistani agencies for their alleged involvement in a "hit and run" case, but there was no official word on it from Islamabad.

Monday's incident comes two weeks after India expelled two Pakistan High Commission officials here on charges of espionage. India had declared Abid Hussain and Muhammad Tahir as ''persona non grata'' after they were found obtaining sensitive documents relating to the movement of Indian Army troops from an Indian national, according to authorities here.

Following their expulsion, Pakistani agencies started harassing several Indian High Commission officials in Islamabad including charge d'affaires Gaurav Ahluwalia.

An AirAsia pilot, fitness blogger and a digital influencer, Gaurav Taneja, has been suspended from the airlines following a controversial video that the pilot posted on his YouTube channel - Flying Beast.

Gaurav Taneja was an an Airbus A320 captain with AirAsia India. In his vlog posted on June 14, he alleged the airline of violating several safety protocols and endangering lives of passengers on board.

His main allegation about the company is that Air Asia India does not allow the employees to take sick leaves and does not follow proper security protocols, among other allegations.

He claimed that the company made him work on his off days when he claimed his sick leave. He further explained how the top management of the airlines got involved and complained about his rare sick leave request.

The Captain was asked to undergo lifestyle counselling and medical tests again, which Gaurav claims was a trial at tainting his reputation.

"When I started protesting against this, the chief of flight safety said in an email that I report sick and fatigue frequently. They (management) also suggested undergoing lifestyle counselling and medical," Taneja said in his video.

In his video, he gave a detailed explanation with dates of how the events unfurled. From March to June, he talked about various points where the airlines have ignored the health and safety guidelines onboard. He even mentioned his efforts of raising the issue on 22-23 March for about 40 minutes as safety-related guidelines were not being followed by the airline.

He claimed he raised the issue with higher authorities, but there was no response from the company. Fearing the lack of safety, he decided to not fly on March 24.

On 4 May, I was shown a show cause notice which stated that the company incurred losses because of my actions. It was clear administration issues were labelled on me. It was clear that they are unhappy with me for pointing out safety lapses," he said.

The pilot had been hinting about his revelations in his recent tweets where he claimed that there was a specific reason behind the surge of articles related to Air Asia India's safety procedures. Following that, he was suspended from his job, and he later posted the video explaining the reasons behind his suspension.

He claims his contract with the airlines has been brought under the scanner by using the excuse of post-COVID budget cuts. However, the real reason, he claims, is that he dared to stand against the company and the lack of safety protocols.

While the number of coronavirus cases has been on a constant rise in the western state of India, the government has decided to allow students to return to their classrooms from July.

The decision has been taken only for the schools located in the non-red zones, and only for selected classes.

As of now, students of only classes IX, X and XII will be allowed to go back. In addition to the schools, the attendees, including the staff and students, should only be from the non-red zones (non-containment zones).

Classes VI to VIII will be allowed to resume classroom teachings from August.

The schools will have to make sure everyone wears a facemask at all times, and all norms of social distancing are followed.

The decision was announced after School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad met the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

"Classes of Standard 1 and 2 are exempted from online teaching. However, for remaining standards certain hours per week have been defined by the government. We are trying to use All India Radio (AIR) network as well to reach out to students with the curriculum," Gaikwad said.

Indian govt sources have said that they had offered foreign secretary-level talks with Nepal on boundary issue ahead of placing of New Nepal Map Coat of Arms Amendment bill but Nepal govt went ahead with it in the Parliament creating a "difficult situation".

Sources said, "As recently as the bill was tabled in the Parliament, we offered a foreign secretary-level phone call, video conference and also visits of two foreign secretaries however the Nepali side did not respond to our offer and went ahead with the passing of the bill"

Adding, "We don't know why Nepal PM Oli and his govt did not inform the Parliament or Nepali people our offer of talks. This was offered".

Over the weekend, the Constitutional Amendment bill to amend Nepal's political map in the country's coat of arms was presented in the upper house of Nepali Parliament and passed by the lower house. The new Nepali Map shows Indian territories of --Lipulekh, Kalapani, Limpiyadhura as its own.

Sources said, "Unilateral action of PM Oli and his administration to revise the map of Nepal without facts or pieces of evidence points to primary motivation that it is driven by domestic political agenda and it has created difficult situation and pre judged outcomes of any talks" and " it is up to them to create conducive and positive" atmosphere for further talks to take place"

India, Nepal shares 1750 kilometres of land and riverine border. In fact, Nepal's claim to Limpiyadhura was raised after 200 years. Meanwhile, strong intervention by the Indian mission in Nepal led to the release of Indian nationals taken in custody by Nepali forces. Friday saw the killing of one Indian national by Nepali forces at the border in what has been described as "local altercation".

DMK President MK Stalin questioned the ruling AIADMK government over its handling of rising Covid-19cases in the state, as Tamil Nadu had surpassed 44,000 cases on Sunday. The Opposition leader was addressing journalists via video conference.

He questioned the government on reasons for a steep increase in positivity rate in the state, the plan of action for flattening the curve in Chennai, refusal to collaborate with opposition parties, on the pre-emptive economic revival plan, budgetary allocations and also regarding why the government hasn’t put forth solutions found by expert committees in the public domain.

Stalin suggested that Tamil Nadu follow the Kerala model, where the localities with a very high number of cases could be sealed and groceries, essentials home-delivered. He also added that people remain indoors, wear masks while stepping out and also maintain social distancing. He also accused the government of attacking the common man during a crisis, by hiking fuel prices, at a time when crude rates were relatively low. He also suggested Rs.5000 as an essential cash relief for all ration cardholders and lashed out at the government for moving too hastily open TASMAC(state-run) liquor outlets.

However, it is noteworthy that MK Stalin did not take any significant questions from the journalists of offer substantial solutions for overcoming the crisis, despite multiple requests to the organizing team. There were a plethora of questions raised by many journalists abut alternative solutions, ideas, and also specific issue-based questions, all of which went unanswered. The only response was that the party would conduct similar virtual media addresses in due course.

WION had publicly (as instructed by the organizers) questioned in the chat window about the DMK’s alternative to the handling of the crisis. The questions were as follows - “Lockdowns have indicated that they can delay the spike in cases, slow the spread and prepare the infrastructure. But there’s an economic(livelihood) cost to it, in the present scenario, would you recommend a lockdown in Chennai/ Tamil Nadu or what is the alternative? If going in for a lockdown, how would the economic impact be dealt with?”

In response to the comment on the ruling party having opened liquor shops, despite the DMK’s opposition and protest, WION highlighted what a senior DMK leader had said on the liquor shops re-opening issue. A senior DMK leader had stated that the breweries owned by their party would continue to supply liquor to state-run outlets until the government shut down all breweries. WION had questioned the DMK President on his stance on the same (where the party protests opening of liquor shops and their leaders run breweries which supply liquor). However, the brewery business is regarded to be a duopoly between the leaders, those in close-ties with both major parties in Tamil Nadu - the AIADMK and DMK.

Many other reporters too had questioned the DMK over any special instructions issued to their cadre, after the unfortunate demise of party legislator J.Anbazhagan, who had succumbed to Covid-19, which he is said to have contracted during the distribution of relief work for the needy.

Some even raised questions about how the Opposition party would have handled this unprecedented crisis differently and whether the party had instructed the hospitals owned by their leaders to reserve beds for Covid-19 patients. All of these went unanswered in the Virtual Press Conference.

As on Sunday, Tamil Nadu has recorded a total of 44661 Covid-19 cases, of which 19,676 are active. The state has so far seen 435v casualties and there have also been reports of under-reportage of deaths, which the officials said were being reconciled. Of the total cases in the state, 31896 are recorded in Chennai, with the capital city alone having 14667 active cases. Roughly 10% of India’s total recorded cases are in Chennai city.

If going in for a lockdown, how would the economic impact be dealt with?” In response to the comment on the ruling party having opened liquor shops, despite the DMK’s opposition and protest, WION highlighted what a senior DMK leader had said on the liquor shops re-opening issue.

Indian govt sources told WION that the Pakistani diplomat was handed over a demarche in which it was made it clear that there should be no interrogation or harassment of the Indian officials and the responsibility for the safety and security of the concerned diplomatic personnel lay squarely with the Pakistani authorities. The development comes days after two Pakistani officials at Pakistani high commission in Delhi were expelled by India after found spying by Indian authorities. Abid Hussain and Tahir Hussain, working in the visa section of the Pakistan high commission were nabbed while they were engaged in the unwanted anti-India activity.

It is believed since then Pakistan has been trying to find reasons to expel Indian officials on same charges in a tit for tat.

Back in 2016, India had declared one Pakistani high commission official Mehmood Akhtar as persona non grata after being apprehended by Indian law enforcement authorities while receiving sensitive documents.

According to Indian govt in a statement made in the parliament December 2016, during his interrogation, Akhtar revealed that he belonged to Baloch Regiment of Pakistan Army and joined Pakistan's spy agency Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) on deputation. He was posted at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi since September 2013. The Pakistan High Commissioner was summoned by the Foreign Secretary with India registering a strong protest on the activities of Mehmood Akhtar.

In a bid to level the score, Pakistan declared an Assistant Personnel and Welfare Officer in the Indian High Commission in Islamabad Surjeet Singh as persona non grata.
