<p><strong>Ayodhya Ram Mandir Consecration:</strong> The Ram Lalla idol was finally unveiled on Monday (Jan 22) during the consecration ceremony, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.  </p> <p>The temple has been built after a struggle of nearly 500 years that included a heavily contested court case. The foundation stone of the temple was laid in 2020 and nearly four years later, the temple is standing in its full glory, waiting for the devotees. </p> <p>This blog has now been closed. </p>

As the grand temple of Lord Ram was being consecrated at his birthplace in northern India's Ayodhya, celebrations also erupted over 3300 km south at Seetha Eliya village in Sri Lanka. The place is believed to be the site where Sita, Lord Ram's wife was held captive by demon King Ravan.

Prime Minister invoked Ram Rajya by hailing the temple consecration as a moment to "lay the foundation of India for the next 1,000 years".

"We take the pledge to build a capable, grand, divine India from this moment," he said. "'We have untied our complicated past," Modi added.

Describing Lord Ram's divinity, Modi said:

"Ram is not fire, Ram is energy
Ram is not controversy, but a solution
Ram is not just present but perpetuity."

"The Pran pratisthan today is of human ideals, of the highest human values. It's just not a temple. It's a temple of India's philosophy, ideals, esteem, policies, perpetuity... We have to rise above ourselves," Modi added.

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat invoked the arrival of 'Ram Rajya', the ideal of all states, following the conclusion of the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. 

Bhagwat said that "we all citizens will have to follow the path of Ram". "We must live together in unity with dharma, humility, service and gratefulness," Bhagwat said.

"Everyone else have their own choices too. We all must live with patience. It's the patience that holds the weight of Earth."

Bhagwat also invoked Mahatma Gandhi while calling for the virtue of discipline amongst citizens.

The Indian diaspora chanted Jai Shri Ram at New York’s Times Square, marking celebrations ahead of the grand consecration ceremony in Ayodhya temple city. The iconic place was illuminated as the diaspora donned traditional Indian attire and sang songs. Moreover, pictures of Lord Ram were also displayed on the screens at Times Square.

Taking to X, Government of UP said, "In Shri Ayodhya Ji, making it a global affair, the consecration ceremony will be graced by 92 invitees representing 50 countries as state guests. Besides, there will be 15 'yajmans' drawn from different social groups to accompany the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM will reach the temple around 11 AM and remain inside the complex for about three and a half hours for the ceremony, followed by his public meeting. Music instruments from 25 states will be played for nearly two hours to produce 'Mangal Dhwani' before the start of the rituals at 12.20 pm.  The entire city has been decorated with over 2,500 quintal flowers."
