Season 3 of the International League T20 will begin on Saturday (11 January 2025). The 34-match tournament will run for a month with the final to be played on Sunday (9 February 2025).

The Season 3 window announcement comes at the back of a hugely successful Season 2 (2024) which concluded with the MI Emirates lifting the iconic DP World ILT20 trophy in front of a capacity crowd at the Dubai International Stadium in the final played on 17 February 2024.

The broadcast numbers for Season 2 received a major boost with a total of 348 million unique viewers from around the world via the tournament broadcast right holders Zee Network’s linear and online platforms and their broadcast syndication partners in different territories.

Season 2 also saw a major increase in crowds across the three tournament venues Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah. There was a phenomenal increase in crowd numbers across the three venues, with a cumulative increase of nearly 300% in comparison to Season 1.

Season 3 will once again provide the spectators at the three stadiums and fans from around the world – on linear and online Zee Network’s broadcast platforms and partners platforms – enthralling cricket action with a line-up of world-class T20 talent and exciting entertainment offerings for fans from all age groups.

The third umpire&nbsp;was called&nbsp;to check whether the fielder had touched the boundary line&nbsp;or not. However, third umpire Michael Gough upheld the on-field decision to give Samson out on 86. Fans&nbsp;were seen&nbsp;fuming at the decision&nbsp;while&nbsp;Samson&nbsp;was unable to&nbsp;challenge the decision as it&nbsp;was already referred&nbsp;to the third umpire.&nbsp;

The RR skipper&nbsp;was then seen&nbsp;arguing with the umpires&nbsp;but&nbsp;with no option left,&nbsp;he had to leave the field.&nbsp;Coach Kumar Sangakkara was also seen frustrated with Samson's dismissal and temporarily asked Samson to hold his walk.&nbsp;

The wicket took its toll on the outcome of the match as DC won the&nbsp;match&nbsp;by 20 runs as they restricted RR to 201/8 in their 20 overs. After Samson’s dismissal, RR went from 162/3 to 201/8&nbsp;which&nbsp;saw them lose five wickets in 4.2 overs and add just 39 runs.&nbsp;

The Bangladesh captain said picking up the fight with Mathews and Sri Lanka helped the team raise its game as well.&nbsp;

SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) created an unwanted Indian Premier League (IPL) record during the match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 6. SRH gave away 19 extra runs inside the powerplay during their bowling - the most for any team in the league. The previous highest extra runs inside the powerplay were 16 which were given by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2023.

Defending a modest 174 at Wankhede, SRH bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave away 13 runs in the first over including four extras. South African Marco Jansen came on to bowl the next over, giving away 14 runs which included 10 extras. Jansen, however, sent back Ishan Kishan as well.

Kumar then bowled his third over on trot, conceded five runs including an extra and took the wicket of Naman Dhir to leave MI's chase derailed at 36/3. Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav then smashed Cummins for 16 runs in the last over of the powerplay as MI closed the first six overs at 52/3.

SRH couldn't get another breakthrough in the match afterwards as Surya and Tilak added 143 unbeaten runs for the fourth wicket for MI's fourth win in 12 games this season. Surya finished not out 102 off 51 balls while Tilak scored unbeaten 37 off 32 balls as MI chased the target in the 18th over with seven wickets in hand.

The dashing opener from Australia, however, got out in the very next over when he chipped a full toss ball Ravi Ashwin towards the extra cover region. Nonetheless, his blistering innings gave a nice platform for Delhi to keep charging. The DC batters also obliged, finishing 78/2 in the first six overs before posting 221/8 in 20 overs.

Former Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram has chimed in on the ongoing controversy between Virat Kohli and Sunil Gavaskar. The legendary speedster said Kohli should not have responded to the critics, including Gavaskar, who had criticised his low strike rate during the ongoing season of Indian Premier League (IPL).

Referring to both as "greats" of the game, Akram said their contribution to Indian cricket was immense but the altercation could have been avoided.

"Both are greats. Sunny bhai [brother], as a cricketer, as a human being, I know him off the field. As a commentator, he has been doing it for God knows how many years. And coming to the great man, Virat Kohli, he is a top player, a modern great," Akram told Sportskeeda.&nbsp;

"In fact, he is an all-time great in history, given the kind of performances he has had. But I think Virat shouldn't have said that," he added.&nbsp;

The former Pakistan captain urged both of them to "forget" the incident and move on from it.&nbsp;

"It is the commentators' job. If he got slow in a couple of matches and he [Gavaskar] said something, forget about it. Virat is not that kind of a person."

Despite being the leading run-scorer in the tournament, critics have gone after Kohli, arguing that the former Indian captain did not have the power game to take up a spot in the top order.&nbsp;

However, after playing a match-winning knock against Gujarat Titans last month, Kohli lashed out at the critics.&nbsp;

"I think all the people who talk about strike rates and me not playing spin well are the ones who love talking about this stuff. But, for me, it's about winning the game for the team. And there is a reason you have done this for 15 years," said Kohli.&nbsp;

"You have done this, day in and day out. You have won games for your team. And I am not quite sure if you have not been in that situation yourself, to sit and speak about the game from a box," he added.

Replying to Kohli’s remarks, Gavaskar did not pull any punches and said he will keep questioning anyone whose strike rate is low, opening the innings.&nbsp;

"Commentators questioned only when his strike rate was 118. I'm not too sure. I don't watch too many matches, so I don't know what the other commentators have said otherwise. But if you come and open and then have a strike of 118 when you get out in the 14th or the 15th over, I mean, if you want applause for that, that's a little bit different. That's different," said Gavaskar on Star Sports.&nbsp;

Gavaskar continued by saying as experts and as someone who has played the game, they know what they are talking about. He added that experts don’t have agendas and say what they see.

KKR squad, originally scheduled to land in Kolkata on May 6 (Monday)&nbsp;evening&nbsp;had their flight diverted to Guwahati due to bad weather and rainy conditions.&nbsp;The team's flight made a second attempt to land in Kolkata at midnight&nbsp;but&nbsp;again&nbsp;poor weather conditions prevented them from landing&nbsp;in the West Bengal capital.&nbsp;The flight was then directed&nbsp;towards Varanasi&nbsp;with&nbsp;the players again&nbsp;left&nbsp;stranded for the whole night.&nbsp;

KKR are next in action against Mumbai Indians on Saturday (May 11) when they take on Mumbai Indians at the Eden Gardens. Thankfully, KKR have enough time to recover and plan their journey&nbsp;while&nbsp;the same goes for Mumbai Indians&nbsp;who&nbsp;were last in action on Monday against Sunrisers Hyderabad.&nbsp;

On the Kolkata weather, the city has experienced scorching temperatures in April, recording&nbsp; its hottest day since 1954.&nbsp;Temperatures have exceeded the 40°C on nine different days during April&nbsp;with&nbsp;43°C being the highest.&nbsp;
