On Tuesday (April 30), the BCCI selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, named India's 15-man squad which saw the return of Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant with Sanju Samson also getting a look-in. Meanwhile, Shivam Dube also got included whereas&nbsp;KL Rahul was dropped.

Rinku Singh, who has been India's finisher in the format in the recent past, was not part of the main squad but has been named in the reserves list. Speaking on Rohit Sharma-led India&nbsp;squad, Sangakkara -- who is currently serving as Rajasthan Royals (RR) head coach in IPL 2024 -- lauded the squad and made a big claim.

Sanga, ahead of RR's away game versus Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Thursday (May 2), said in Hyderabad, "It's (India) an extremely strong squad. They've got their batting covered, they've got their all-rounders in. They've got very high-quality spin and they've got very good combinations that they can play."

Speaking on India's team combination, Sanga elaborated, "Knowing the conditions there, I'm sure Rahul (Dravid) and Rohit (Sharma) have a good idea of what the squad should be to play the cricket they want in the World Cup. And they'll be having two or three different combinations, depending on whether they want a deeper batting line-up or more strength in their bowling. But it's a really well-balanced squad, a very strong squad and India's always been very strong in international tournaments."

India are in Group A along with arch-rivals Pakistan, USA, Canada and Scotland. They begin their campaign versus Ireland on June 5 at the&nbsp;Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York.

With only 30 days to go for the International Cricket Council (ICC)&nbsp;T20 World Cup, the official anthem for the marquee tournament, titled, 'Out if this World', by Grammy award-winning artist Sean Paul and Soca superstar Kes was released on Thursday (May 2).

The three-minute song has been produced by Michael&nbsp;“Tano” Montano and the music video was released on the same day. The anthem features some of the biggest names in sports,&nbsp;including eight-time Olympic gold-medalist Usain Bolt, West Indies cricket superstars Chris Gayle, Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Stafanie Taylor, and USA bowler Ali Khan among other Caribbean personalities.

“I have always believed that music, like cricket, has the power to bring people together in unity and celebration," said Paul after the release of the anthem.&nbsp;

"This song is all about positive energy and Caribbean pride and I can't wait for the carnival of cricket to get started and hear everyone singing along to the anthem, bringing the party to stadiums across the West Indies and USA," he added.&nbsp;

The video celebrates the atmosphere and energy of the Caribbean and the US where the tournament gets underway.&nbsp;

“Cricket has always been a major part of Caribbean culture, so I'm honoured to write and record the official anthem for the T20 World Cup. Respect goes out to the entire crew whose creative input inspired this anthem. The track embodies the vibrant culture and energy of cricket and is a real anthem for people to sing out and feel the spirit of unity," said Kes on the anthem release.&nbsp;

The World Cup kicks off on June 2 with the United States taking on Canada at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas.

Indian men's cricket team captain Rohit Sharma has refused to divulge the decision behind including four spinners in the T20 World Cup squad. Sharma alongside BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar addressed the media in Mumbai on Thursday (May 2), a little over 48 hours after the squad was first announced.&nbsp;

During the press conference, Rohit said it was on his insistence that the selectors picked four spinners.&nbsp;

"I don't want to go too much into detail on it, I'm sure opposition captains are listening to thisI definitely wanted four spinners. We've&nbsp;played a lot of cricket there [West Indies], we know what the conditions are like.&nbsp;The match probably starts at 10-10:30 in the morning. There is a little bit of technical aspect involved in this," said Rohit.&nbsp;

"Maybe in the first press conference when I do in the West Indies, I'll give more detail on this. I am not going to say it in public&nbsp;now but I'll definitely say it there," he added.&nbsp;

However, the decision to go with four spinners has&nbsp;drawn the ire of fans who questioned if Rinku Singh's place was compromised due to Rohit's belief.&nbsp;&nbsp;

"I wanted four spinners for sure. With two of the spinners being allrounders who can bat, Axar and Jadeja, and two attacking spinners - Kuldeep and Chahal - it gives you the balance in the spin department. Based on the team composition of the opposition we can decide what we want to play with," Rohit further explained.&nbsp;

"He is still one of the travelling subs, that's how close he was. I know it can be a little bit tough on him but at the end of the day, you can only pick 15."

Addressing concerns about why four spinners were included in the squad when one of the places could have gone to Rinku, Rohit cleared that he wanted four spinners in the squad.

"I wanted four spinners. The match starts at 10 in the morning and there is little technical aspect involved. I won't give the entire reason for it," said Rohit.&nbsp;

Ever since making his debut for the Indian team in the T20 format, Rinku has been one of the most consistent batters.&nbsp;In his short 15-match T20I career so far, Rinku has scored 356 runs at an enviable average of 89 and strike rate of 176.24.&nbsp;

Despite the stats backing Rinku's ability,&nbsp;the selectors opted to go with Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube as the preferred finishers, primarily due to their bowling abilities.

"We want someone in the middle over to play that role [hitting big]&nbsp;and play&nbsp;freely and we picked Dube based on what he's done in IPL. We spoke about it and selected but our playing XI isn't guaranteed," said Rohit on Dube's selection.&nbsp;&nbsp;

On Wednesday (May 1), Rinku's father, Khanchandra Singh,&nbsp; revealed that his son was heartbroken after being excluded from the squad.&nbsp;

"He was allowed only 5 ml of extra virgin olive oil. He couldn't give up his love for chilly chicken. So, a recipe was derived to make it with that much oil. Goan bhindi was one of his favourites," the source added. Pant lost considerable weight Apart from strict food habits, Pant focused on taking solid sleep at night, devoid of distractions brought by the electronic gadgets. "All gadgets, including phones, iPads and TVs were shut down by 11 in the night. He had to have eight-nine hours of uninterrupted sleep to get back to rigorous training next morning," the report quoted a source as saying. Mayank was not at his fluent best, as was evident in the first over of the night when he bowled a no-ball and wide to kickstart the proceedings. He did manage to go unscathed in the next couple of overs but upon being summoned to bowl the penultimate over, Mayank felt something.&nbsp;

He bowled an express delivery straight on the stumps which Afghan veteran Mohammad Nabi could not keep out. But as Gerald Coetzee arrived on the crease to face the pacer, Mayank could be seen hobbling off the field. His teammate Naveen-ul-Haq stepped up and bowled the remaining five deliveries to close out the over.&nbsp;

Apart from Rinku's exclusion, fans were not happy with Yuzvendra Chahal being rushed back into the squad, especially owing to his known struggles on the international circuit. Decoding Hardik Pandya's IPL 2024 performance and why he might be dropped from T20 WC

New Zealand have named their 15-man squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup which starts in June first week. With the shortest format WC set to be played in the USA and Caribbean, the Kiwis have decided to keep the squad experienced instead of experimenting, said head coach Gary Stead.&nbsp;

"We expect the venues in the West Indies to offer quite varied conditions and feel we've selected a squad with the scope to adapt to those conditions," Stead said.

Only two players in the squad will be playing in their first T20 World Cup - pacer Matt Henry and batter Rachin Ravindra.

"Matt has worked exceptionally hard on his skills across the phases of a T20 game to come back into selection consideration.

"Rachin has made every post a winner in the past 12 months and it was exciting to see him continue that trajectory over the summer in the T20 format against Australia," Stead said of their selection.

The squad will be led by Kane Williamson who returns after missing NZ's last two T20I series - the&nbsp;home series against Australia in February due to father duties and the recently played away series against Pakistan because of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Devon Conway also comes back to the squad after being ruled out of IPL 2024 with a thumb injury he sustained in the Australia series.

NZ had sent a depleted squad to Pakistan and only four players - Jimmy Neesham, Michael Bracewell, Ish Sodhi, and Mark Chapman - have made it to the World Cup squad.

Veteran bowler Tim Southee has also been included along with Trent Boult and Lockie Ferguson as well. Pacer Ben Sears has been named as the 16th man - the travelling reserve.
