With the deadline to announce the squad fast approaching on Saturday (May 25), the selection committee on Friday revealed the 15-man squad. As expected, Babar will lead the side while Shaheen Shah Afridi remains one of the untouchables in the squad.

Of course, leading into a World Cup, your No. 1 priority is playing for England and performing for England. I feel like this is the best preparation,” he added.

While IPL 2024 playoffs began on May 21, the first of the four T20Is between England and Pakistan gets underway on May 22 in Leeds.

Buttler's statement came after former Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram&nbsp;said that players should come for the entirety of the IPL or should not bother coming.&nbsp;

"If you cut salaries, will it affect anything if your team doesn't win after reaching the playoffs? You've put in all the hard work and in the last hurdle, your boys leave because they have to play for the country. It's not fair," said Akram.&nbsp;

"This is what you play for. That's why it's frustrating not just for fans but owners, and captains of the teams for any league. So, I agree with Irfan [Pathan], come for the entire tournament otherwise don't come," he added.

Previously, legendary Indian opener, Sunil Gavaskar, had called for a substantial pay cut for overseas players who cut short their IPL campaign for national duties or whatever reasons.&nbsp;

“I am all for players choosing country before anything else, but having assured various franchises about their availability for the full season, if they pull out now, it will be letting down the franchises which probably pay them more money in one IPL season, which they don’t earn in a few seasons with their country,” Gavaskar said.&nbsp;

The T20 World Cup takes place in the&nbsp;Caribbean and USA, starting June 1, with 20 teams in the fray.

Apart from England, players from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka also left IPL midway to join their respective national teams, leading to more outrage amongst the IPL fans.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Subsequently, the security was beefed up outside RCB's team hotel with IPL-accredited membersalso&nbsp; not being allowed to enter the hotel premises.&nbsp;

As for the Royals, a 'green corridor' was prepared and three police convoys escorted the team bus. While skipper Sanju Samson arrived late, the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Riyan Parag and Yuzvendra Chahal skipped the practice session and remained at the hotel.&nbsp;

"Each year, you prioritise what you can and can't do. Next year, Test cricket is around, we tour the West Indies and probably I will not feature in many other franchises," he added.

SRH were beaten comprehensively by eight wickets as both their batters and bowlers failed to live up to the expectations.

"A bit off the pace," Cummins said when asked about his team's performance. "Think you have those days in T20 cricket. Even when you are a very good side, you have some days where it doesn't quite work out."

"Few guys didn't get off to starts so we were probably short of where we wanted to be with the bat. And then yeah, couldn't get it done with the ball. Kolkata bowled really well. That wicket got better but there was a little bit in it early. But it happens," he added.

SRH, however, have another shot at making it to the final by virtue of their second place finish in the league stage. They will play the winner of RCB vs RR eliminator in the second qualifier. SRH will play the match at Chennai and Cummins was happy with the change in venue.

"Going to a new venue helps as well. It is going to be a bit different feel to here, so you start again," Cummins said. "We have got a good body of work behind us this season to look back on, so we erase this one and move on."
