The WHO had issued a warning on Wednesday (October 6) against allegedly "contaminated" cough syrups manufactured in Haryana by Maiden Pharmaceuticals Limited as a possible cause of deaths in the West African nation.

The WHO earlier informed the Drugs Controller General of India that it is providing medical assistance to Gambia. After the deaths were reported, the health organisation suspected the use of medicines to be the prime reason for the deaths. It highlighted that medicines might have been contaminated with diethylene glycol or ethylene glycol and later confirmed the samples to be positive as well.&nbsp;

As per WHO's tentative result, four out of the 23 samples found diethylene glycol or ethylene glycol.

The CDSCO said that it responded to the WHO immediately and took up the matter with the authorities.&nbsp;

Birring said that since "Gefapixant" is the first new drug that has been approved in over 50 years, there's a high possibility that thousands of people will be suitable for this treatment.&nbsp;

For the trial, every day, individuals were given 15 mg&nbsp;to 45 mg&nbsp;twice daily. The researchers found that giving 45 mg&nbsp;to people brought a major reduction in cough. The results of the trials were published in the Lancet.&nbsp;

However, in contrast, over half of the patients found that their taste ability was either affected or disappeared when they were consuming the drug.&nbsp;

Birring later said that most of the individuals later believed that these side effects are worth paying for as they are now relieved from coughing and not just that, people are now able to sleep better than they used to when they were coughing.&nbsp;

A man has been taken into custody after he allegedly killed a professor on the University of Arizona main campus on Wednesday (October 6).

At a press conference held later, the police chief said that the suspect, Murad Dervis, 46, was arrested by the police in the evening around 5 pm after being spotted near Gila Bend.

The chief went on to say that the department received a call around 2&nbsp;pm&nbsp;reporting that Dervis, a former student of the university, had been seen in the building. Dervis was, however, not allowed in the building, so the caller wanted him to be let out by law enforcement.&nbsp;

As the Vice Admiral of the US Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, Dr Murthy also commands a uniformed service of over 6,000 dedicated public health officers, serving the most underserved and vulnerable populations.

The first Surgeon General of Indian descent, Dr Murthy, was raised in Miami and is a graduate of Harvard, the Yale School of Medicine, and the Yale School of Management, the White House said.

A renowned physician, research scientist, entrepreneur and author, he lives in Washington, DC with his wife Dr Alice Chen, and their two children, it said.

The attack occurred near the village of Kaita, close to the border with Cameroon, in an area rife with militia activity.

"The battalion was carrying out a patrol... when one of its vehicles hit an explosive device," the peacekeeping mission MINUSCA said in a tweet late on Tuesday.

No militia was directly blamed for the attack, although MINUSCA head Valentine Rugwabiza condemned "the use of explosive devices by armed groups."

MINUSCA said it has launched an investigation into the explosion.

Central&nbsp;African Republic has been rocked by violence since 2013 when mainly Muslim Seleka rebels ousted then president Francois Bozize, prompting reprisals from mostly Christian militias.

The conflict has uprooted more than one million people, according to the UN.

Violence waned after a shaky peace accord was signed in February 2019 between the government and 14 armed groups, but the situation remains volatile as swathes of territory are still outside government control in one of the world's poorest countries.

UN&nbsp;peacekeepers were deployed to CAR in 2014. The mission currently counts just over 14,200 uniformed personnel and has suffered 147 fatalities, its website says.

Recently, 15 Made-in-India Light Combat Helicopters were added to the defence, with 10 going to the air force and five to the army. The LCH will be a part of the flypast in a three-aircraft formation.&nbsp;

Two other formations to be staged will be the Globe and Eklavya formations. For Globe formation, a C-17 heavy lifting aircraft and nine Hawk-132 from the Surya Kiran team will be deployed. The Eklavya formation will be led by Mi-35 attacking helicopters with four Apache choppers.&nbsp;
