<p>Defending champion Egan Bernal has withdrawn from the Tour de France ahead of stage 17, his Ineos Grenadiers team said on Wednesday.</p>

<p>Bernal had said that compensating for his back led to some discomfort in his knee.</p>

<p>"This is obviously not how I wanted my Tour de France to end, but I agree that it is the right decision for me in the circumstances," Bernal said in a statement.</p>

<p>“I have the greatest respect for this race and I am already looking forward to coming back in the years ahead.”</p>

<p>The 23-year-old will focus on his recovery from the Tour, and reset his goals for the rest of the season, his team said.</p>

<p>They did not specify the reason for his withdrawl.</p>

<p>“We’ve taken this decision with Egan’s best interests at heart,” Ineos team principal Dave Brailsford said.</p>

<p>“Egan is a true champion who loves to race, but he is also a young rider, with many Tours ahead of him and at this point, on balance, we feel it is wiser for him to stop racing.”</p>

<p>The Colombian had pulled out of the Criterium du Dauphine with back pains last month.</p>

<p>Last year, Bernal became the youngest rider to win the Tour de France in 110 years.</p>

<p>Speaking earlier this month, Rafiq, who had two stints at Headingley between 2008 and 2018, said, as a Muslim, he was made to feel like an "outsider" at the county.</p>

<p>In what can be termed as unusual incident in franchise cricket, 40-year-old owner of Kabul Eagles made his T20 debut in the ongoing Afghanistan’s Shpageeza Cricket League for his team in a match this week. Abudl Latif Ayobi, the owner of Kabul Eagles franchise, bowled one over while giving away 16 runs but was banned from the remainder of the tournament by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) for misbehaving a day after the incident took place.</p>

<p>Ayoubi was in the playing XI for his team Kabul Eagles in the match against Speen Ghar Tigers on September 13 with the latter posting 142-8 in 20 overs which included the one over by the Kabul Eagles owner Ayoubi, who conceded 16. Eagles went onto win the match as they chase down the target in 17.5 overs.</p>

<p>According to ACB, Ayoubi was banned from attending the remained of the tournament after violating “Articles 9 &amp;18 of the ACB Disciplinary Code, which deals with “misbehaviour with Staff or players, using foul language &amp; damaging property.”</p>

<p>Olli Rehn, who heads the FIFA committee set up to tackle the effects of the pandemic, said that FIFA, along with financial consultants, had estimated the club game to be worth between $40 billion and $45 billion worldwide.</p>

<p>“It has created plenty of turmoil at different levels with some professional clubs facing very serious difficulties. I’m also very concerned about youth academies and lower division clubs.”</p>

<p>Rehn said that football in South America had been especially hard hit, while Africa and Asia were also a concern.</p>

<p>“It is a real danger that the good work that has been done developing football in Asia and Africa could be ruined, so we want to soften the blow and maintain the development that has been done,” he said.</p>

<p>FIFA has allocated $1.5 billion to help tackle the effects of the pandemic and Rehn said 150 of the 211 member associations had so far applied for funds.</p>

<p>He said that, while football was slowly re-awakening, another downturn could not be ruled out.</p>

<p>“The critical thing will be whether a vaccine will be developed and can be used, and that we have medical and other means to fully contain and tame the pandemic, and that is uncertain,” he said.</p>

<p>“We cannot rule out worse developments and that would be another ball game if the pandemic were to continue in a severe form next year. Now we are working on the basis of the current scenario.”</p>

<p>The BCCI has tied up with UK-based company Sportradar, which will offer its "integrity services" to prevent betting and other corrupt practices during the upcoming IPL through its Fraud Detection Services (FDS).</p>

<p>With the 13th Indian Premier League being held behind closed doors, the challenge for the Board''s Ajit Singh-led Anti-Corruption Unit is very different as there has been a surge in betting-related frauds even during some of the state unit''s leagues, and it''s expected to increase manifold during the lucrative event.</p>

<p>"Yes, BCCI has inked a deal with Sportradar for this year''s IPL. They will be working closely with the ACU and offer their integrity services," an IPL source confirmed the development to PTI.</p>

<p>"Sportradar has very recently red flagged at least half a dozen games in Goa football league which came under fixing cloud. They have also worked with FIFA, UEFA and various leagues across the globe," the source added.</p>

<p>The BCCI ACU, in recent times, tracked unusual betting patterns during the state T20 leagues, including the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), as a major betting company stopped taking bets after unusual bets were being placed.</p>

<p>According to Sportradar, Fraud Detection System (FDS) "is a unique service that identifies betting-related manipulation in sport. This is possible due to the FDS''s sophisticated algorithms and constantly maintained database of odds which are leveraged for the purpose of detecting match-fixing."</p>

<p>It is believed that the company tracks the odds and movements of at least 600 independent bookmakers to detect anomalies in betting patterns. It processes around 5 million data sets per day. It is understood that apart from bookies and possible corruptors, who will look to approach players and support staff online, the advent of multiple fantasy gaming company will also keep the world''s richest cricket board on tenterhooks.</p>

<p>"Fantasy gaming is not exactly betting in its traditional sense but the element of gambling does exist. So it''s a good thing that BCCI is engaging with a company that works on betting related corruption in sport," a BCCI veteran said.</p>

<p>An interesting aspect of fraud detection is the mathematical algorithm that is used to study betting patterns.<br />
It is a "sophisticated model" which monitors live betting on offer during an event. "There are 25 live alerts, which instantly identifies irregular betting in the marketplace. The mathematical model uses calculated odds, which runs alongside bookmakers'' odds, in order to highlight if the odds during a specific minute or time is out of line, and therefore, potentially suspicious," the Sportradar website stated under its ''25 Live Alerts'' section.</p>

<p>There are also "44 detailed pre-match alerts which are based on odds movements observed at betting operators." An alert is generated in FDS when odds at a bookmaker changes greater than pre-defined parameter", which can be customised according to the nature of the sport."</p>

<p>"We also have a lot of match-winners in our team, and we will do our preparations according to each team. We cannot underestimate any team, and need to treat everyone equally," he said.</p>

<p>Mishra further said that the feeling within the group is really good.</p>

Raina, in his tweet, wrote that he met the investigating officers, who reportedly nabbed three criminals, in Punjab on Wednesday morning and added while the loss of his family can’t be recovered, the prompt action will prevent further crimes.</p>

<p>Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday said that three alleged members of an interstate gang were arrested in the case related to Raina and his family.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The former Indian batsman, who announced his international retirement on August 15, returned back to India from the UAE while leaving the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) camp due to ‘personal reasons’.</p>

Till date we don’t know what exactly had happened that night &amp; who did this. I request @PunjabPoliceInd to look into this matter. We at least deserve to know who did this heinous act to them.
