<p>An unexplained pressure was reported on Saturday in a Russian spacecraft, docked with the International Space Station (ISS). On Telegram, Russian space agency Roscosmos revealed that a Progress cargo ship had lost cabin pressure. It was docked with the ISS and is due to undock from the ISS on February 18.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Roscosmos stated that a depressurisation in the cooling system of the Progress MS-21 cargo ship was detected by the mission control specialists.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the Russian space agency, the exact reason behind the incident was being investigated and the vessel was sealed off from the rest of the station.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Roscosmos said: "The temperature regime and pressure on board the ISS are normal, nothing threatens the life and health of the crew and they feel fine."&nbsp;</p>

<p>NASA later said the depressurisation was due to a coolant leak. NASA said, "The reason for the loss of coolant in the Progress 82 spacecraft is being investigated."&nbsp;</p>

<p>It added, "The hatches between Progress 82 and the station are open, and temperatures and pressures aboard the station are all normal. The crew, which was informed of the cooling loop leak, is in no danger and continuing with normal space station operations."&nbsp;</p>

An uninhabited island in Okinawa Prefecture of Japan was reportedly bought by a Chinese woman, whose identity was not revealed. Japan Times reported on Saturday (February 11) that the woman's claims were made on social media, which led to a stir online. According to the report, a few users highlighted that the move would be part of Beijing's attempt at "an expansion of Chinese territory". The woman, who is believed to be in her 30s, said as quoted by Chinese media that a company run by her relative had bought Yanaha Island, which is located north of the Okinawa main island. A Tokyo-based consulting firm owns part of the island. The firm reportedly specialises in Chinese businesses, public records showed. Turkey quake: In a miracle, pregnant woman and daughter pulled out from rubble alive

<p>The Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) released figures on Friday (February 10) which highlighted how India emerged as the top importer of Scotch whisky in 2022 as Scotch whisky exports broke records, which grew to more than £6 billion for the first time.&nbsp; The trade organisation that represents the Scotch whisky industry mentioned in its report&nbsp;that the Scotch whisky exports went up 37 per cent to £6.2 billion last year.</p>

<p>The report mentioned that India beat France to top the list and the growth was reported despite the economic slump in the aftermath of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per the report, the subcontinent imported 219 million bottles of Scotch whisky last year, while imports increased by 17 per cent in France to 205 million bottles. The total, however, was overshadowed by a 60 per cent rise in demand from India.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The figure for record sales is also significant because of India's tariff charge of 150 per cent on imports.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the report, a UK-India free trade deal does ease the 150% per cent tariff burden on Scotch whisky in India.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Mark Kent, who is the chief executive of the Scotch Whisky Association, said the industry continues to be an "anchor of growth" that would support both investment and job creation despite "a year of significant economic headwinds and global supply chain disruption".&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kent said that looking toward 2023, the industry will continue to navigate economic headwinds including "global inflationary pressures, domestic energy and business costs, and a reduction in consumer confidence".&nbsp;</p>

<p>He added that with the right support from our home governments, we remain confident that the industry can continue to deliver for the Scottish and wider UK economy.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"By reducing tariffs through the UK-India free trade agreement, continuing the duty freeze in the March budget, and ensuring the industry's continued ability to advertise our world-class product in our home market, the Scottish and UK governments can count on the Scotch Whisky industry to reinvest its success across the UK," said Kent.</p>

<p>Amid the economic crisis, the Pakistan government has approved a new tax on power in order to meet the International Monetary Fund (IMF) conditions, media reported citing an official statement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Pakistan said it has agreed to the IMF conditions to tackle the worsening economic crisis. The South Asian nation reached out to an international financial institution to secure a loan.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The nation is in desperate need of financial support to keep its economy afloat. The payment is part of a $6.5 billion IMF bailout Pakistan signed in 2019, but it has been stalled since last December.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Pakistan's Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said on Friday that the nation agreed with the IMF on the clauses to release about $1.1 billion in critical funding. The minister added that the payout was delayed due to "routine procedures".&nbsp;</p>

<p>After Friday's presser, the minister chaired the meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet.&nbsp;</p>

<p>During the meeting, the officials approved the imposition of a special financing surcharge of Rs3.39 per unit in average power tariff in addition to quarterly tariff adjustments of up to Rs3.21 per unit for one year and recovery of pending fuel cost adjustments of up to Rs 4 per unit for about three months.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Reports have mentioned that the ECC also approved the discontinuation of power tariff subsidies to zero-rated industries as well as the Kissan package with effect from March 1.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Ministry of Finance said in a statement on Saturday that in order to meet another condition, an additional budget subsidy of about Rs 335 billion was also included in the meeting that approved an overarching Revised Circular Debt (power sector debt) Reduction Plan worth Rs952 billion for the current fiscal year.&nbsp;</p>

<p>These measures would burden the common people with costly electricity and other household items.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dar said on Friday, "God willing, we will try to complete the IMF programme for the second time in Pakistan's history with the same spirit." His statement came hours after an IMF mission left Islamabad after 10 days of talks.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A report by Pakistan-based media outlet DAWN mentioned that the authorities have agreed with the IMF on conditions such as: imposing taxes amounting to Rs170 billion (PKR), minimising untargeted subsidies in the gas and energy sectors, ensuring that there is zero addition to the gas sector’s circular debt and a couple of more points regarding petroleum development levy and BISP.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

Amid the economic crisis, the Pakistan government has approved a new tax on power in order to meet the International Monetary Fund (IMF) conditions, media reported citing an official statement.

Amid the economic crisis, the Pakistan government has approved a new tax on power in order to meet the International Monetary Fund (IMF) conditions, media reported citing an official statement. Pakistan said it has agreed to the IMF conditions to tackle the worsening economic crisis. The South Asian nation reached out to an international financial institution to secure a loan. The nation is in desperate need of financial support to keep its economy afloat. The payment is part of a $6.5 billion IMF bailout Pakistan signed in 2019, but it has been stalled since last December. Pakistan's Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said on Friday that the nation agreed with the IMF on the clauses to release about $1.1 billion in critical funding. The minister added that the payout was delayed due to "routine procedures". After Friday's presser, the minister chaired the meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet. During the meeting, the officials approved the imposition of a special financing surcharge of Rs3.39 per unit in average power tariff in addition to quarterly tariff adjustments of up to Rs3.21 per unit for one year and recovery of pending fuel cost adjustments of up to Rs 4 per unit for about three months. The Ministry of Finance said in a statement on Saturday that in order to meet another condition, an additional budget subsidy of about Rs 335 billion was also included in the meeting that approved an overarching Revised Circular Debt (power sector debt) Reduction Plan worth Rs952 billion for the current fiscal year. These measures would burden the common people with costly electricity and other household items. Dar said on Friday, "God willing, we will try to complete the IMF programme for the second time in Pakistan's history with the same spirit." His statement came hours after an IMF mission left Islamabad after 10 days of talks. A report by Pakistan-based media outlet DAWN mentioned that the authorities have agreed with the IMF on conditions such as: imposing taxes amounting to Rs170 billion (PKR), minimising untargeted subsidies in the gas and energy sectors, ensuring that there is zero addition to the gas sector’s circular debt and a couple of more points regarding petroleum development levy and BISP.
