<p>The Barbie movie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, has been breaking records worldwide. With its huge success, a new trend called ‘Barbiecore’ has emerged that has taken the internet by storm. The trend kept the audience engaged and interested for a long time before the release of the movie, all thanks to the efforts of the marketing strategy by the Barbie team.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This trend now has a new addition — coffins. Surprisingly, funeral homes have caught on to this trend by promoting pink coffins. According to reports from NY Post, Olivares Funeral Home has introduced Barbie-themed coffins, with catchy bright pink colours with “you can rest like Barbie” written on them.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Significance of pink coffins</strong></h2>

<p>The company's promotional clip showcases the striking bright pink colour of the coffin, symbolising the spark and energy of the unforgettable moments in life. It serves as a reminder that our stories deserve to be remembered and celebrated with vibrant colours. The tribute aims to create a celebration full of love, colours, and unforgettable memories.</p>

<p>This is not a lone incident. Several funeral homes across Mexico, El Salvador, and various parts of Latin America are also providing people with the option to say goodbye to their loved ones in a unique and vibrant way. For instance, Alpha and Omega Funeral Home in Ahuachapan, El Salvador, run by Undertaker Isaac Villegas, has been offering pink coffins for approximately a year.</p>

<p>To cater to the growing demand, Villegas's funeral home offered a 30 per cent discount on these unique coffins. The response has been overwhelming, with around 40 inquiries about the coffin design. As a result, they have already closed deals with at least 10 new clients, and the high demand has led to the stock running out.</p>

<p>The global hit Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling’s movie set a high bar for film marketing’s future. Funeral homes are the latest to join the race already been led by brands, influencers, and the food industry as a whole contributing to the ‘Barbiecore’ trend.</p>

<p>A 93-year-old grandmother from the United States is living her life to the fullest. At the age of 93, Grandma Joy has seen all 63 US national parks. Joy went on this epic journey with her grandson, Brad Ryan, who was first inspired to travel with his grandmother in 2015.</p>

<p>By the age of 85, Joy from Ohio had never even seen the ocean or mountains. But now, she has seen every corner of the United States by visiting all 63 national parks in the country.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Joy told CBS News all the travelling she had done earlier was "to the fishing hole." &nbsp;</p>

<p>"Every winter, my husband took me to Okeechobee and we fished. That was about the extent of my wandering," she said.</p>

<h2><strong>A trip that gave the idea of travelling to all US national parks&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>It was her grandson Brad who decided to take her to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This trip was memorable for Joy as she saw the mountains for the first time, but it also sparked the idea of travelling to all US national parks.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"When I learned she had never seen the great wildernesses of America – deserts, mountains, oceans, you name it – I thought that was something that would haunt me if I didn't intervene in some way," Brad told CBS News in October 2022.&nbsp;</p>

A 93-year-old grandmother from the United States is living her life to the fullest. At the age of 93, Grandma Joy has seen all 63 US national parks. Joy went on this epic journey with her grandson, Brad Ryan, who was first inspired to travel with his grandmother in 2015. By the age of 85, Joy from Ohio had never even seen the ocean or mountains. But now, she has seen every corner of the United States by visiting all 63 national parks in the country. "Every winter, my husband took me to Okeechobee and we fished. That was about the extent of my wandering," she said. A trip that gave the idea of travelling to all US national parks It was her grandson Brad who decided to take her to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This trip was memorable for Joy as she saw the mountains for the first time, but it also sparked the idea of travelling to all US national parks. "When I learned she had never seen the great wildernesses of America – deserts, mountains, oceans, you name it – I thought that was something that would haunt me if I didn't intervene in some way," Brad told CBS News in October 2022. Upcoming Theatrical Releases in August 2023

After a successful month of July for Bollywood films, the month of August promises to be just as exciting with a lineup of highly anticipated movies.

<p>The family of a Black American woman, Henrietta Lacks, reached a settlement on Monday (July 31) with a biotech company that stole her cervical cells and harvested them without her knowledge in 1951. Ever since then, the company has been replicating her cells infinitely without paying any compensation to the family.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Henrietta Lacks’ cells were utilised in medical science to make massive advances and the cell line is still being used in research institutes worldwide.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Lacks’ family fought for years to get justice for the “stolen” cells. The Massachusetts-based biotech company and the family reached a settlement on Monday, the details of which are not revealed in public.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Henrietta Lacks’ case: A gruesome tale of medical theft</strong></h2>

<p>Henrietta Lacks was 31 years old when her cells were stolen without her consent.</p>

<p>Lacks used to live in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1951, she began experiencing pain in her abdomen with abnormal bleeding. She was examined by gynaecologists at John Hopkins Hospital, who discovered a large mass on her cervix.</p>

<p>Without informing her or asking for permission, doctors sent a sample of her tumour to the lab for medical research before treating her for aggressive cervical cancer.&nbsp;</p>

<p>But, while nearly all cell cultures died quickly in the lab, cells taken from Lacks continued to multiply and didn’t age, making them almost “immortal”.</p>

<p>The cell line was called ‘HeLa’ after Lacks’ first and last names. It was sent to research labs around the world for examination. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), HeLa cells have led to the creation of the polio vaccine and advancements in HIV, cancer and infertility research.&nbsp;</p>

<p>But the same properties that made the cells a scientific miracle proved to be lethal for Lacks. Months after her diagnosis, she died from cancer at 31 and was buried in an unmarked grave.</p>

<p>It was only decades later that the Lacks family discovered what had become of her cells.</p>

<h2><strong>A case of ‘medical racism’?</strong></h2>

<p>Civil rights lawyer Ben Crump, who represented the family in the negotiations with Thermo Fisher, the biotech company, said the procedure done by doctors left her in pain at the end of her life.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He said the mistreatment she received is similar to experiences suffered by other Black Americans who have sought help from US doctors.</p>

<p>"The exploitation of Henrietta Lacks represents the unfortunately common struggle experienced by Black people throughout history," according to the lawsuit that led to Monday's settlement.</p>

What is Lunar Codex? Unique project sending digitised work of 30,000 artists to moon

<p>An Indian-American engineer working with a missile defence contractor in the US was fired from his long-time job after one of his colleagues heard him speaking in Hindi. The 78-year-old employee was talking to his dying relative in India over a video call when a colleague heard him speaking in his native language, a&nbsp;media report quoted a lawsuit filed by him.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Anil Varshney, a 78-year old Senior Systems Engineer in Alabama-based missile defence contractor Parsons Corporation, recently filed a federal lawsuit alleging systemic discriminatory actions that left him jobless in October last year.</p>

<h2><strong>Co-worker was ‘intimidated’ by a foreign language</strong>&nbsp;</h2>

<p>A white American co-worker heard Varshney speaking in Hindi on his mobile with his dying brother-in-law in India, AL.COM reported on Monday.</p>

<p>Varshney on 26 September 2022 “received a video call from his elderly brother-in-law KC Gupta, [who] was on his deathbed in India and called to say goodbye to Varshney".</p>

<p>“Knowing the dire situation and that he may never have the opportunity to speak to (Gupta) again, Varshney stepped into an empty cubicle and accepted the call,” the suit said.</p>

<p>“Before doing so, he made sure there were no classified materials or anything else pertaining to MDA’s (Missile Defence Agency) or Parsons’ work anywhere near him,” said the lawsuit, which also names Secretary of Defence Lloyd J. Austin as legal representative for the MDA.</p>

<p>The two spoke for about two minutes in Hindi when another worker interrupted Varshney and asked whether he was on a video call, which he confirmed, as per the suit filed in June.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The suit claims the other worker was “intimidated by Varshney speaking in a language he did not understand” and “falsely and intentionally” reported that the Indian-American “committed a security violation by revealing confidential information and/or accepting this call during a confidential meeting or with confidential information in the background".</p>

<p>“Despite there being no policy prohibiting the call, and without any investigation, the defendants claimed Varshney committed a serious security violation and fired him. Worse, they blackballed him from future [Missile Defence Agency] work, effectively ending his career and life of service to MDA and the US government,” the lawsuit said.</p>

<p>MDA security personnel opened and searched through every file in his cubicle and through his personal belongings. He was humiliated and accused of being a spy simply for speaking in a foreign language.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Varshney immigrated to the US in 1968 and settled in Huntsville where the family&nbsp;became American citizens. His wife Sashi has worked at NASA since 1989.</p>

Varshney on 26 September 2022 “received a video call from his elderly brother-in-law KC Gupta, [who] was on his deathbed in India and called to say goodbye to Varshney". “Knowing the dire situation and that he may never have the opportunity to speak to (Gupta) again, Varshney stepped into an empty cubicle and accepted the call,” the suit said. Also Read | Henrietta Lacks: How Black woman's cells were stolen in case of 'medical racism' in US “Before doing so, he made sure there were no classified materials or anything else pertaining to MDA’s (Missile Defence Agency) or Parsons’ work anywhere near him,” said the lawsuit, which also names Secretary of Defence Lloyd J. Austin as legal representative for the MDA. The two spoke for about two minutes in Hindi when another worker interrupted Varshney and asked whether he was on a video call, which he confirmed, as per the suit filed in June. The suit claims the other worker was “intimidated by Varshney speaking in a language he did not understand” and “falsely and intentionally” reported that the Indian-American “committed a security violation by revealing confidential information and/or accepting this call during a confidential meeting or with confidential information in the background". Also Read | Award-winning Indian art director Nitin Desai found dead; suicide suspected “Despite there being no policy prohibiting the call, and without any investigation, the defendants claimed Varshney committed a serious security violation and fired him. Worse, they blackballed him from future [Missile Defence Agency] work, effectively ending his career and life of service to MDA and the US government,” the lawsuit said. MDA security personnel opened and searched through every file in his cubicle and through his personal belongings. He was humiliated and accused of being a spy simply for speaking in a foreign language. Varshney immigrated to the US in 1968 and settled in Huntsville where the family became American citizens. His wife Sashi has worked at NASA since 1989. (With inputs from agencies) WATCH WION LIVE HERE You can now write for wionews.com and be a part of the community. Chandrayaan-3: What is Lunar Orbit Insertion, Next Step of Mission

India's lunar exploration mission, Chandrayaan-3 has successfully left Earth's orbit and is now en route to the Moon.

ISRO confirmed that the spacecraft was injected into its translunar orbit on midnight of August 1, following a series of successful orbit-raising manoeuvres.

Following the trans-lunar injection (TLI), the spacecraft escaped from Earth's orbit and is now on a path that will take it to the vicinity of the Moon.

The next significant phase for Chandrayaan-3 is the Lunar-Orbit Insertion (LOI), planned for August 5. This move will initiate the moon-centric phase of the mission.

The spacecraft will orbit the moon four times, gradually getting closer to the lunar surface with each subsequent loop.

Upon successful landing, the six-wheeled rover will roll out and carry out experiments on the lunar surface for a period equivalent to 14 Earth days.
