Did Biden face 'medical emergency' on Air Force One? White House calls claim '100% false'

When United Kingdom's Former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak gave his resignation speech on a sombre day outside 10 Downing Street after disastrously losing the snap elections, his wife Akshata Murty stood behind holding an umbrella and wearing a dress that many found 'awful'.

Murty was wearing an Indian label dress which cost more than Rs 42,000 ($503.13). Interestingly, the dress contained all the colours of Britain’s national flag - which are blue, red and white stripes. Soon, the dress became viral as netizens found it very amusing.

The internet users said that the dress had arrows pointing down and the bottom section was red which appeared like a metaphor to indicate how the Conservative Party has slumped in the 2024 general election after losing to the Labour Party.

The world is gearing up for a mesmerising celestial event this month when the planet will receive a double meteor shower.

On July 30, the night sky will be sparkly lit by not one but two annual meteor showers that will take place simultaneously.

The Alpha Capricornids and the Delta Aquarids will be at their peak and will be accompanied by a mesmerising display of shooting stars.

This rare celestial event will be a unique opportunity for the stargazers. People will see various meteors which will pass across the sky.

The star-studded night will start with an unrivalled Southern Delta Aquariid meteor shower.

During the Neolithic period, the people who lived in north-western Saudi Arabia have remained a mystery.

It has been said that the period saw a shift in the humans who started controlling food production and started to settle in communities along with domesticated animals and practised agriculture.

What did the researchers find about Saudi Arabia?

A team of Australian researchers published a study on monumental buildings in the journal Levant, which are called "standing stone circles."

The new findings are helping people in rewriting about those who lived in the land of Saudi Arabia between 6,500 and 8,000 years ago.

The evidence hints at the things they ate, the tools they used and the jewellery they wore. It becomes clearer how the people in those times figured out complex ways to survive on the land for millennia.

How the project was carried out by researchers?

Nearly 431 standing stone circles present in the AlUla and Khaybar regions of north-west Saudi Arabia were studied by the team of researchers, as part of the ongoing project.

Among those 431 structures, 52 were surveyed in detail and 11 of them were also excavated.

The new findings were made after analysing some buildings present on the Harrat 'Uwayrid, a volcanic plateau which was created more than a millennia ago.

The researchers said that the standing stone circles explained how the mobile pastoralist communities were in ancient times.

The team also recovered remnants of people who stayed in these buildings for more than 1,000 years.

A range of modern and traditional techniques was used by the researchers to manage the practical limitations of working in remote and rugged landscapes.

Based on the tools and animal remains discovered, it appears that the people used animal skins to enclose the top of the structure, like a roof.

In an attempt to restrict kids access to online porn, the Spanish government has come up with an application called the "porn passport".

The application, which is officially called the Digital Wallet Beta (Cartera Digital Beta), was launched this week and will make it possible for internet sites to check if the user is above the age of 18.

How does the application work?

The porn viewers will have to download the application and verify their age for accessing the content. After getting verified, 30 generated “porn credits" will be given to them, which will have one month's validity.

The beautiful and mesmerising Northern Lights never disappoint people, when they sparkle across the sky. But the green aurora dazzles them even more when it is captured in the night sky amid the darkness of the space. The International Space Station (ISS) recorded the natural phenomena when their spacecraft passed by the Northern Lights at night time. This video of the celestial dance of the green aurora was captured on the social media platform Instagram.
A top Hamas official told AFP Friday the group expects a swift Israeli response -- "likely today or tomorrow morning" -- to its new "ideas" for halting the Gaza war and freeing hostages.

As an Israeli ended a first round of new talks with mediators in Qatar, Osama Hamdan also insisted that the group's military wing remains "in a good condition" to keep up the nine-month-old war.

Hamdan said there were no new concrete proposals in a document sent to Israel this week but "some ideas were proposed to overcome" Israeli reticence about a ceasefire.

"We are waiting to hear a response, likely today or tomorrow morning," he said. "If the response is positive, then we will discuss these ideas in detail because we will enter into the implementation discussion of these ideas, which... will not take long."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to send the head of the Mossad intelligence service, David Barnea, to Doha for talks with Qatari mediators and his delegation was expected to arrive on Friday.

Because of the devastation of the war, both sides face mounting international and domestic pressure to halt the conflict that started with the Hamas attacks in Israel on October 7.

The attack resulted in the deaths of 1,195 people, mostly civilians, according to an AFP tally based on Israeli figures. Hamas also seized 251 hostages, 116 of whom remain in Gaza, including 42 the army says are dead.

Israel's retaliatory offensive has killed at least 38,011 people, also mostly civilians, according to the Hamas-run territory's health ministry.

"The goal of negotiations is to cease the aggression, withdraw forces and allow the Palestinian people to rebuild Gaza, including shelter, relief and other details," Hamdan said. "Ultimately, a fair and suitable prisoner exchange deal must be completed."

Netanyahu has said there can be no halt to hostilities until all hostages are freed. He has also insisted that Israel will not stop its campaign to destroy Hamas's military and governance capabilities.

US President Joe Biden announced a pathway to a truce deal in May which he said had been proposed by Israel. This included a six-week truce to allow for talks, the release of hostages and eventually a programme to rebuild devastated Gaza.

Hamdan blamed Israel for the deadlock since Biden's announcement. "The Israeli side has made every effort to complicate matters and obstruct progress."

The Hamas leadership is "not talking about a new proposal nor something new," the official said. Talks would be on the existing proposals.

He said the Doha talks "will be a test for the US administration to see if it is willing to pressure the Zionist entity to accept these proposed ideas."

The official said that if the talks fail, Hamas is ready to keep fighting. "I can say that, by the grace of God, the capabilities of the resistance remain in a good condition that allows it to continue."

In a separate statement, Hamas said it rejected any proposals "that support plans to bring foreign forces into the (Gaza) Strip under any name or justification."

It added that Palestinian people "will not allow guardianship or the imposition of any external solutions" to the conflict. There have been calls, including from the Arab League, for UN peacekeepers to be deployed to Gaza.

"Ultimately, a fair and suitable prisoner exchange deal must be completed." 'Ball in Israel's court' Netanyahu has said there can be no halt to hostilities until all hostages are freed. "The Israeli side has made every effort to complicate matters and obstruct progress." Watch: Israel-Hamas war: Hezbollah says, 'would stop fighting with Israel after Gaza ceasefire' The Hamas leadership is "not talking about a new proposal nor something new," the official said. Talks would be on the existing proposals. "There are some ideas that have pushed things forward, and that is what has been discussed." He said the ideas had been "conveyed by the mediators to the American side, which welcomed them and passed them on to the Israeli side. Now the ball is in the Israeli court." He said the Doha talks "will be a test for the US administration to see if it is willing to pressure the Zionist entity to accept these proposed ideas." The official said that if the talks fail, Hamas is ready to keep fighting. "I can say that, by the grace of God, the capabilities of the resistance remain in a good condition that allows it to continue." In a separate statement, Hamas said it rejected any proposals "that support plans to bring foreign forces into the (Gaza) Strip under any name or justification." It added that Palestinian people "will not allow guardianship or the imposition of any external solutions" to the conflict. There have been calls, including from the Arab League, for UN peacekeepers to be deployed to Gaza.
