In an unbelievable incident, an Indian man - identified as Santosh Lohar hailing&nbsp;from the state of Bihar - dug his teeth in a snake after it bit him while he was sleeping.

The man, who was a resident of Nawada city, was sleeping at his base camp after completing the entire day's work of placing railway lines when he was attacked by the snake.&nbsp;

The man, who believed in the superstition that biting the snake helps in neutralising the venom, decided to do the same and bit the snake twice, as reported by the NDTV.

The 35-year-old man's unconventional response led to the death of the snake, however, he was also admitted to the hospital.

The man was rushed to the Rajauli subdivision hospital where he was treated by the doctors. Lohar soon recovered and the doctors discharged him the next day.&nbsp;

Earlier, a man in Fatehpur City of Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, lived after getting five snake bites in a span of two months which left the doctors astonished.&nbsp;

He was bitten by the snake on June 2, June 10, and June 17 and twice in July. However, the man's condition was stable and the doctors had called it a "strange" case.&nbsp;

<h2>Here's what one should 'ideally' do after a snake bite</h2>

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), if someone gets a snake bite, it is recommended that he/she act quickly and seek medical help.&nbsp;

If a person gets immediate medical attention, it prevents complications and decreases the risk of death or long-term disability.&nbsp;

Also, the person after getting bitten by the snake, should immediately leave the area and remove any jewellery or tight clothing.

The affected limb should be immobilised and it should be kept still. Nobody should try to suck out the venom. The victim should instead be taken to a health facility quickly and safely.

The search for extraterrestrial lives has been taken to the next level by space agency NASA which has made an 'alien-hunting' telescope, which will soon be launched and eventually will be able to find at least one inhabited planet by 2050.

The Habitable Worlds Observatory (HWO) has aimed to search for "wide variety of biosignatures" provided by living organisms after the telescope is launched around 2040.

NASA chief scientist Dr Jessie Christiansen believes that HWO will find "a signal in the atmosphere of a planet in the habitable zone of a star like our sun within our lifetime."

Nearly 25 Earth-like planets, near sun-like stars, have been identified by the scientists who are working on the project as potential candidates.&nbsp;

HWO's telescope is being considered a "Super Hubble" telescope which will directly image Earth-size planets circling other stars.

NASA creates alien-hunting telescope, aims to discover inhabited planet by 2050

Earth was seen engaged in a rare cosmic event last week when two huge asteroids made a flyby at a very close distance from the planet.

The asteroids, named 2024 MK and 2011 UL21, did not come so close to Earth to pose a hazard to the planet. However, both of them were within range of radar imaging systems.&nbsp;

The two asteroids were tracked by the scientists at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California.&nbsp;

It was found that one of the asteroids had a little moon orbiting it and the astronomers spotted the other only 13 days before it made its&nbsp;closest approach&nbsp;to Earth.&nbsp;

The asteroids passed near the Earth on June 27. They made a flyby at a distance of 4.1 million miles (6.6 million kilometres) which is 17 times the distance between the Earth and the moon.&nbsp;

In 2011, the asteroid 2011 UL21 was discovered by the Catalina Sky Survey in Tucson, Arizona.&nbsp;

“The term ‘Potentially Hazardous Asteroid’ (PHA) is a precise formal definition, referring to minor planets larger than approximately 140 metres [459 feet] that can come within 7.5 million km [4.6 million miles] from the Earth,” said Gianluca Masi, who is an astrophysicist and scientific director of the Virtual Telescope Project, in a&nbsp;statement&nbsp;before the flyby.&nbsp;

“In other words, only the largest asteroids capable of approaching close enough to our planet are flagged as PHAs, which does not mean they are going to hit the Earth, but they nonetheless warrant better monitoring," he added.

<h2>NASA says asteroids belonged to a binary system</h2>

NASA's Deep Space Network’s Goldstone planetary radar was closely watching the asteroids and captured it seven times as it moved at a speed of 25 kilometres (16 miles) per second.&nbsp;

NASA got the first chance to image the asteroid by using radar and in that they found that the asteroid belonged to a binary system.

“It is thought that about two-thirds of asteroids of this size are binary systems, and their discovery is particularly important because we can use measurements of their relative positions to estimate their mutual orbits, masses, and densities, which provide key information about how they may have formed,” said Lance Benner, who is a principal scientist at JPL who helped lead the observations, in a&nbsp;statement.

Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur International Airport entered into a mess after a gas leak at its engineering section led to chaos on July 4 (Thursday) and made 39 people sick, said a Malaysian&nbsp;emergency services official.&nbsp;

"A total of&nbsp;39&nbsp;victims suffered from dizziness and nausea," said local rescue officer Muhammad Nur Khairi Samsumin, in a statement.

He stated that all 24 victims were later discharged and 14 others were provided medical care at the Air Disaster Unit. Meanwhile, one person was hospitalised.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, fire services also responded after the chemical leak happened at the aircraft engineering facility. The facility is not connected to Kuala Lumpur International Airport's passenger terminal.&nbsp;

The leak affected the work of three companies which were operating at the&nbsp;facility. The air travel at the airport was not disrupted by the incident and the passengers or flights were not affected. Also, the chemical leak did not cause any risk to public safety.

<h2>Here's where the leak was traced</h2>

The police said that they traced the gas leak which was happening at a skid tank which was left unattended for nine years.

Local rescue officer Muhammad Nur said that the leaked gas was found to be methyl mercaptan and the source was discovered as an "unused tank" at the&nbsp;facility.

"Work to cover the&nbsp;leak&nbsp;was being done by the emergency crew," Nur said. He added that officials will dismantle and then dispose the tank.&nbsp;

In the last 17 days, nearly 12 bridges have collapsed across&nbsp;the Indian state of Bihar and the most recent&nbsp;one fell on Thursday&nbsp;(July 4) in Saran district.
&nbsp;
As per District Magistrate Aman Samir, this is the third bridge collapse which has happened in Saran in just two days.

In the collapse of the 15-year-old bridge in the Gandaki River, no casualties were reported. The bridge connected villages in Saran to the neighbouring Siwan district.&nbsp;

The cause of the bridge collapse is under investigation. However, the officials spoke about the recent desilting work happening in the area.&nbsp;

Among the three bridges in Saran, two were on the Gandak River, which was just a kilometre apart and had collapsed within&nbsp;two hours on Wednesday (July 3).

As per the petition, the collapse of bridges has raised concerns about the bridge infrastructures' safety and reliability in the region, especially taking into account that Bihar is the country's most flood-prone state.

"It is a matter of grave concern that in a state like Bihar, which is the most flood-prone state of India, the total flood-affected area in the state is 68,800 sq. km which is 73.06 per cent of the total geographical area. Hence such routine accrual of the incident of falling bridges in Bihar is more disastrous as the lives of people at large are at stake. Therefore the urgent intervention of this Hon'ble Court is required to save the lives of people, as the under-construction bridges before its accomplishment collapsed routinely," said the petitioner, in the PIL.

Meanwhile, Bihar Development Secretary Chaitanya Prasad said that 11 engineers of the water resources department were suspended, in the wake of the bridge collapse.&nbsp;

Pakistan's government has raised the taxes by 40 per cent, which was the highest on record. The increase was part of the national budget introduced last week which was aimed at meeting conditions proposed by the International Monetary Fund for getting a new bailout.

As the country battles its economic woes, milk prices increased by more than a fifth in Pakistan after the government introduced a new 'milk tax' which made the dairy staple costlier than it is in Australia, France and other developed countries.

The scientists for the first time created 3D brain models with the use of cells from multiple people.

The researchers have made these new hybrid creations, which are called "chimeroids". These tiny 3D models are variations of brain organoids which are made of tissue which are structured like a full-size brain and function in the same way.

These models are more accurate to human biology in comparison to 2D cellular models or animals such as lab mice. With the help of these models, scientists think that they can&nbsp;accelerate drug research and development.&nbsp;

Generally, brain organoids are grown from cells which are collected from only one donor. Such brain organoids don't capture the genetic variability which exists between people and have the potential to impact the brain development of individuals and their responses to drugs.

The stem cells of five people were collected by the researchers to make the chimeroids and then growth-inducing chemicals were used in the lab to push the growth of brain organoids, each of which contained cells from just one person.

The resulting organoids were then torn by the scientists and recombined their cells to form chimeroids. With this, every chimeroid had an equal number of cells taken from each person.&nbsp;

The scientists were left stunned when they found a rare vampire squid, the second known living species, inside the deep water off Hainan island, China. Vampire squid, also known as Vampyroteuthis infernalis, has a length of nearly 1 foot (0.3 metres). These squids are deep-sea scavengers, which are unlikely to harm anything aside from small invertebrates. They generally gravitate toward dead animals and faeces. The species is said to remain in temperate and tropical ocean environments in various areas of the world. This species was for the first time officially recognised in 1903 after a deep-sea expedition headed by German marine biologist Carl Chun. Also Read: Enormous 24-foot shark washes up on UK beach, officials use a forklift to remove the beast Later, a number of additional species were found which were actually the members of the same species. These newly discovered species were juvenile forms of V infernalis which had different physical characteristics. This kind of squid grows a second set of fins near its head while it matures and then its original fins disappear. Speaking to Live Science, a marine biologist at the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology and study lead author Dajun Qiu said, "Ten synonymous species that had previously been described showed some morphological differences in their various life stages." Vampire species seen lurking in sea's twilight zone In a study, which appeared on May 2 in the preprint journal BioRxiv, the researchers said that they found the second species of the vampire squid to have exited on Earth in the South China Sea, near Hainan island, China in 2016, which they called as V pseudoinfernalis. It was seen swimming nearly 2,600 to 3,300 feet (800 to 1,000 metres) below the sea surface in the sea's twilight zone, where very little light penetrates from the surface. The biologists have observed some unique characteristics in this species which make it different from V infernalis. Qiu said that the genetic analysis further stated that V pseudoinfernalis is a distinct species. Watch: Rare bright bioluminescent squid filmed by scientists "We will analyse more specimens to ensure that observed morphological differences are consistent in the future. It seems likely that its diet is similar to its better-known relative, but research is ongoing," he said. According to the study, V. infernalis and the proposed V. pseudoinfernalis are part of the order Vampyromorphida, however, their various extinct relatives are present in the fossil record. In 2022, a new species was found in Luxembourg. It had a fish clasped in its tentacles and was preserved by scientists, as per a 2024 paper. (With inputs from agencies)

A female teacher in the United Kingdom&nbsp;was sentenced to&nbsp;six-and-a-half years in prison by the Manchester Crown Court for having sex with two schoolboys and getting pregnant by one of them.

The teacher, identified as Rebecca Joynes, groomed the two boys from the age of 15 after first interacting with them on social media, said the court.&nbsp;

Earlier, the 30-year-old teacher was convicted of four counts of sexual activity with a child as well as two counts of sexual activity with another child.

She was crying in the dock when the court pronounced the imprisonment.

The teenager, with whom she had a child, said in a victim impact statement that he was earlier "completely in denial" regarding the abuse.

The teen, who was being referred to as Boy B, said that he felt like he had "betrayed someone I love" while giving evidence against her.

"I questioned if I was right to give statements about the woman who was carrying my child, since then I have replayed a lot of things in my head, and spoken to a lot of people, and it has made me realise the full extent of the abuse carried out on me and the tactics that were used to do so," he said.

"I was coerced, controlled, manipulated, sexually abused, and mentally abused," the boy said.&nbsp;

The boy, who dropped out of the school, said the abuse "tore my family apart" and they have been struggling to come to terms with the horrific incident.

<h2>Judge calls out the teacher for her 'breathtaking arrogance'</h2>

Speaking to the defendant, Judge Kate Cornell said, “There is a breathtaking arrogance in your conduct. You were the adult. You were the person in control, the person who should have known better and entrusted by the school and the boys and by their parents of caring for their sons. Instead, you abused that position of trust and exploited the privileged role for your own sexual gratification.”

To this, the judge replied, “Well Miss Joynes, there is no doubt this is a crime. Both boys were very much victims, obviously unworldly and vulnerable to the advances from an older attractive woman."&nbsp;
