On May 22, a rain-drenched British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced early general elections in the United Kingdom outside Downing Street in a surprise move.

This was the beginning of the battleground between the Conservative Party and Labour Party in which the two political parties are free to wield the sword of their choice to ensure their conquest.

He visited rural Buckinghamshire, a traditional Tory heartland, just three days before the elections - which experts labelled as a winning step.

At this time, the voters are upset over various issues - which are the poor performance of the hospitals, local governments running out of money with Birmingham declaring bankruptcy, prisons reaching their breaking point and living standards dramatically dropping.

Here's the risk involved in water fasting

Water fasting helps in weight loss while restricting calorie intake and forces the body to burn stored fat for energy.

It gives the digestive system a break, improves insulin sensitivity, increases autophagy and improves mental clarity. However, water fasting also has some detrimental effects on the body.

Water fasting involves long periods without food which leads to deficiencies in nutrients like electrolytes, vitamins and minerals. This can lead to weakness, dizziness and other severe health issues.

Water is important for hydration, however, consuming excessive water without electrolyte balance leads to electrolyte imbalances and dehydration.

Prolonged water fasting also slows down metabolism when the body adjusts to conserving energy and leads to a rebound in weight gain after fasting comes to an end.

People with certain medical conditions like diabetes, cardiovascular diseases or eating disorders should not choose water fasting. In case they opt to follow that, they should do it under strict medical supervision.

Medically supervised fasting programmes or intermittent fasting are safer options in comparison to water fasting. Such regimes can prove beneficial for the body.

The hunt for life on Mars has continued for decades as scientists try to find even the slightest hint of the presence of living creatures.

NASA’s Curiosity rover, which has been moving on the surface of Mars, has now spent nearly 12 years solving the mystery of life on the Red Planet.
