The James Webb Space Telescope recently captured one of the dramatic exits of stars in space, as they exploded to form supernovae.

The details of the Cassiopeia A, which was the remnant of one such explosion of stars, were clearly captured by the telescope.

Cassiopeia A, also known as Cas A, is one of the stellar explosions that took place happened 340 years ago.

NASA said that Cas A can help scientists find the origin of cosmic dust. This discovery is important because cosmic dust is the building of what becomes planets, stars and eventually, life.

It has been revealed in scientific observations that cosmic dust permeates even the young galaxies present in the early universe.

Supernovae like Cas A release huge amounts of heavy elements across space. These heavy elements make up cosmic dust and, therefore, it is difficult to explain the cosmic dust's origin without attributing it to some supernovae.

The problem that astronomers encounter is that they do not explain the amount of dust they see in the early galaxies on the basis of current observations of supernovae.

Scientists hope that they may get some clarity on the amount of dust present through Cas A which has been captured by the James Webb Space Telescope.

As per Temim, regions of supernovae like Cas A can be spatially resolved by the researchers to study the different gas compositions and understand the types of dust formed in those regions.

It is important to study Cas A and other similar supernovae to understand the origin of life. Elements like iron and calcium which are present in space are spread across interstellar space through supernovae, and provide the seeds for new planets and stars.

Dramatic exit! James Webb captures image of cataclysmic star explosion

The election staff of an entire county resigned from their positions in Virginia, United States in the wake of increasing voter fraud claims.

Registrar Lindsey Taylor, who was hired in 2019, loved conducting elections and had hoped to continue the job for three decades, just like the previous registrar.

Taylor loved the election staff as well as the volunteer poll workers and was proud of the detail-oriented work they did. Dozen of new laws were implemented by her in 2020 and elections were conducted by her through the pandemic, impressing the citizens living in the rural, tight-knit community of Buckingham County.

However, things took an ugly turn after the voter fraud claims started. In January, the Buckingham County Electoral Board's control was assumed by the GOP. Buckingham County was overseeing her office and baseless voter fraud claims started being advanced by local Republicans that left her baffled.

It was made clear by the electoral board that it wanted Taylor out of the job.

“There were people saying that they had heard all these rumours — that the attorney general was going to indict me,” said Taylor. “Mentally, I just — I couldn’t take it anymore,” she added.

Three weeks ago, Taylor as well as two part-time staffers resigned from their jobs. After their resignations, a deputy registrar also quit the job in February, citing a similar conflict.

The four resignations left residents without an employee at the registrar’s office. Temporarily, the people have no way to register their vote or certify the paperwork of the candidate.

“It’s just sad that the big lie has come to Buckingham. And before it was never here,” stated Margaret Thomas, who had worked as Buckingham County's general registrar for more than 28 years before retirement.

Pope Francis was in an unconscious state when he was suffering from bronchitis and was taken to the hospital two weeks ago, and he could have died, as per an Italian man who has been widely reported to have spoken with him regularly.

The Italian man claimed that he had last talked to the pontiff on Saturday. The 86-year-old pope was admitted to Gemelli Hospital on March 29 in Rome and was three days later discharged by the hospital. During the Easter celebration he led last week, the pope appeared in good health.

Michele Ferri, who belongs to the central Italian city of Pesaro, while speaking to Reuters said that the pope's health appeared better in their latest conversation compared to the last time when the two men spoke in January.

"He seemed very tired (back then)," said Ferri. He confirmed the remarks he had made earlier, while speaking to the Italian regional newspaper Il Resto del Carlino, in which he had quoted the pope as saying, "A few more hours and I'm not sure I would have been around to tell it."

"I told him: you really gave us a fright!" said Ferri.

The Italian media widely quotes Ferri as someone who regularly speaks to the pope, since he was first called by Pope Francis to comfort him after his brother's death who had died in a robbery a decade ago.

It is known that the pope keeps a small list of people he contacts regularly, generally for giving them comfort after some tragedy.

The names of such people close to the Pope have never been confirmed by the Vatican but the institution does not deny that the Pope speaks to Ferri.

The Vatican, however, did not respond to the comment on the latest remarks of Ferri.

The pope was healthy enough to preside over the Easter celebrations last week except for a Good Friday night-time outdoor service held in Rome which the Vatican stated that he skipped because of unseasonably cold weather.

Francis has been suffering from various ailments which include a bad knee that restricts his walking abilities. One part of his lungs was removed when he was young because of an illness in Argentina.

United States President Joe Biden will reach Belfast on Tuesday at a time when Northern Ireland is going through a delicate political situation to mark the peace deal's 25-year anniversary that ended 30 years of bloodshed.

During his visit, Biden is likely to meet five main Northern Irish parties' representatives on Wednesday before delivering his speech at Belfast's Ulster University. However, the US president does not plan to pressurise the representatives, said a senior administration official.

A flight attendant's in-flight announcement in an aircraft of Spirit Airlines left the passengers in a split, as she blasted the airlines for offering fewer amenities, and not providing outlets and earplugs.

A traveller, who has the username @cali.style.trucking, posted a video last month of a flight attendant who was present on his Spirit Airlines flight from Dallas, Texas, to Los Angeles, California.

In the video clip, the attendant can be seen standing next to one of the phones installed on the flight and making a sarcastic announcement about the amenities provided by the airlines.

“Just a heads up, hi. No, we do not have sockets for you to plug up your phone. Because if we did, this is Spirit and we will charge you,” the flight attendant said.

The passengers laughed at the remarks of the flight attendant, as she continued that the plane lacked reclining seats and didn't even have blankets.

The co-workers can be seen smiling while listening to the attendant's in-flight announcement and encouraging passengers to respond to her comment about the amenities on the plane.

“And no, we do not have earplugs for you. Because if we did, y’all know this is Spirit and we would do what?” she quizzed.

A few passengers softly responded, after which the flight attendant said, “Come on y’all, if we had it we would charge you and give you something to complain about.”

She said that though she “wished” to give passengers “all” that they wanted on the airplane, the airlines “unfortunately did not have it”.

Then, the flight attendant noted that no cash would be accepted by Spirit Airlines for in-flight purchases before joking about how she would use the cash if given to her.

“I can only accept your cash to pay my bills, I promise you if you want to do that I will not stop you. But for Spirit, we need card, we need a tap to pay, Google Pay, Apple Pay. One way or another, we just want you to pay,” she stated.

She concluded the announcement by asking passengers to “sit back, relax, and enjoy” their flight to California.

Replying to the tweet, Shekar said, "The wild thing was my sambar was suppper spicy and my paneer wasn’t (I went with Indian mild). So torn about what to do next time! (sic)"

A Chinese boy, who is just 11 years, cycled for almost 24 hours to reach his grandmother's home and complain to her about his mother with whom he fought. The news left social media users amused.

Finally, the boy got exhausted and was discovered alone in an expressway tunnel by passers-by, reported local media outlet Meilizhejiang.

The police officers who came to take the boy with them were surprised to know that he was cycling for more than 22 hours and had covered almost 130 kilometres after leaving his house in Hangzhou in Zhejiang province of eastern China.

The boy was cycling to reach his grandmother’s home which is located in Meijiang, a county in Zhejiang so that he could share his grievances after fighting with his mother.

While cycling, the boy navigated with the help of road signs and said that he took several wrong turns. Due to the wrong turns, it took him twice as long as it should have to reach the point he was found, however, he was only one hour away from his destination.

He said to the police that he continued cycling through the night while eating bread and drinking water simultaneously, which he had brought from home.

After the boy was taken back to the nearest police station, he was carried by the officers from the car into the police station, as he could not walk due to exhaustion.

Later in the evening, he was picked up by both the parent and grandmother of the boy. The boy's mother stated that he had threatened to go to his grandmother’s home but she assumed that it was “just a tantrum”.

Pakistan Occupied Kashmir's (PoK) High Court bench on Tuesday disqualified Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas from the legislative assembly for contempt of court.

After the court's verdict, Ilyas won't be holding the office of PoK's prime minister and a new premier will be elected by the legislative assembly.

The courts of PoK had on Monday served separate notices to Ilyas asking him to explain his position over his “derogatory remarks about the superior judiciary in his speeches at public meetings”.

The notices, which were served through the PM's principal secretary, asked Ilyas to make separate appearances before the Supreme Court and the high court on Tuesday.

During a function held in Islamabad, Ilyas had indirectly held the judiciary responsible for affecting his government's functioning and interfering in the executive's domain through the grant of stay orders.

Ilyas had made a particular reference to a $15 million Saudi-funded education sector project, stating that it was in limbo because a stay order was issued on it by the court.

He also took strong exception to the “de-sealing by the courts of tobacco factories involved in tax evasion to the tune of billions of rupees”.

The high court's judgement was read out on Tuesday by Justice Chaudhry Khalid Rasheed, sentencing the PoK premier till the rising of the court.

After the announcement of the court's verdict, Ilyas - who was supposed to make an appearance before the Supreme Court – went to the Prime Minister’s House accompanied by the cabinet members.

Speaking on the court's verdict, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry said that whether it was Pakistan's prime minister or that of PoK, respecting the court's decision was necessary.

“This country cannot be run by destroying the judicial system,” he stated, appealing to Ilyas to apologise and stating that he hoped the Supreme Court would give him relief.

He added that Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif should learn a lesson from the court's verdict.

Presenting the clip of the prime minister's speech in the court's order, the PoK court said that a discussion was held on the matter by the judges’ council “in view of its seriousness” and it was unanimously decided “it could not be overlooked because the dignity and authority of the courts was on stake and nobody could be allowed to undermine it”.

“However, […] before issuing contempt notice we are intended to ask the prime minister to appear in person and explain his position on the referred news,” the court stated. Identical observations were made by the high court.

“Prime Minister Tanveer Ilyas has directly threatened the superior judiciary and the language of his speech at a public meeting is highly derogatory, improper and indecently worded,” the order stated.

Not just the latest statement, but his “previous track record from several months is [also] objectionable, unbecoming and improper,” it further stated.

The order read that the high court judges’ council unanimously decided not to leave the matter unattended “simply by shutting [its] eye from contemptuous and derogatory statement of the person who is at the helm of affairs.”

“By showing magnanimity and judicial restraint, we have opted, in the beginning of the proceedings, to serve a notice on the prime minister to personally appear before the full court to explain his position,” it added.

India is gearing up to conduct the first trial run of the underwater metro train in Kolkata. Under West Bengal's Hooghly River, tunnels have been constructed for the trial.

Two tunnels have been constructed between the East-West Metro Corridor, which connects Sector V in Salt Lake to Howrah Maidan, beneath the Hooghly.

The Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMRC) had scheduled a Sunday trial run on one part of this route, however, the officials abruptly postponed it.

The corporation stated that they will soon conduct the trial run. In the trial run, a metro train having two to six coaches will travel the 4.8 km-long stretches between Esplanade and Howrah Maidan.

In 1984, the first metro in the nation was also inaugurated in Kolkata city. The metro started running in New Delhi in 2002, much later than in Kolkata.

The metro train will run at a speed of 80km/h in the tunnels carved out from the Hooghly riverbed. It will take less than a minute to cover the passage beneath the river.

The 16 km long rail route has underground sections spread over 10.8 km length. The part of the river, which is downstream, is also included.

The metro train will be 13 metres beneath the Hooghly River’s bed and the Howrah metro station will be 33 deep, making it the deepest station in the country. The tunnel will have exists for emergencies like earthquakes.

Approximately, 157 crores have been spent per kilometre to construct an underwater tunnel inside the Hooghly River.

According to the report, the commercial service's commencement will depend on the success of the trials. The KMRC had earlier stated that India's first underwater metro service, called the East-West Metro Corridor project, is likely to get completed by December 2023.

KMRC General Manager Civil Shailesh Kumar said, “The ongoing underwater tunnel project is likely to be completed by December 2023. Some rehabilitation works are in process and other issues are delaying the completion of the underwater metro project.”

The East-West corridor of Kolkata Metro is 15 kilometres long and stretches from Howrah to Salt Lake City Stadium.

In the latest development in the world of artificial intelligence, researchers are now working on a technology which can detect if a person has a cold or not from the tone of their voice.

AI has emerged as a breakthrough in the world of technology ever since the inception of tools like Microsoft’s new Bing, OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard.

New ways of using artificial intelligence are being explored by people and the emerging technology is being experimented with at a large scale.

And now reports have emerged that researchers have developed the technology in a way that is capable of detecting if a person is suffering from cold from the tone of their voice.

AI technology may prove useful in helping people detect if they have caught a cold, however, this can prove troublesome for employees who apply for fake sick leaves, lying about suffering from a cold when they are absolutely healthy.

If this technology of detecting cold becomes another revolutionary product in future, it will provide employers with the power to detect which employee is actually suffering from cold and who is faking it just by their voices over a call.

According to a report published by Business Insider, originally attributed to The Economist, the researchers working at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat were able to successfully analyse the vocal patterns collected from 630 people.

Out of these, the technology was able to detect that 111 were suffering from a cold. The researchers analysed the vocal patterns to check if the technology can spot the right people who are actually affected by a cold.

The report added that harmonics (vocal rhythms in human speech) were used by the study to detect the presence of cold in people. As per the science applied in the technology, the harmonics decrease in amplitude when the person's frequency increases.

A person, who has caught a cold, shows an irregular pattern of frequency. Depending on this phenomenon, machine-learning algorithms were utilised by researchers to analyse various individuals' amplification differences and spot those who were suffering from a cold.

It was further reported that the people subjected to the experiment were asked to count from 1 to 40 followed and then describe the activities they did over the weekend.

They were further asked to read Aesop's fable titled The North Wind and the Sun. The accuracy achieved by the study in detecting cold was 70 per cent.

ALSO READ | AI might crack your password in less than a minute. Here's how you can secure your account And now reports have emerged that researchers have developed the technology in a way that is capable of detecting if a person is suffering from cold from the tone of their voice.
