A massive row was sparked by the participation of a Hamas leader at an event in Kerala as the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stated that the incident displayed “the failure of the Pinarayi Vijayan government” and the event's organisers tried to justify it as “nothing unusual”.

On Saturday, Hamas leader Khaled Mashal took part in the event virtually and even addressed a protest programme organised by an Islamist group in the state against Israel's war against the terrorist outfit.

Justifying Mashal's presence, the organisers said that many Hamas leaders spoke at events in Kerala and India has not banned Hamas.

Three months after 105 antiquities, which were earlier smuggled, came back to India, the United States is sending another batch of 1,414 objects back to the country, which will include antiquities from New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art (Met).

As per the official sources, these objects have already been given to the Consulate General of India in New York. According to the procedure, a team from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), which has been the custodian of all Indian antiquities, will be sent to the United States to carry out the verification of the objects after which the officials will initiate the repatriation, as reported by The Indian Express.

A senior official stated that the batch includes a few antiquities which will be from Met. In an earlier report, it was revealed that a treasure trove which belonged to the Met could be traced back to antique dealer Subhash Kapoor, who was imprisoned on charges of smuggling antiquities.

On March 30, a statement was issued by the Met in which it claimed that it would “transfer 15 sculptures for return to the Government of India, after having learned that the works were illegally removed from India”.

The government of India in July said that the Met's objects were likely to reach the country in the next three to six months. On July 17, the Indian Consulate in New York was given 105 antiquities by the US authorities, which will be repatriated to India in August this year. As per a report published in the Associated Press, the woman and her then-husband had taken this decision after facing difficulties in conceiving.

US: Woman sues fertility doctor, accuses him of secretly inseminating his sperm 34 years ago

A day after Infosys founder Narayana Murthy sparked a huge debate over working hours by suggesting that the young generation should work for 70 hours in a week, JSW Chairman Sajjan Jindal on Friday (Oct 27) jumped into the debate and supported the Infosys co-founder.

Jindal believed that the specific circumstances of India, which are different from those of a few developed economies, make it important for the country not to adopt "shorter work weeks" as the norm.

"I wholeheartedly endorse Mr Narayana Murthy's statement. It's not about burnout, it's about dedication. We have to make India an economic superpower that we can all be proud of in India 2047," wrote Jindal, in a post on X, which was formerly known as Twitter.
