Seven people were injured and two went missing after a gas explosion took place in downtown Youngstown, Ohio on Tuesday (May 28), said officials.

The blast took place on the first floor of a 13-storey building on E Federal Street which has the office of Chase Bank at around 2:45 pm local time, reported WFMJ.

The explosion took place near Central Square on Tuesday afternoon (May 28) as people were appealed by the police to avoid the area.

According to Youngstown Fire Chief Barry Finley, the blast was a natural gas explosion and added that the crews were determined to find if there was a gas leak.

"All I know for sure is that there was an explosion," said Finley, while speaking to reporters in a press conference.

On Tuesday (May 28), Mercy Health said that they are treating seven people who suffered injuries in the blast, which included one person who was in critical condition.

After searching the building, a man and woman remained missing, said Finley. The fire chief said that the man was an employee of the bank.

After the blast, the floor collapsed in the basement which was flooded and search crews tried to send a mini-drone into the basement to help in the search effort, Finley said.

“The floor collapsed in on itself, there’s nothing to see, it’s full of water, so honestly, we don’t know if that person is down there or not. When we get clearance to go into the building… until then, I will not put any of my firefighters down there to do a search for any reason right now,” he added.

Dramatic footage of the explosion was recorded in a security camera in which windows were seen shattering and debris flying across the street after the violent blast.

Massive explosion rocks Ohio building as windows shatter and debris fly across street: Video

A mysterious object was released into the Earth's orbit by China’s top-secret spaceplane nearly 372 miles above the surface.

The situation is being monitored by the US Space Force, however, the reason why the mysterious object was ejected on May 24 remains unknown.

The mysterious object was first spotted by a Harvard astrophysicist who speculated that it could be a subsatellite deployment or perhaps a piece of hardware which was released by the spaceplane before its mission ended and it deorbited.

Harvard-Smithsonian Centre for Astrophysics' Jonathan McDowell, after first spotting the object, wrote on X, "This object could be a subsatellite deployment, or it could be a piece of hardware ejected prior to end of the mission and deorbit (the spaceplane's first flight did something similar)."

The spacecraft, which was named Shenlong after a Chinese mythological spirit dragon, was launched last December and since then, it has released several objects into orbit. This action of the Chinese spaceplane has sent strong signals to the United States.

China has remained secretive regarding the spaceplane which it said has the job of providing "technical support for the peaceful use of space."

“After operating in orbit for a period of time, the experimental spacecraft will return to the designated landing site in China,” stated China’s state media outlet Xinhuanet.

“During this period, it will carry out reusable technology verification and space science experiments as planned, providing technical support for the peaceful use of space," it added.

China launched the craft one day after the United States scrubbed the flight of its ‘spy’ plane. The US Space Force chief said that this was 'no coincidence.'

"It's probably no coincidence that they're trying to match us in timing and sequence of this," said General Chance Saltzman, Space Force's Chief of Space Operations.

US Space Force tracks down mysterious object

Currently, the mysterious object is being tracked down by the United States Space Force.

Meanwhile, amateur astronomer Scott Tilley, who was tracking the spaceplane when the six objects were ejected in December and signals were emitted over North America, said the signals most probably targeted a ground station or boat which was close to British Columbia, Canada.

"When the spaceplane passes over me, it only emits on a certain trajectory of pass that appears to favor a location south to southwest of me," Tilley said.

"I.e., on higher elevation passes over me, there are no signals, but on ocean-hugging passes to my southwest, all of my observations of the object have occurred," he added.

Tilley joined a group in Switzerland that specialises in optical-band space surveillance and the collaboration has been able to monitor the plane since it launched on December 15.

In the latest discovery amid ongoing excavations in Pompeii, the archaeologists have now found two sets of human remains, different kinds of paintings, and some doodles made by children which were buried in a volcanic eruption.

In the 16th century, archaeologists discovered Pompeii and it has remained an active archaeological site to date. Because of the way in which the city was destroyed, it was entirely covered in ash released by Mount Vesuvius.

The latest report of the team on the new discoveries was published in the Pompeii Sites’ e-journal. Among these discoveries, what stood out for archaeologists was the frescoes of ancient gladiators.

Archaeologists decode child-drawn frescoes

As per the experts, it is believed that the children drew the sketches of gladiators on the walls after watching their battles at the amphitheatre of Pompeii.

The charcoal frescoes were discovered during excavations at I’Insula dei Casti Amanti, which is a group of homes located in Pompeii’s archaeological park which was opened for the public for the first time on Tuesday (May 28).

Meanwhile, other frescoes made on a long wall included the outline of three small hands, a hunting scene of an animal which looked like a boar, two people playing with a ball and two boxers lying on the ground.

Director of Pompeii’s archaeological park Gabriel Zuchtriegel said the sketches were probably made by one or more children who played in a courtyard before the destruction happened after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD79.

“Together with psychologists from the Federico II [university of Naples], we have come to the conclusion that the drawings of gladiators and hunters were made based on a direct vision, and not of pictorial models. They had probably witnessed battles in the amphitheatre, thus coming into contact with an extreme form of spectacularised violence," he said.

Meanwhile, Italian Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano said: “More and more, Pompeii is revealing wonderful new discoveries that confirm [the site] as an extraordinary treasure chest.”

The first excavations in Pompeii ruins started in 1748 and it is the world's second most visited archaeological site.

Social media has been flooded with the phrase "All eyes on Rafah" as people from across the world are coming out in support of Palestinians who are facing a dire situation in Rafah city of war-torn Gaza.

At least 45 people, who had taken shelter in tents in Rafah, were killed in Israeli shelling and airstrikes as part of the latest assault.

The Gaza medics said that in the strikes hundreds of civilians also suffered shrapnel and burn wounds. The attack was condemned by world leaders.

Meanwhile, Israel called the loss of life "a tragic accident" and its army stated that munitions alone may not have led to the deadly blaze, further stating that two senior Hamas militants were targetted and killed in the strike.

This recent assault triggered global outrage against Israel as many people took to social media to protest against the deadly attack.

What is the 'All Eyes On Rafah' slogan?

The slogan 'All Eyes On Rafah' seems to have come into existence from a comment made by World Health Organization’s Office of the Occupied Palestinian Territories director Rick Peeperkorn.

In February, Peeperkorn said "All eyes are on Rafah" days after an evacuation plan was ordered by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu before implementing the planned attacks to eliminate militant group Hamas' strongholds.

The phrase refers to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and has now become a global trend which is being shared to extend support to the Palestinians who are suffering.

The phrase is a call by people to avoid looking away from what kind of situation is unfolding in the city of Rafah. Nearly 1.4 million Gazans have taken shelter in Rafah after fleeing from violent fighting expanding in other areas of Gaza.

Israel has continued its Rafah assault even though the top UN court had asked it to halt its operation in the wake of the large civilian population living in the area.

Organisations as well as lobbying groups - Jewish Voice for Peace, Save the Children, Americans for Justice in Palestine Action, the Palestine Solidarity Campaign and Oxfam - raised the slogan.

The slogan has also been used by protesters as a rallying cry in Paris, London, the Netherlands, New York City, Los Angeles and beyond.

Ohio businessman and billionaire Larry Connor, while speaking to The Wall Street Journal last week, spoke in detail about how he wished to prove that people can safely dive to the Titanic wreckage site when proper engineering is employed.

After the news came in about Titan's suspected implosion in June 2023, Connor dialled up Triton Submarine's CEO Patrick Lahey who had criticised the safety practices of OceanGate publicly and called its CEO "predatory". He also emphasised that they can make something better.

“[Connor said], you know, what we need to do is build a sub that can dive to [Titanic-level depths] repeatedly and safely and demonstrate to the world that you guys can do that, and that Titan was a contraption,’” said Lahey, while speaking to The Wall Street Journal.

Connor and Lahey are planning to take a sub at a depth of nearly 3,800m (12,467ft) to witness the shipwreck sitting on the bed of the North Atlantic Ocean.

“I want to show people worldwide that while the ocean is extremely powerful, it can be wonderful and enjoyable and really kind of life-changing if you go about it the right way," said Connor.

A spokesperson for Connor’s company on Tuesday (May 28) said that the proposed voyage will only happen after the vessel is fully certified by a marine organisation. However, no timeframe has been decided for the planned expedition.

5 Health Benefits Of Brisk Walking For 10 Minutes After Every Meal

The experts have always suggested that it is good to walk for a few minutes after a meal and not sit down or lie down immediately after lunch or dinner. Here are five health benefits of brisk walking:

Brisk walking for 10 minutes after every meal improves digestion as it stimulates the stomach and intestines and food moves through the system more quickly.

Brisk walking decreases cholesterol and blood pressure and the risk of heartburn, heart attack, stroke, and other heart problems.

According to experts, not moving after a meal may lead to excessive spikes in your blood sugar levels, which will eventually overwhelm your liver and muscles.

Regular walking after a meal helps in maintaining or losing weight. It also aids with appetite regulation and decreases the urge to consume unhealthy snacks in between meals.

Brisk walking, especially after dinner, helps regulate the circadian rhythm and improves the natural sleep-wake cycle of the body which makes it easier to fall asleep.

Pope Francis, while speaking about the non-admission of homosexual men in church seminaries because of the presence of 'too much' gay sexual activity, used an offensive slur which left the bishops shocked in Italy.

Pope Francis, while speaking about the non-admission of homosexual men in church seminaries because of the presence of 'too much' gay sexual activity, used an offensive slur which left the bishops shocked in Italy. The Vatican claimed on Tuesday that Pope Francis did not mean to use homophobic term and apologises to anybody who was affected by it. In an email statement, Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni stated, "The pope never intended to offend or express himself in homophobic terms, and he apologises to those who felt offended by the use of a term reported by others." A closed-door meeting was being held by the pontiff at an episcopal conference at the Vatican where it was being discussed that homosexual men should not be admitted to colleges for priesthood training, according to Italian media reports. During the meeting, the bishops were taken aback by the 87-year-old pontiff's language when he used the derogatory word 'frociaggine', a vulgar Italian word that roughly translates to "faggotry" in English. Here's what Pope Francis said Citing sources, Italian news agency Adnkronos reported that Pope Francis in his speech said, "Look: there is already an air of f*****ry around that is not good. There is today's culture of homosexuality with respect to those who have a homosexual orientation [who] are better off not being accepted [into the seminary]." Also Read: 16 nuns denounce Pope Francis, break from Catholic Church under excommunicated Bishop An 'incredulous laughter' broke out in the room after the remarks were made by Pope Francis, said bishops, while speaking to the newspaper Corriere della Sera. According to some, this was an honest mistake made by Pope Francis, whose second language is Italian. They argued that the Pope was not aware of how offensive the word was. Pope Francis' alleged remarks, which have gone against recent moves for amending seminary admission rules, have come as a surprise for some since Francis is known to have a more liberal view on LGBT rights in comparison to his predecessors. The pontiff had last year called the laws which criminalised homosexuality a 'sin' and an 'injustice', and permitted Catholic priests to bless same-sex couples, which was a step ahead for LGBT rights in the church. However, a similar message on gay seminarians was delivered by the Pope, which did not include the reported swear word, during his meeting with Italian bishops in 2018 in which he asked them to carefully vet priesthood applicants and not include anyone who is suspected of being homosexual. Former priest says 'stunned' by Pope Francis' remarks A former priest and gay rights activist Francesco Lepore said that he was 'stunned' by the comments allegedly made by Pope Francis. Watch: New members of Swiss Guard sworn in to protect the Pope Francis "Despite being accustomed by now to the type of direct language on the part of Bergoglio, speaking of 'f***ry' in the seminaries seems more like a bar and a tavern than a Pontiff," Lepore said while speaking to la Repubblica, using Pope Francis' birth name Jorge Mario Bergoglio. "This expression would never have appeared on the lips of Paul VI, John Paul II or Benedict XVI, who also took damning positions towards homosexuality," said the former priest. "The Pope is right that the number of homosexual seminarians and clerics is very high. But the simplicity of language has nothing to do with vulgarity," he added. (With inputs from agencies)

NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory along with the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF)'s National Radio Astronomical Observatory's (NRAO) Very Long Baseline Array spotted gargantuan black holes firing strong beams of supercharged particles which were slowly changing direction over millions of years. The supermassive black holes were seen spinning in different directions and shooting these particle jets in deep space. In a statement, Astrophysicist Francesco Ubertosi said, "We found that about a third of the beams are now pointing in completely different directions than before. These Death Star black holes are swivelling around and pointing at new targets, like the fictional space station in Star Wars." Also Read: Parasite black holes devouring stars from inside, says study As per a new paper published in The Astrophysical Journal, these cosmic jets which were released from every black hole in two opposite-facing streams created cavities in clouds of gas. Supermassive black holes are a type of colossal black holes which are present at the centres of many galaxies, which include our own Milky Way. As per the paper, scientists can understand the direction of the jets which were released from 16 supermassive black holes by investigating pairs of bubbles present in clouds of gas in space. The force of the powerful particle beams may have created such cavities in gas. Scientists remain puzzled about the change in the direction of jets It was found by the researchers that many of the black holes, which were studied, changed the direction in which their jets were released by around 90 degrees. In a statement, study co-author and researcher at the Harvard & Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CFA) Gerrit Schellenberger said, "Considering that these black holes are likely more than 10 billion years old, we consider a large change in direction over a few million years to be fast. Changing the direction of the giant black hole beams in about a million years is analogous to changing the direction of a new battleship in a few minutes." Watch: Scientists unveil Black Hole's plunge, bizarre region around black holes found The researchers have failed to figure out how the black holes are turning their beams in different directions, as they were earlier believed to align with the axis. It is around this axis that the black holes continue to rotate. As per the scientists, if the material falls into the black hole at an angle which is not parallel to its disk it may change the direction that is faced by this rotational axis. In the statement, co-author and a researcher at CFA Jan Vrtilek said, "It's possible that material rapidly falling towards the black holes at a different angle for long enough would drag their rotation axes in a different direction, causing the beams to point in a different direction." A new twist was added to the Pune Porsche car accident case after a peon of Sassoon General Hospital was arrested by the police for allegedly acting as a middleman and collecting Rs 300,000 (approx.

A new twist was added to the Pune Porsche car accident case after a peon of Sassoon General Hospital was arrested by the police for allegedly acting as a middleman and collecting Rs 300,000 (approx. $3609) as a bribe for two senior doctors. The peon was supposed to hand over the bribe to the two doctors after they replaced the blood samples of the teen driver with that of another person who did not have any traces of alcohol. The bribe was recovered by the Pune Police’s Crime Branch on Monday (May 27). The two doctors - Dr Ajay Tawade and Dr Hari Harnor of Sasoon Hospital - were also arrested by the Pune Crime Branch on Monday (May 27). After the arrests, a three-member committee was set up by the Maharashtra government to look into the manipulation of blood samples. What did the police find in the investigation? In the investigation, it was found by the police that the accused teen's father and Dr Tawade spoke over the phone on the day of the incident. "The juvenile's father had called the doctor and offered him allurements to replace the blood samples," said the police. Also Read: India's Pune Porsche crash: Two doctors arrested for tampering with blood sample of accused teen Dr Tawade hinted that the blood samples of the minor were replaced with those of a doctor to remove the traces of alcohol. "I will not keep quiet. I will take everyone's name," said Dr Tawade during the investigation, as per media reports. Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar on Monday said that the blood samples which were at the hospital and sent for forensic tests did not belong to the juvenile accused. "Around 11 am on May 19, a blood sample (of the teen) that was taken at Sassoon Hospital was thrown in a dustbin and the blood sample of another person was taken and sent to the forensic lab. During the investigation, we found CMO Srihari Halnor replaced this on the instructions of Ajay Tawade, HOD of the forensic medicine department at Sassoon Hospital," said Kumar, while addressing the media. Since the blood samples of the minor were replaced, the reports which came on Sunday (May 26) did not have any traces of alcohol. However, the report contradicted the CCTV footage which was collected from one of the bars he had visited hours before the crash and in which he was seen drinking with friends. Watch: Gravitas | Pune Porsche crash case: Driver being made scapegoat? In the Pune Porsche car crash case, the juvenile was given bail 15 hours after driving the car at a speed of more than 200km per hour in a drunk state and killing two software engineers on a bike - Ashwini Kostha and Anish Awadhiya - in the early hours of Sunday (May 19). He was granted bail on several conditions which included writing a 300-word essay on road safety and working with the traffic police for 15 days, which led to a public outcry. Now, the bail granted to the teenager has been cancelled by the Justice Juvenile Board in the hit-and-run case and he has been sent to a Rehabilitation/Observation home till June 5. The police have urged the board for permission to try the accused teen -- aged 17 years and eight months -- as an adult. The matter is currently being examined. (With inputs from agencies)
