On Thursday evening, thousands of Napoli supporters took to the streets to celebrate the club's win. After the Napoli team secured the "Scudetto" title with a 1-1 draw away at Udinese in northeast Italy, mass street partying, followed by fireworks, flares, horns and firecrackers, began.

"Even those who don't follow football took to the streets to celebrate. I am not a supporter, but I took to the streets for a sense of belonging to this wonderful city, which has so much to offer," a Naples resident, who gave her name only as Federica, told Reuters.

According to Naples health authorities, at least 203 people accessed emergency services overnight, including 22 with "red-level" critical injuries and 75 with "yellow-level" serious but not life-threatening conditions.

As per Italy's news agency, on Thursday, post-match brawls broke out in Udine as Napoli fans ran onto the stadium pitch to celebrate with players.

The reports further added that the fans then encountered aggressive home supporters armed with belts and batons.

According to RAI public television reports, anti-riot police interceded to break up the fights, and reportedly six fans sustained non-serious injuries.

A Delhi court framed murder charges against Aftab Amin Poonawala on Tuesday in the gruesome killing of a 27-year-old woman, Shraddha Walkar, in the heart of India's capital city Delhi. He has also been accused of causing the disappearance of evidence.

The accused, however, has denied the charges and claimed a trial in the matter.

Additional Sessions Judge Manisha Khurana Kakkar of Saket Courts has framed charges under Sections 302 (Murder) and 201 (Disappearance of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Poonawala.

"Prima facie case of Section 302 is made out and charges will be framed," ASJ Khurana said.

The judge further added that to screen himself from punishment, Poonawala cut Walkar's body and threw it at different places, therefore, committing an offence under Section 201 of IPC.

"Do you plead guilty or claim trial," the court asked to which Poonawala 
said, "I don't plead guilty and will face the trial."

Poonawala pleaded not guilty to Walker's murder and the matter has now been set for trial and has been listed for the recording of prosecution evidence on June 1.

Advocate Akshay Bhandari argued that the accused cannot be charged together for the offence of murder and of the destruction of evidence and that these two charges can be framed in alternate.

The accused can't be charged for both offences together as it would prejudice his right, the counsel argued.

<h2>Shraddha Walkar's audio clip played in court</h2>

In the month of March, more gory details had come to surface in the Shraddha Walkar murder case where special public prosecutor Amit Prasad, appearing on behalf of the state, played an audio clip of hers in a Delhi court that unveiled Walkar's deep-seated fears she had in her relationship with boyfriend, Aftab Poonawala.

Prosecutor Prasad played an audio clip reportedly from an application called Practo. It is an application where people connect with doctors and experts for consultations and seek help.

Walkar, in the audio clip, could be heard saying, "Whenever I start ranting about my anger, if he is somewhere around, anywhere in Vasai (near Mumbai), anywhere around me in this…city, he will find me, he will hunt me down, he will try to kill me, that's… the problem," reported PTI news agency quoting Walkar purportedly as saying in the audio clip.&nbsp;

“I don't know (how) many times he tried to kill me -- this is not the first time he tried to kill me... The way he grabbed my neck, I blacked out. I was unable to breathe for 30 seconds... Thankfully I was able to defend myself by pulling his hair," she added.&nbsp;

The two men were hanged to death in the morning over 'burning the Quran' and 'insulting the Prophet of Islam' at Arak Prison in central Iran.

The judiciary's Mizan Online website reported that Sadrollah Fazeli Zare and Yousef Mehrdad were involved in crimes, including insulting the religion of Islam, the prophet and other sanctities.

The two were running dozens of online anti-religion platforms dedicated to the hatred of Islam, Mizan reported.

One of the accused, in March 2021, had allegedly confessed to publishing content on his social media account, admitting to the insults that were committed, it added.

The two men were detained in 2020 and were condemned for running a Telegram channel called "Criticism of Superstition and Religion", BBC reported, citing Iran's Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA).

Human rights groups condemned Iran for failing to provide fair trials and insulting freedom of expression.

"The execution of Yousef and Sadrollah for 'insulting the Prophet' is not only a cruel act by a medieval regime, but it is also a serious insult to the freedom of expression," said Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, director of Norway-based group Iran Human Rights.

"These executions must be a turning point in the relations between the Islamic Republic and countries respecting the freedom of expression," he added. "Lack of a strong reaction by the international community sends a green light to the Islamic Republic and their ideological allies worldwide."

Meanwhile, United Nations experts have called on majority Shi'ite Muslim Iran to stop persecution and harassment of religious minorities, highlighting an Iranian policy of targeting dissenting beliefs or religious practices, including Christian converts and atheists.&nbsp;

According to rights groups, including Amnesty International, Iran executes more people yearly than any other nation except China.

In 2022, the country executed 75 per cent more people than the previous year, as per two rights groups.

Former finance minister and National Organiser of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), Basil Rajapaksa, left for Dubai early on Monday (May 07) aboard an Emirates flight, as per Ada Derana reports.

He reportedly jetted off for Dubai from the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) and is expected to travel to the United States from Dubai.

The younger brother of ousted president Gotabaya Rajapaksa was as per reports, accompanied by his wife.&nbsp;

According to Ada Derana, a spokesperson from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna said that Rajapaksa is on a brief visit to the US and is scheduled to return to the island shortly.

Earlier this year, Basil Rajapaksa had said that he was ready to give up his US citizenship as he believed it was an 'obstacle' to his political career and depriving him of the opportunity to serve the nation.

“I am ready to give up my US citizenship if dual citizenship was an obstacle to my future political activities. I am also ready to remove any other legal obstacle so that I can work for my people,” he said during a television programme.

Basil said Ranil Wickremesinghe achieved the two key requirements for which he was appointed the Sri Lankan President.

“Due to the ‘Aragalaya,’ we were unable to step outside of our houses and several properties of politicians were attacked and burned down by the public. But Wickremesinghe has changed that situation,” news portal Newswire reported, quoting the former lawmaker and the national organiser of SLPP.

Since he assumed power, Wickremesinghe was also able to resolve the key issues of fuel shortages and frequent power cuts, he said.

“At present, we are not facing any of those social issues. We believe he is an individual who has the capacity to resolve such issues and he has proven so,” the report quoted him as saying.

Last year, after protests by officials and passengers at the Bandaranaike International Airport, Basil was prevented from leaving Sri Lanka.

Then later, in September 2022, Basil was permitted by Sri Lanka's Supreme Court to travel to the United States to receive medical treatment.

Ahead of the 2019 presidential elections, Basil’s elder brother Gotabaya, formerly a dual citizen of both Sri Lanka and the US, had to renounce his US citizenship.

Mahinda Rajapaksa, the 76-year-old patriarch of the Rajapaksa family, has held the position of both president and prime minister during his political career.

He was also compelled to resign in May amid anti-government demonstrations in the country.

"There's a new type of terrorism which is without ammunition, 'The Kerala Story' exposes that poisonous terrorism. We have heard of terrorism that involves guns, weapons, and ammunition. But this is a dangerous kind of terrorism. This kind of terrorism isn't related to any state or religion," he said.

BJP Chief Nadda attends special screening of 'The Kerala Story', says 'film exposes new type of terrorism'

Russian mercenary group Wagner's chief Yevgeny Prigozhin on Saturday asked Moscow to let him hand over the Bakhmut positions to Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov.&nbsp;

"I ask you to issue a combat order before 00:00 on May 10 concerning the transfer of the positions of the Wagner paramilitary units in Bakhmut and its periphery, to the units of the Akhmat battalion," Yevgeny Prigozhin said in a letter to Russia's Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu.

The Akhmat battalion refers to the Chechen combat units under the command of Kadyrov, who has ruled Russia's Muslim-majority republic Chechnya for the last decade and a half.

Prigozhin said that his fighters would be compelled to withdraw because of a long "ammunition famine".

He condemned the Russian defence ministry for delivering only 32 per cent of the required ammunition since October 2022.&nbsp;

<h2>Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov to send forces replacing Wagner in Bakhmut</h2>

Chechen leader and a staunch ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ramzan Kadyrov, said his forces are ready to replace Wagner Group mercenaries in Bakhmut.&nbsp;

This comes after Wagner Group announced the withdrawal of forces from the Bakhmut region with its leader Prigozhin citing lack of ammunition as the reason.&nbsp;

Kadyrov, reacting to Wagner's comments on leaving Bakhmut and giving the command to Russian Defence Ministry’s forces, said, "If the elder brother Prigozhin and Wagner fighters leave, the General Staff will lose an experienced combat unit, but the younger brother Kadyrov and the Akhmat unit will replace them in Artyomovsk."

"If such a scenario is implemented, our fighters are ready to advance and take the city. However, we would like the last remaining two kilometres to be taken not at the expense of the lives of our warriors but as a result of mutual understanding, support and the determination of commanders and soldiers," Kadyrov noted.

"The interests of the state and the country’s security should come first. Once the special military operation is over, I would like all of us to emerge victorious and all the soldiers, commanders and Russian patriots to stand together," Kadyrov added.

<h2>Russia's Wagner threatens to leave Bakhmut</h2>

Wagner Group chief on Friday announced that on May 10 it will pull out from the Bakhmut region where the battle to overrun Ukrainian resistance is continuing with sharp intensity for nearly two months.&nbsp;

Wagner Group boss Yevgeny Prigozhin said that his men were facing a lack of ammunition and that he would expect the army to take their place in Bakhmut next Wednesday.

"My lads will not suffer useless and unjustified losses in Bakhmut without ammunition," Prigozhin said in a video accompanying a written withdrawal announcement addressed to military leaders including President Vladimir Putin.

In the announcement, he condemned 'bureaucrats' for holding back the ammunition supplies despite knowing that Wagner's target date to capture the city was May 9, which is also the day of the World War II commemoration.

"If, because of your petty jealousy, you do not want to give the Russian people the victory of taking Bakhmut, that's your problem," Prigozhin added in the video.

As per RIA news agency reports, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu had instructed one of his deputy ministers to ensure troops had all the weapons they needed.&nbsp;

Together with friends from across the Commonwealth and beyond, we will celebrate the enduring nature of our great monarchy: its constancy, devotion to duty, and service to others. No other country could put on such a dazzling display - the processions, the pageantry, the ceremonies, and street parties," he said.

He highlighted that the coronation ceremony, which is the first in seven decades, is not only just a sumptuous display of pageantry, but also a proud expression of history, culture, and traditions.&nbsp;

UK PM Rishi Sunak reads from biblical book at King Charles' multi-faith coronation

Ahead of King Charles' coronation&nbsp;on Saturday,&nbsp;the UK police arrested the head of the anti-monarchist campaign group Republic and other members who were leading a protest at Trafalgar Square.

The protestors wore "Not My King" t-shirts and planned a demonstration along the route of a procession for the coronation.

As per reports, six demonstrators were arrested including Republic group's chief executive Graham Smith.&nbsp;

"They've arrested six of our organisers and seized hundreds of placards, they won't tell us why they've arrested them or where they're being held," a Republic activist told AFP.

Some bystanders shouted "free Graham Smith" but others enchanted slogans "God save the king" and waved UK flags.

Taking to its official Twitter account, the group posted some pictures of police officers taking details from them and also confirmed the arrests and seizure of placards saying, "Is this democracy?"

It captioned the Tweet as "so much for the right to peaceful protest," along with hashtags #NotMyKing #AbolishTheMonarchy.&nbsp;

London police chief Mark Rowley, on Friday, had warned of a "very low tolerance for disruption" and that police would take action if protesters tried to "obstruct the enjoyment and celebration&nbsp;of people".

The anti-monarch group Republic wants an elected head of state and had earlier promised to protest during Charles and Camilla's procession between Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace.

Human Rights Watch slammed the arrest of protesters by UK police on Saturday and called it "incredibly alarming".&nbsp;

"This is something you would expect to see in Moscow, not London," the campaign group said, attacking the UK government for its "increasingly averse" stance on public demonstrations.

<h2>Charles III to be crowned king in first coronation since 1953</h2>

UK's first coronation in 70 years takes place on Saturday with Charles III being crowned as the king in a solemn Christian ceremony steeped in 1,000 years of history and tradition, but adapted to reflect 21st-century Britain.

"Nothing will happen just because the film is screened. The teaser of the film was released in November. What was offensive in the film? What is wrong in saying that Allah is the only God? The country gives the citizen the right to believe in their religion and God and spread it. What was offensive in the trailer?", the court observed while considering a batch of petitions seeking to cancel the censor certificate of the film.

"So many movies have already come out about such organizations. There have been references against Hindu monks and Christian priests in many films before. Did you see all this in the way of fiction? What is so special now? How does this movie create sectarianism and conflict in society?", the court observed.

The film's trailer claims young girls from non-Muslim communities disappeared from Kerala and joined terror groups such as Islamic State.

Indian Prime Minister Modi backs ‘The Kerala Story’, slams Congress for nurturing terror elements

In a shocking incident, a 30-year-old homeless man, Jordan Neely, who was screaming on a subway train, died on Monday afternoon when a fellow passenger grabbed him and placed him in a chokehold.

On Wednesday evening, his death was ruled a homicide, the city's medical examiner confirmed.

Neely, with a history of mental health issues, started ranting in an aggressive manner on board.&nbsp;

A freelance journalist Juan Alberto Vazquez was at the scene and in a conversation with New York Post, shared the details of the incident.&nbsp;

Vazquez said, “He starts to make a speech. He started screaming in an aggressive manner.”

“He said he had no food, he had no drink, that he was tired and doesn’t care if he goes to jail. He started screaming all these things, took off his jacket, a black jacket that he had, and threw it on the ground," he added.&nbsp;

Triggered by the ranting, a passenger pushed Neely onto the ground and held him in a deadly chokehold for about 15 minutes.&nbsp;

According to Julie Bolcer, a spokesperson for the medical examiner, Neely died from compression to his neck as a result of the chokehold.

The killing has led to investigations by both the police and prosecutors, according to a spokesperson for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. As of Wednesday afternoon, nobody had been arrested.

“As part of our rigorous ongoing investigation, we will review the Medical Examiner’s report, assess all available video and photo footage, identify and interview as many witnesses as possible, and obtain additional medical records,” the district attorney’s spokesperson said in a statement as per The New York Times report.

“This investigation is being handled by senior, experienced prosecutors and we will provide an update when there is additional public information to share,” he added.

Journalist Vazquez recorded the incident in a three-and-half-minute-long video.

The video showed some fellow riders helping&nbsp;pin down Neely while others kept watching.

“He moved his arms but he couldn’t express anything,” Vazquez said of Neely. “All he could do was move (his) arms."&nbsp;

“Then suddenly he just stopped moving,” Vazquez recalled. “He was out of strength.”

“None of us who were there thought he was in danger of dying,” Vazquez said. “We thought he just passed out or ran out of air. I think that in one sense it’s fine that citizens want to jump in and help. But I think as heroes we have to use moderation,” he said.

“This would never have happened if the police had shown up within five minutes,” he added. “Then we’d be talking about a true hero. It’s complicated.”

<h2>Who was Neely?</h2>

Neely, whom people knew as a Michael Jackson impersonator, used to live on the streets and had a history of mental health issues. He used to perform on the subway in exchange for money.

His father, Andre Zachery, said that he was only four years old when he introduced him to Jackson's music. As he grew older, he began impersonating the King of Pop.

“He looked just like him,” recalled Zachery. “He used to perform on the block. One day, people were loving him. Michael!”

“Jordan was a good man,” his grieving father told The Daily News. “He was a good person. He grew up good. He always had a (temper), but he never used to hurt anyone ... He wasn’t bad. He was beautiful.”

He said that his son was autistic and that the murder of his mother in the year 2007 in New Jersey affected him deeply.

“He didn’t care anymore after that,” he said while talking to The Daily News. “Once his mother died ... They were very close. He loved her so much that he just lost it. After we buried her, he just wasn’t the same anymore,” he revealed.

People worldwide took to Twitter to express dismay over the unfortunate incident and called out the unnecessary violence.

The violence broke out on Wednesday (May 3) during the ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ by the Tribal Student Union Manipur (ATSUM) in the Torbung area of Churachandpur district to protest the demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status for non-tribal Meities.&nbsp;

As per a senior police official, thousands took to the streets and participated in the rally after which clashes turned violent between tribal and non-tribal residents.

<h2>Internet services suspended in Manipur</h2>

As the violence grew to more regions in the state, internet services were suspended to curb the spread of hate speech and video messages by the anti-social elements.

The Manipur government issued a statement saying that the internet services in the Indian state have been suspended for five days "amid the incidents of fighting among youths, and volunteers of different communities as a rally was organised by All Tribals Students Union (ATSU) Manipur in protest against the demand for inclusion of Meitei/Meetei in the ST category."

"Some anti-social elements are using social media extensively for the transmission of images, hate speech and hate video messages inciting the passions of the public. Social media has also become a handy tool for rumour mongers and is being used to incite the general public which might have serious repercussions for the law and order situation in the State of Manipur," the statement read.

<h2>Administration imposes curfew</h2>

In view of the situation, a curfew has been imposed in non-tribal-dominated Imphal West, Kakching, Thoubal, Jiribam, and Bishnupur districts, and tribal-dominated Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, and Tengnoupal districts.

"A report has been received from the Superintendent of Police, Churachandpur that there is a breach of peace, disturbance to public tranquility and grave danger to human lives and properties within the revenue jurisdiction of Churachandpur district. It is desirable that any breach of peace and disturbance to public tranquillity and danger to human lives and properties should be immediately prevented," read the statement by the district administration of Churachandpur.

"It is considered that movement of any person outside their residence is considered likely to cause a breach of peace, disturbance to public tranquillity and grave danger to human lives and properties," the statement further added.

<h2>Govt issues shoot-at-sight order</h2>

On the evening of April 4, the government of Manipur issued shoot-at-sight orders to "maintain public order and tranquillity."

The order, passed by the Governor of Manipur, said, "The Governor of Manipur is pleased to authorize all District Magistrates, Sub-Divisional Magistrates and all Executive Magistrates/ Special executive Magistrates detailed by the District Magistrates to issue Shoot at sight orders in extreme cases whereby all forms of persuasion, warning, reasonable force, etc. had been exhausted under the provisions of law under CrPC, 1973."
