<p>Former Disney star Orlando Brown, who was arrested on Thursday in Ohio, has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanour assault charges stemming from an alleged altercation with his brother Matthew in Lima, Ohio.</p>

<p>According to Allen County Sheriff’s Office records, the 35-year-old rapper and actor was taken into custody on Thursday and held on a $25,000 bond. He was arraigned on Friday in Lima Municipal Court and charged with aggravated menacing.</p>

<p>As per a report by TMZ, a spokesperson for the Lima Police Department revealed that Brown's brother Matthew had accused him of acting "crazy" inside his house, accusing him of raping his wife and then coming at him with a broken knife blade and a hammer in a threatening manner.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Brown was never able to physically strike his brother with the weapons, and he eventually put them down.</p>

<p>Cops reached the spot as the&nbsp;fight was in progress. As they witnessed the verbal argument, they feared that it could turn violent so they arrested Brown and pressed charges against him.</p>

<p>It is, however, unclear&nbsp;who called 911.</p>

<p>According to Matthew, Brown has been staying with him at his home as he was homeless and had no place to go.&nbsp;The actor has apparently been in the Ohio town for over a month and several&nbsp;fans have tweeted about seeing him around Lima.</p>

<p>Brown, who shot to fame with the Disney Channel series 'That's So Raven', has had numerous legal and&nbsp;personal troubles in the past. He previously faced charges of domestic battery, resisting arrest and drug possession.</p>

<p>He has been in and out of medical and rehabilitation facilities. In 2018, he reached out for help to Dr Phil McGraw, who invited&nbsp;him to his show and discussed his struggles.</p>

<p>A new study has revealed that making a conscious effort to recognize positive life events and successes while meeting for food and drink can leave you feeling more socially accepted. The research, published online in the Journal of Public Policy &amp; Marketing, finds that celebrations with three conditions — social gathering, eating or drinking, and intentionally marking a positive life event — will increase perceived social support.</p>

<p>Perceived social support, according to previous research, is the belief you have a social network that will be there for you in case of future, negative life events. That belief is associated with health and well-being outcomes, including increased lifespan and decreased anxiety and depression.</p>

<p>“Many celebrations this time of year include two of the three conditions – eating and drinking while gathering together,” said Kelley Gullo Wight, assistant professor at the Indiana University Kelley School of Business and co-author of the study.</p>

<p>“Adding the third condition, making an intentional effort to recognize others’ positive achievements, is key. For example, take the time to congratulate someone for getting accepted to their first-choice university, or a work project that went well, or a new job offer. This will maximize the benefits to your well-being and the well-being of all the attendees at that holiday party,” she added.</p>

<p>Wight and her co-authors, including professors Danielle Brick of the University of Connecticut, and James Bettman, Tanya Chartrand, and Gavan Fitzsimons of Duke University, used behavioural experiments to survey thousands of participants over several years.</p>

<p>The research revealed that even if gatherings are virtual, if everyone has food and drink (no matter if it’s healthy or indulgent) and they’re celebrating positive events, this also increases a person’s perceived social support, and they can receive the same well-being benefits from it.</p>

<p>It also has implications for marketing managers or anyone looking to raise funds for a good cause.</p>

<p>“We found that when people feel supported socially after a celebration, they’re more ‘pro-social,’ and more willing to volunteer their time or donate to a cause,” said Danielle Brick, assistant professor of marketing at the University of Connecticut and co-author on the study, adding, “This would be a good time for non-profits to market donation campaigns, around the time many people are celebrating positive life events, like holidays or graduations.”</p>

<p>Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's wife Gauri Khan, who is also a film producer and an interior designer, recently took to social media to give a glimpse of director-producer Karan Johar's Mumbai house, which she herself redesigned ahead of the holiday season. To give a glimpse of the interior, she shared a clip on her official Instagram handle, which viral in no time.</p>

<p>As the video starts, Karan says, "Welcome to my home Gauri, all because of you. Love it, love. Can't wait to move in."&nbsp;Then we see a few pictures of KJo and Gauri flaunting the stunning furniture.</p>

<p>In the video, you can see different styles of couches, centre tables and lamps. The house also has a wall with the word 'Johar' written on it. A narrow cabinet decorated with plants and lamps can&nbsp;also be seen in the video.&nbsp;</p>

Zachary Levi debunks ‘Shazam!’ recasting rumours, here’s what he revealed!

<p>A California prosecutor told jurors Wednesday that hip hop star Megan Thee Stallion would never have subjected herself to the torrent of public abuse she’s received if she wasn’t telling the truth about rapper Tory Lanez shooting her in the feet and wounding her in the summer of 2020.</p>

<p>Deputy District Attorney Alexander Bott said the jury should believe Megan’s anguish — evident in her testimony last week — and her courage in fighting through it. Jurors should also provide Megan with justice by convicting Lanez, he said, citing the scorn she received online and in parts of the hip-hop community.</p>

<p>“Why would she lie?” the Los Angeles County DA said. “She’s been subjected to a stream of hate. For what? For coming forward as a victim of domestic violence?”</p>

<p>In his own closing, Lanez’s defence attorney George Mgdesyan gave jurors what he called a perfectly good reason for Megan to lie: Being victimized by Lanez was a better public story than the embarrassing, potentially career-damaging truth that she was shot by her best friend — not Lanez —in a jealous dispute over him.</p>

<p>“Megan Pete is a liar. She lied about everything in this case from the beginning,” Mgdesyan said. “She lied under oath here.”</p>

<p>He said that Lanez actually struggled with Megan’s former friend Kelsey Harris to stop her from shooting and that a pause heard on an audio recording amid the five shots fired on the night of July 12, 2020, was evidence of that.</p>

<p>“He was trying to protect her,” Mgdesyan said.</p>

<p>Mgdesyan mocked Megan’s experience in the years that followed. “It’s been so bad for her,” he said. “She’s won Grammys. She’s had number ones on the Billboard charts.</p>

<p>“You know who it’s been bad for? That man right there,” Mgdesyan said, pointing at Lanez. “He hasn’t been able to work. He’s had to go through this with his family for 2 1/2 years.”</p>

<p>The Canadian rapper Lanez, 30, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, has pleaded not guilty to discharging a firearm with gross negligence, assault with a semiautomatic firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. The counts could lead to up to 22 years in prison and deportation.</p>

<p>Bott said Megan’s testimony was in itself sufficient to convict, but it’s supported by layers of other evidence, including the accounts of other eyewitnesses and apologies from Lanez.</p>

<p>Megan testified that she left a gathering at the Hollywood Hills home of Kylie Jenner in an SUV with Lanez, his bodyguard and Harris. Megan and Harris have since become estranged.</p>

<p>She said a dispute broke out that led to her insulting Lanez’s music, which made him especially angry. She testified that as she began walking away from the SUV, he fired at her feet and yelled, “dance, b----!”</p>

<p>Megan had to have surgery to remove bullet fragments.</p>

<p>When Harris took the stand, she said she didn’t remember seeing Lanez shooting the gun, and that she only assumed he did when she sent a text minutes later saying “Tory shot Megan” to a man who worked as security for Megan. She denied shooting the gun herself.</p>

<p>But prosecutors were then allowed to play an interview Harris did with them in September, in which she clearly identified Lanez as the shooter.</p>

<p>In an email to The Associated Press, Harris’ attorney, Daniel Nardoni would not comment on her role, saying he urged her to invoke her 5th Amendment rights on the stand, despite partial immunity provided by prosecutors.</p>

<p>Mgdesyan asked jurors to weigh the likelihood of violence stemming from insulting someone’s music or a dispute between two women over a man.</p>

<p>“What’s more likely to lead to a shooting?” he said.</p>

<p>He told jurors it was clear Megan was lying because she denied being in a dispute of any significance with Harris, despite a defence witness who saw the stopped SUV from his nearby balcony and said he saw the two women in the car violently fighting. The witness, Sean Kelly, also testified that he saw muzzle flashes come from a woman as the shots were fired.</p>

<p>But prosecutors also used the testimony of the man, who said he saw a small man “firing everywhere.”</p>

<p>Mgdesyan said Megan had changed over time to say she walked toward the front of the SUV rather than the back, so that it would match her description of Lanez firing at her from over the open car door. He said she invented the “dance, b----!” line, which no one else testified to hearing, to explain why she was looking over her shoulder to see he was doing the shooting.</p>

<p>The lawyer used the image to joke about his client’s size.</p>

<p>“He’s 5-foot-2, I don’t know if he can even get over a car to shoot!” Mgdesyan said, bringing a laugh from Lanez, who watched from the defence table in a blue suit and black turtleneck.</p>

<p>Mgdesyan told the judge earlier in the day that Lanez would not testify. The defence was set to finish its closings on Thursday, with the jury getting the case after the prosecution’s rebuttal.</p>

<p>Bott ended his presentation Wednesday with a quote from Megan’s testimony, in which she said there have been times that “I wish he would have just shot and killed me.”</p>

<p>“Megan does matter,” Bott said. “This case matters. Hold him accountable for shooting Megan over nothing more than a bruised ego.”</p>

Justin Bieber set to crack $200 million deal to sell music rights: Report

<p>To react to Harvey Weinstein’s conviction of rape and sexual assault by an LA jury on Monday, several accusers, celebrities and activists came forward and shared social media posts on Tuesday and Wednesday. The trial went on for a month and the deliberations were held for about nine days. And, in the end, the 12-member jury found Weinstein guilty of three counts,&nbsp;forcible rape, forcible oral copulation and penetration by a foreign object, against Jane Doe 1.</p>

<p>However, the jury acquitted Weinstein of another sexual assault charge related to a different Jane Doe accuser as they couldn’t reach an agreement on three other counts.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This is Weinstein's second conviction since #MeToo movement spread like wildfire in the United States. He is already serving a 23-year prison sentence after being convicted of sex crimes by a New York City court in 2020.</p>

<p>Jennifer Siebel Newsom, who&nbsp;testified against Weinstein and disclosed that she was harassed by the producer,&nbsp;shared a statement on Twitter in response to the verdict. The tweet read, "Harvey Weinstein will never be able to rape another woman. He will spend the rest of his life behind bars where he belongs. Harvey Weinstein is a serial predator and what he did was rape."</p>

<p>"Throughout the trial, Weinstein’s lawyers used sexism, misogyny, and bullying tactics to intimate, demean and ridicule us survivors,"&nbsp;Jennifer added. "This trail was a stark reminder that we as a society have work to do. To all survivors out there — I see you, I hear you, and I stand with you."</p>

<p>Lauren O’Connor, who penned the leaked 2015 memo addressed to her colleagues that brought Weinstein’s toxic behaviour to light and eventually helped take him down, spoke to The Hollywood Reporter.</p>

<p>She said, “The women who came forward and took the stand are immeasurably brave, and while it is disappointing he was not convicted on all counts, I am grateful for the verdict — he cannot hurt people anymore.”</p>

<p>“But I think it is important to remember, the larger issues around understanding rape and consent are not solved because one bad man went to jail. There is still work to be done, and yesterday’s verdict demonstrates that,” Lauren added.&nbsp;</p>

She said, "I’m thankful that it’s not a complete acquittal across the board. Our worst nightmare was that he would get acquitted in L.A. and use that to support his appeal in N.Y."</p>

<p>Chiu further shared, “I see desperate failings in the legal system,” before adding, “I feel that it’s very personal. My reaction was almost a visceral anger at how much these women had been put through to take the stand. The fact that the legal system puts such a burden on the witness, challenges the survivor’s credibility. It is a horrifying and brutal process. What sort of signal does that give women of the #MeToo movement who are really struggling? A staggering percentage of rape victims know they’re not going to be believed.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>Other high-profile accusers, actresses and activists, including Mira Sorvino, Amber Tamblyn and the organization Women in Film, also shared reactions on social media. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Mira Sorvino, who claims she was harassed and blacklisted by Weinstein, tweeted, “Harvey Weinstein, rapist. Guilty. Again. I only regret that Jane Doe #2 &amp; Jennifer Siebel Newsom &amp; [Jane Doe] were denied justice.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>Elizabeth was among several other&nbsp;passengers who found themselves stranded at airports due to some technical error that triggered the mass flight delays in British Airways, across the United States and the Caribbean, on Monday.</p>

<p>The problem got resolved by Tuesday. And, after the resolution, the airline tweeted, "Our teams have now resolved a temporary issue that affected some of our long-haul flight planning systems overnight, which resulted in delays to our schedule."</p>
