<p>Terrorists opened fire at two migrant labourers in Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday (Feb&nbsp;7), killing one and critically injuring the other. The deceased has been identified as Amrit Pal Singh who hailed from Amritsar in the state of Punjab. The shooting took place in Srinagar's Shaheed Gunj area. The other migrant labourer, who was grievously injured was taken to nearby hospital.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Terrorists fired upon a non-local identified as Amritpal Singh, a resident of Amritsar, at Shaheed Gunj Srinagar, who succumbed to the injuries. One more person is grievously injured and evacuated for medical attention. Area has been cordoned off. Further details shall follow,” said Jammu and Kashmir Police&nbsp;</p>

<p>Police officials and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel rushed to the location after receiving information. A search and cordon operation was launched in the area. A large-scale search operation has been launched to nab the terrorists. More security personnel have been deployed in the area and barricades have been erected.</p>

<p>There have been attacks on migrants workers before. In October last year, a migrant worker was shot dead in Kupwara district in southern Kashmir. The migrant worker, who hailed from north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh was shot dead in Nowpora village in the district.</p>

<p>The security and intelligence apparatus in Jammu and Kashmir has been vigilant to tackle the menace of terrorism and has also been co-ordinating with police in other Indian states to arrest terrorists.</p>

<p>On Tuesday, Delhi Police announced arrest of a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist on New Delhi railway station. Delhi Police had been tipped off about the terrorist's arrival by intelligence agencies in Jammu and Kashmir. The terrorist was arrested on February 4.</p>

<p>The terrorists had fled Jammu and Kashmir after security apparatus in the union&nbsp;territory busted a terror module in Kupwara in last week of January.</p>

<p>"The accused was involved in hatching a conspiracy along with Khursheed Ahmad Rather and Ghulam Sarwar Rather in receiving arms and ammunition from across the LoC by the terrorist handlers," said KPS Malhotra, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Railways, as quoted by ANI.</p>

<p>"The alert staff acted promptly, identified the alleged Riyaz Ahmad in the crowd and apprehended him while he was trying to flee from Exit Gate No. 1 of New Delhi Railway Station in the early hours," said the DCP as quoted by ANI.</p>

<p>According to officials, "The all-time lowest minimum temperature for Pahalgam during February was minus 17.2°C in February 1984."</p>

We are extremely proud of the fact that we are the first female group deputed to protect the borders. We received special training and were provided with the best equipment and gear. We have special snow shoes, jackets to protect us from the cold at&nbsp;high altitude. We also trained with doctors who guided us about living in such extreme weather. We were given special arms training as well. We specially trained in patrolling, ambush as well as night patrolling," said Mangal Dongre, a soldier.</p>

<p>"Women are equal to men. They have excelled in every sphere and career. They work shoulder-to-shoulder with us and we are proud. It also makes things easier for us as we faced problems in the bordering areas where our naka points had no women to check the women OGWs. It becomes easier and will help in stopping the issue of carrying narcotics and arms and ammunition by women. Female soldiers are given exactly the same training as men and they have been provided with same equipment, gear and training as ours. They can easily guard the borders as they have the latest arms and equipment. They are doing a great job with us," said Naresh Kumar, BSF Officer.&nbsp;</p>

The Government of India in 2020, passed the Jammu and Kashmir Official Languages Bill, which included Kashmiri in the list of official languages of the Union Territory (UT).</p>

<p>"The regional language is specific to the Kashmir Valley and now Google has accepted the language and registered it. The whole world is digital and, in these conditions, if the language is included in Google, it would be spread across the world. Every person sitting anywhere in the world would be able to access it. It would help people from across the world to translate the language into any other language. I want to congratulate the people who have worked for this inclusion. It's a great step for the language," said Rashid Rahil, a journalist.</p>
