&ldquo;In theory, you could bat Alex Carey at six, have Beau Webster at seven, that could be an option as well.
&ldquo;(Webster) is a batting all-rounder, but he will bowl more overs, plus he can bowl off-spin and seam. That will be a discussion point depending on what happens in the next two days here, the fitness of Mitchell Starc for example,&rdquo; Waugh continued.

BGT, MCG Test: Aussie tail frustrates India after Bumrah’s heroic spell on day 4

Nitish Kumar Reddy broke the internet with his maiden Test hundred at the MCG against Australia. His 105* (at stumps on day three) in the Boxing Day Test made headlines worldwide, with the rookie all-rounder realising his dream in front of his family sitting in the stands. His father, Mutyala Reddy, was in tears watching his son hammer the best bowling quartet, saving India&rsquo;s grace.
However, the best moment came when his father met Sunil Gavaskar on the sidelines.
Emotional over his son&rsquo;s achievement, which even made the man the series is named after (Border-Gavaskar Trophy) super proud, Reddy&rsquo;s father touched Sunil Gavaskar's feet in the most heartwarming moment of the day.
In a video doing rounds on the internet, Reddy&rsquo;s family met Gavaskar, with his father and sister touching Gavaskar&rsquo;s feet while his mother greeted the Indian legend from a distance. Gavaskar reciprocated with similar generosity.

Though the 34-year-old appeared to have pulled up sometime during the first two sessions, having played four Tests on the trot now, his teammate and fellow pacer Scott Boland expects &lsquo;tough guy&rsquo; Starc to remain fit for the MCG cracker.

"He's okay. I think he's just had a bit of a niggle in his back or rib, but he came out after the (tea) break and was bowling 140 (kmph), so I think he'll be fine," Boland said to the ABC reporters after the third day&rsquo;s play. "Playing a Test match is pretty hard on your body, and he's played all four Tests so far. I think he's just a little bit stiff in his back."
<h2>Been there, done that</h2>
Two years ago, against South Africa during the Boxing Day Test, Starc bowled with a broken thumb and won the game for his country, gaining a reputation of a tough guy. Speaking on the same lines, Boland said he is confident that Starc would be returning to his best for India&rsquo;s second innings and pushing the host for a plausible win.
"I think he's underrated for how tough he is," Boland said. "A couple of years ago here at the MCG he had a broken finger and we were planning for him not to bowl at all &ndash; and then he came out and bowled 140k swingers.
"He's someone who can play through a lot of pain. You can tell he's played (93) Test matches now. As a fast bowler, there's not many Tests you play without any niggle at all. He's someone who can still bowl the same pace even when he is really sore &ndash; which is a great trait to have,&rdquo; he continued.
Meanwhile, should Starc fail to recover from a potential niggle for the remainder of the series, Australia would be without two of their premier seamers &ndash; Starc and Josh Hazlewood, who is out for side strain, mounting pressure on the hosts.&nbsp;
Though they have Jhye Richardson and Seam Abbott as reserves, with Brendan Doggett also shadowing the Aussie team for the first three Tests, Australia will have to take a call to decide who replaces Starc in the XI. BGT: ‘Could have dismissed him 6-7 times…,’ Bumrah on Konstas' attack

Nitish Kumar Reddy is the new hero of Indian cricket. The rookie all-rounder smashed his maiden international hundred on day three of the ongoing Boxing Day Test against Australia at the MCG, pulling India out of trouble after early blows. Reddy&rsquo;s maiden ton saw the fans, dressing room, broadcasters and social media bursting into joy, celebrating his success.
Reddy comes across as a typical old-school player with a temperament worth a glance. Outside of his stance and steady and calm head that helped him taste early success in only his fourth Test Down Under, Reddy&rsquo;s composure drives his game despite coming in lower down the order.
On day three, Reddy walked in at 191 for six, at a time when India&rsquo;s aim was to avoid the follow-on.
He took hold of the situation and, alongside Washington Sundar, kept the run rate ticking. The pair made most of the batting conditions at the MCG, scoring runs off the bad balls and leaving the good ones, impressing the former players sitting in the commentary box.

Both hit respective fifties, with Reddy going one step further to complete his maiden Test hundred, but that didn&rsquo;t come smoothly.&nbsp;
Batting in the 90s, Reddy lost Sundar (50) and Jasprit Bumrah (0) at the other end, besides needing Mohammed Siraj to play just three balls to avoid missing out on a milestone, which he did.
Facing Boland, Reddy took three balls before whacking one over the mid-on to cross the three-digit mark, much to everyone&rsquo;s ecstasy.

Instead of trusting his partner&rsquo;s call and going for the single, Kohli, upon looking back, realised Jaiswal had taken a risk by going for it; Kohli held his ground, leaving Jaiswal nowhere to go after he almost reached the non-striker&rsquo;s end.&nbsp;

That led to a massive mix-up with Pat Cummins and Alex Carey accounting for Jaiswal's run-out, which later triggered a mini-collapse.
<h3>Blame game continues</h3>
Stunned by Kohli&rsquo;s decision not to complete the run, the commentators, mainly Sanjay Manjrekar, came down hard on the Indian veteran for his mistake before he got into a heated argument with his fellow broadcaster and ex-India star Irfan Pathan in the Star Sports&rsquo; post-match show.
While Manjrekar stuck to his point of Kohli being the culprit in this situation, Pathan jumped onto defending the former India captain, saying Kohli was at risk of getting run out at the striker&rsquo;s end, leaving Manjrekar furious over the whole argument.
"Ball was going slow, I don't think Kohli would've been run out. It was Jaiswal's call. Maybe a risky run, but he was at the danger end, not Kohli. It was a schoolboy error from Virat that he looked back and decided it wasn't a run. If it was a bad call from Jaiswal, he would've gotten out at the non-striker's end," Manjrekar said on the Star Sports show.
After Pathan defended his point on how Jaiswal was wrong in calling it in the first go, Sanjay said, "If you don't want to let me talk, it's alright".
Manjrekar further lost his cool after Pathan continued to press his opinion, replying, "Irfan Pathan's new interpretation of whether it is a run or not, should be added to the coaching manual."
The former Mumbai batter didn&rsquo;t stop there, continuing to talk about how the &lsquo;guilt&rsquo; of Jaiswal&rsquo;s run out led to Kohli&rsquo;s dismissal.
"Kohli's dismissal probably also down to the guilt he had inside his heart over Jaiswal's run-out. He was leaving outside-off deliveries until then but lost his concentration after the run-out incident," he noted.
Meanwhile, in reply to Australia&rsquo;s 474 in the first innings, India scored 164 for five at stumps on day two, trailing behind by 310 runs.&nbsp;

Blame game continues Stunned by Kohli’s decision not to complete the run, the commentators, mainly Sanjay Manjrekar, came down hard on the Indian veteran for his mistake before he got into a heated argument with his fellow broadcaster and ex-India star Irfan Pathan in the Star Sports’ post-match show. While Manjrekar stuck to his point of Kohli being the culprit in this situation, Pathan jumped onto defending the former India captain, saying Kohli was at risk of getting run out at the striker’s end, leaving Manjrekar furious over the whole argument. "Ball was going slow, I don't think Kohli would've been run out. It was Jaiswal's call. Maybe a risky run, but he was at the danger end, not Kohli. It was a schoolboy error from Virat that he looked back and decided it wasn't a run. If it was a bad call from Jaiswal, he would've gotten out at the non-striker's end," Manjrekar said on the Star Sports show. After Pathan defended his point on how Jaiswal was wrong in calling it in the first go, Sanjay said, "If you don't want to let me talk, it's alright". Manjrekar further lost his cool after Pathan continued to press his opinion, replying, "Irfan Pathan's new interpretation of whether it is a run or not, should be added to the coaching manual." The former Mumbai batter didn’t stop there, continuing to talk about how the ‘guilt’ of Jaiswal’s run out led to Kohli’s dismissal. "Kohli's dismissal probably also down to the guilt he had inside his heart over Jaiswal's run-out. He was leaving outside-off deliveries until then but lost his concentration after the run-out incident," he noted. Meanwhile, in reply to Australia’s 474 in the first innings, India scored 164 for five at stumps on day two, trailing behind by 310 runs. (With inputs from agencies)
