Recently, England's Matt Walls suffered a horrific crash and got stitches&nbsp;on his forehead, scrapes, and bruises but escaped major injuries during the men's&nbsp;15km scratch cycling&nbsp;race at the Lee Valley VeloPark in London. Now, India's cyclist Meenakshi was at the receiving end of an awful crash&nbsp;during the women’s 10km scratch race, at the same venue,&nbsp;in&nbsp;Birmingham 2022. The Indian athlete fell from her bike before sliding down the banking on the bend. Adding to her woes, she was run over by a New Zealand&nbsp;rival --&nbsp;Bryony Botha -- who also fell off her bike and injured herself. As a result, both the cyclists were taken out of the race, however,&nbsp;Meenakshi was taken off on a stretcher.

She has pleaded guilty to the drugs charges against her but has denied that she intended to break Russian law. She faces up to 10 years in prison.

Lawyer Maria Blagovolina, partner at Rybalkin, Gortsunyan, Dyakin and Partners law firm, said a verdict in the case was expected "very soon." The defence and prosecution are expected to deliver their closing arguments on Thursday. The case against Griner has highlighted Russia`s fraught relations with the United States, which have plunged to a new post-Cold War low over Moscow`s actions in Ukraine.

Blagovolina said Griner heard that Washington had made what Secretary of State Antony Blinken called a "substantial offer" to Moscow to release American citizens held in Russia. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, who had expressed surprise at the public nature of Blinken`s comments at the time, said on Tuesday that any talk of a possible swap needed to be discreet.

A source said that Washington was willing to exchange convicted arms trafficker Viktor Bout, known as the "Merchant of Death". Blagovolina said a swap was "legally possible" after the verdict, which is expected no later than mid-August.

It followed reports of drunken males harassing female fans, homophobic chants and racist abuse at the Austrian Grand Prix earlier this month, Red Bull’s home race which was packed with Verstappen supporters. 
The next race in Belgium, where Verstappen was born, is another Orange Army stronghold with the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, the 24-year-old’s home race, following the week after.

The incidents in Austria prompted Formula One to launch its ‘Drive it Out’ anti-abuse initiative on Saturday. 
Verstappen, sitting alongside second-placed Hamilton in the post-race press conference, said the majority of his fans were generally respectful. “Overall I think the majority of the fans… which also were cheering a lot throughout the race and also on the podium for every driver, I think that’s how it should be," he said. 
"The video of burning merch, I think that’s disgusting," he said.
