Senior doctors are still working but local media has reported they will stage a rally this weekend. Some 25,000 people are expected to join, local reports say.

South Korean media reported on Thursday (Feb 29) that a woman suffered a miscarriage after being turned away from hospitals, over a birth canal issue, because no doctors were available.

The government is also investigating a case where an elderly woman died of a heart attack in an ambulance after struggling to find a hospital.

What is the public saying?

Polling shows up to 75 per cent of the public support the reforms and President Yoon Suk Yeol, who has taken a hard line on the striking doctors, has seen his approval ratings tick up.

The Korea Severe Disease Association, a patients' group, condemned both the government and the KMA over the strikes.

Lee Hye-min, a 19-year-old university student, told AFP that her mother needed regular medical treatment.

"My mother has kidney problems and I remember her feeling very anxious as she went to the hospital. She was worried her doctors would go on strike, too," Lee said.&nbsp;

"I think (the strike) is too extreme. There are patients still in hospital waiting for surgery who have been completely disregarded for the personal interests of doctors."

However, Noh Hye-sueng, 31, said the reforms would reduce the quality of medical care.

"When they expand the number of medical students, the new students won't be as reliable because schools will have to accept anyone just to fill the quota," she said.

Is there any hope of compromise?

With legislative elections coming in April, when Yoon's party hopes to win back a parliamentary majority, the government is unlikely to compromise quickly, analysts say.

The family alleges that Azad has been hit by a bullet in his leg recently. The whole village is worried for Azad’s wellbeing and has asked the government to look into the fraudulent recruitment scheme which has led to Azad being trapped in Russia and forcibly deployed in the army without his consent.

According to the family members, Azad was offered a job as a cleaner and cook in the Middle East and on his arrival at Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE) was&nbsp;sent to Moscow, Russia.&nbsp;

He was made to sign agreements written in Russian, a language he did not understand and handed over to the Russian Army, where they underwent a 15-day training before being deployed to the Ukraine border. Now the family says only Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi can help them bring back their son.&nbsp;

&nbsp;“He was lured by a YouTube channel blogger by the name of ‘Baba Vlogs’'. He was told that he has to come to Mumbai first and then will get a job in the Middle East. They took his phone in Dubai and sent him to Russia. In Russia, he was recruited in the Russian Army. We lost complete contact with him for over three weeks and finally managed to get in touch with him. He was forced to join the Russian army; he had no idea that he was taken there. He was told that it will be a kitchen helper’s job. It's been three months since he was there. I request PM Modi to help us and get our child back. Our tears have dried up now,”' said Azad’s father. &nbsp;

Azad’s father has provided documents&nbsp;of the agreement in Russia, his number, pictures and the current location.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, another Kashmiri, Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of the Hajinar Tangdar area of Kupwara in North Kashmir has been missing in Russia as well. He was taken to Russia in December 2023 and since then there has been no contact with him. A picture of him has gone viral on social media where he could be seen with other Indians wearing a combat uniform.&nbsp;

Jammu and Kashmir Students Association has met LG Manoj Sinha and&nbsp;written to the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. The association has&nbsp;also spoken to the joint secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs regarding Azad’s case and his return to India.&nbsp;

We have demanded that both of them are repatriated as soon as possible,” said Omar Jamal, National General Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association.&nbsp;

In a letter to President Joe Biden last week, Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp demanded a response to questions surrounding the immigration status of the arrested suspect in the murder of Laken Riley and asylum claims of the suspect's brother.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) revealed that Ibarra was detained in 2022 after entering from Mexico and had a prior arrest in New York.

On Monday (Feb 26), the White House addressed Riley's murder, expressing condolences to the family and loved ones of Laken Hope Riley.

“We believe we have located two bodies,” the NSW police commissioner, Karen Webb, told reporters. She added, “The families have been notified. We are very confident we have located Luke and Jesse.”

The bodies were found in surfboard bags under a fence at a property in rural Bungonia and attempts had been made to cover them with “rocks and debris,” said Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty.&nbsp;

The bodies were discovered four days after Senior Constable Lamarre, 28, was charged with their murders, and co-operated with the detectives, said the police.&nbsp;

Police assistant commissioner Michael Fitzgerald, on Tuesday morning, said that it was the first time since he had been arrested that the accused “willingly told us information”.&nbsp;

<h2>About the case</h2>

Doherty said that the police would allege in court that there was “some type of relationship at some stage” between the NSW officer and the TV presenter. The relationship, according to the police, “did not end well”.&nbsp;

The police believe that the pair was&nbsp;killed on February 19 in Baird’s inner-city home in Paddington and that the two “surf bags” had been used to transport the deceased couple in a white van to the rural property where the bodies were found.&nbsp;

So far, the investigators also found a bullet matching Lamarre’s work-issued gun, a “significant” amount of blood, and upturned furniture in Baird’s home where they believe the murder took place.&nbsp;

On February 19, Baird’s neighbours had heard gunshots, the police say, but they were not reported until days later.&nbsp;

Lamarre made “partial admissions” about the alleged murders to an acquaintance who is said to have accompanied him to a separate property in Bungonia – not where the bodies were found.

The NSW officer had left his female acquaintance after breaking the lock on the property and returned around 30 minutes later.&nbsp;

The police believe that the acquaintance whose identity was immediately clear was an “innocent agent” and said that she was fully cooperating with the officers.&nbsp;
