Forty-one construction workers in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, who were trapped inside a tunnel since Nov 12, were finally rescued on Tuesday (Nov 28). The workers were taken out through 57 metres (187 feet) of steel pipe on stretchers specially fitted with wheels.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his joy soon after the rescue operation was over and said that the 'courage and patience' of workers who were trapped for all these days was inspirational.

As the Israel-Hamas war rages on, Hamas gave away a family of four to another Palestine-based terror organisation in Gaza instead of freeing them, the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) claimed.
