South China Sea Standoff: China Confronts Dutch Warship Near Disputed Islands

Fresh tensions have emerged in the South China Sea after China said it issued warnings to a Dutch frigate and its NH-90 helicopter operating near the disputed Paracel Islands, known as the Xisha Islands in China. Beijing claimed the aircraft repeatedly entered what it considers its territorial airspace and said its forces acted to drive away the vessel and helicopter. The incident highlights the growing strategic importance of the South China Sea.
