The remains of 42 South African freedom fighters, who perished in exile in Zimbabwe and Zambia during the struggle against white minority rule, returned to their homeland on Wednesday. Government officials and family members received the remains at Waterkloof Air Force Base in Pretoria after they were exhumed for reburial. This initiative is part of a government program aimed at providing closure to families whose loved ones died far from home while fighting in the underground movements of the African National Congress and Pan Africanist Congress.
