India plans multiple fighter programmes for the next decade

On the eve of Air Force Day, IAF chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh said the force may consider other fighter aircraft platforms if there are delays in the indigenous fifth-generation Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme. The remarks come as the Indian Air Force faces a shortage of operational fighter squadrons and seeks to strengthen its combat fleet.
