Hachette Book Group had previously announced it would debut Allen's book, 'A Propos of Nothing', in April. Allen has repeatedly denied the accusation that he molested his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, in 1992.

On Thursday, dozens of Hachette employees in New York staged a midday walkout to protest the company's decision to publish Allen's book.

In a statement on Friday, Hachette said it had 'extensive' conversations with staff and others and concluded that publishing the book 'would not be feasible'.

"The decision to cancel Mr. Allen’s book was a difficult one," the statement said. "At HBG we take our relationships with authors very seriously, and do not cancel books lightly. We have published and will continue to publish many challenging books."

Representatives for Allen did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Dylan Farrow and her brother, journalist Ronan Farrow, had both criticized Hachette's plan to release their father's book. The decision was "deeply upsetting to me," Dylan Farrow wrote on Twitter earlier this month.

Allen has denied the allegation by Dylan Farrow, which was also made by her mother, Mia Farrow, who appeared in Allen films and was his longtime partner.

Lawyers for Allen did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Amazon's lawyer Moez Kaba declined to comment.

Cote said Allen and his Gravier Productions Inc failed to allege an "actionable breach" of his so-called multi-picture acquisition agreement or MAA.

"The MAA provides certain benefits to Amazon, such as an exclusive 'first look' at Allen's subsequent literary and visual materials and the right to publicize the parties' agreements, but the plaintiffs do not allege that they suffered damages from the termination of these provisions," the judge wrote.

Allen had originally sued Amazon Content Services LLC and Amazon Studios LLC. The latter is no longer a defendant because it had faced only the now-dismissed unjust enrichment claim.

Allen has won four Oscars, including best director for 1977's 'Annie Hall,'&nbsp;which also won best picture, and several actresses have won Oscars for work in his movies.

But the filmmaker has seen modest commercial returns for many of his films since his bitter breakup with Mia Farrow. Some actors and actresses have expressed regret for appearing in his films after Dylan Farrow's allegation gained renewed attention.

"Amazon cannot continue in business with Mr Allen," Amazon Studios associate general counsel Ajay Patel wrote in a June 19 email.

Six days later, Amazon Studios' outside lawyer emailed that "renewed allegations against Mr. Allen, his own controversial comments, and the increasing refusal of top talent to work with or be associated with him" supported the decision to back out.

Allen's lawyers said none of this justified the cancellation. Both emails were attached to the complaint.

Allen has long denied the allegations made by Dylan, who is one of the star's three children with ex Mia Farrow. Dylan publicly claimed in 2014 that Allen molested her as a child. 
 
"Would I work with Woody Allen again? I see that he's been accused of child abuse. If that's true, I wouldn't. No. But I mean, I read it, but there doesn't seem to be any trials or anything. 
 
"For me, the greatest crime in the world is child abuse. That is worse than anything. I was ill-treated when I was evacuated (from London during World War II) so I am a recipient of child abuse. So I am very, very, very, very critical of anyone who abuses a child," Caine told the Total Film magazine.
