According to the experts, people used to fit the sickle and padlock to the corpse as a form of &nbsp;“double protection” because they feared that the “vampire” would rise from the grave. It was believed that the sickle would ensure the vampire got decapitated if she tried to rise from her grave.&nbsp;

“The sickle was not laid flat, but placed on the neck in such a way that if the deceased had tried to get up most likely the head would have been cut off or injured,” Polinski said.

The digital scan of Zosia’s skull was taken by a facial recognition expert and a copy was made using a 3D printer.

Medical investigator Dr. Heather Edgar examined the bone scans at the University of New Mexico and discovered an abnormality in the breast bone of Zosia, which suggested that she had a physical deformity which may have given her great pain.&nbsp;

The signs of restraint were found in 30 out of the 100 graves because of which the site was nicknamed as the “Field of Vampires.”

They first discovered a stone slab decorated with an engraving of a skull in the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the small village of Pączewo. Upon further digging, they found the skeletal remains of a man dating back to the 17th century, Daily Mail reported.

The man must have been around 50 years of age at the time of his death and was buried six feet below the slab. The skeleton had a sickle around its neck, indicating that he was considered a vampire. Notably, tying a sickle is a medieval practice which was designed to stop vampires from returning from the dead.

Two other skeletons were also found in the same place, but they didn't have a sickle around their neck.&nbsp;

Anthropologist Justyna Kargus said the skull suggests that the man likely suffered several injuries and some sort of trauma before his death.&nbsp;

She said, "His skull had numerous injuries indicating that he probably had many deep scars on his face."

Besides, he likely also lost some of his teeth due to the incidents that caused the scars and injuries. Kargus says this is why he likely appeared different to others. "He would've looked different to average people and that can be scary," she said.

A court in India's Patna city observed that the use of "filthy language" by a couple, who call each other names such as 'bhoot' (ghost) and 'pishach' (vampire) does not amount to 'cruelty'. Patna High Court's judge Justice Bibek Chaudhuri was hearing a petition filed by two residents of Bokaro from neighbouring Jharkhand state.&nbsp;

Naresh Gupta's divorced wife filed a complaint against her husband and father-in-law, 30 years ago in 1994, and accused them of physical and material torture while demanding a car in dowry.&nbsp;

The case was then transferred to Nalanda from Nawada upon a petition by the father-son duo. The two were slapped with a sentence amounting to the imprisonment for a year.&nbsp;

The couple was later granted divorce by the Jharkhand High Court.

While opposing the petition filed before the Patna High Court, the divorced woman's advocate said that "a lady, in the 21st century" was called "bhoot" and "pishach" by her in-laws, which was "a form of immense cruelty".

Speaking to the South West News Service regarding the bizarre discovery, forensic researcher Cicero Moraes said, “When they supposedly identified a vampire, one of those responsible for the plague according to popular myth at the time, they introduced the stone [brick] as a protective element, preventing it from feeding and also from infecting other people."

With the use of reconstruction technology, Moraes looked into the possibility of a brick being lodged inside her mouth while she was still alive “without damaging the teeth and even the soft tissue.”

Ideally, it would have been easier to place the brick inside her mouth after she perished.

There were also theories that a graverobber may have placed the brick inside the mouth of the corpse to “exorcise” her so that she would not bite and infect others after dying.

According to previous studies, the skull belonged to a lower-class European woman, who died at the age of 61.&nbsp;

As per the new study, the skull was recreated by the scientists and concocted a “brick” from styrofoam so as to determine if it was placed inside her mouth before or after death.

The way they have captured and used the beauty and architecture of Kolkata is commendable, and it all perfectly fits the tone of the show. The set and design are incredibly alluring and leave you wanting for more.

The screenplay and writing of the show are solid, the frame shifts from the romance to the investigation and the backstory run smoothly.

The language of the show is a mix of English, Hindi and Bengali and works very well.

The humorous, creepy and weird characters make this show a winner. Apart from Rumi and Roy, there is Wicca Luna Luka, played by Revathi, Adil Hussain as AD, the one who controls the vampire, Ora, a vampire leader played by Anish Railkar, Sikander Kher as cop Kartik, the century-old vampire Meera (Tillotama Shome), David (Saswata Chatterjee). &nbsp;All of these characters are well-written and presented with appropriate screen time and attention.

The cast of the show is fantastic and their outstanding acting will impress you. Sikander Kher as a frustrated alcoholic policeman is commendable. Saswata Chatterjee, as David, Tillotama Shome, as Meera, and Revathi&nbsp;as Luna Luka bring unique charm to the show.

But how director Pratim Dasgupta has made this ordinary vampire-human love story extraordinary makes this show a winner. Set in Kolkata, Tooth Pari: When Love Bites opens in a hotel bar with the charming Rumi (Tanya Maniktala), meeting a random man in the club, however soon the situation changes as we see Rumi's fangs coming out and we are introduced to the blood-sucking dashing vampire. Soon, she calls her partner Sreela, who she's giving training in hunting. Taking the fresh blood of the man, the two walk out and we are introduced to the secret world of vampires, who are living underground, away from the sunlight and human life. It is said that the sickle would have decapitated the alleged blood-sucker monster when it sat up. On the other hand, the use of the padlock would have made it impossible for the beast to return.&nbsp;

These are some popular vampire slaying tricks, which are claimed to be true. Notably, similar anti-vampire burial methods were found in other graves in eastern Europe. &nbsp; &nbsp;

As quoted by media reports, Professor Dariusz Poliński said: "Ways to protect against the return of the dead include cutting off the head or legs, placing the deceased face down to bite into the ground, burning them, and smashing them with a stone."&nbsp;

Professor Poliński added, "[The sickle] was not laid flat but placed on the neck in such a way that if the deceased had tried to get up most likely the head would have been cut off or injured."&nbsp;

Magdalena Zagrodzka added: "This is a unique find. There has never been anything like it before."&nbsp;

The show is an adaptation of the 2004 novel of the same name by John Ajvide Lindqvist, which inspired a 2008 Swedish film and an American remake in 2010. The story follows a being called Eli who appears as a 12-year-old girl but is actually a 200-year-old vampire. She lives with an adult companion who also provides her with food -- luring unsuspecting victims for&nbsp;her and disposing of them&nbsp;when Eli has had her fill.&nbsp;

Eli befriends a troubled young boy and builds a strong friendship with him. Both are rejects from society for different reasons and bond with each other. The Swedish and American remakes are quite different from each other both in terms of setting and themes. The remake was directed by Matt Reeves and was received with positive reviews, though some lamented that it diluted many of the novel's and original film's themes.
