'Cease provocations and threatening actions,' US tells North Korea

Protesters are going on over the custodial death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman who was detained by Iran's morality police for 'improper' attire, last month.

"I want you to know that we stand with the citizens, the brave women of Iran," Biden said at a college in Irvine, California, addressing a group of protesters who had gathered holding "Free Iran" signs.&nbsp;

"It stunned me what it awakened in Iran. It awakened something that I don't think will be quieted for a long, long time," said Biden.&nbsp;

Mahsa Amini passed away on September 16. According to Oslo-based group Iran Human Rights, more than 100 people have been killed since.

The unrest has continued despite what Amnesty International called an "unrelenting brutal crackdown" that included an "all-out attack on child protesters" -- leading to the death&nbsp;of at least 23 minors.&nbsp;

Biden spoke briefly about the Iran protests ahead of a speech on lowering costs for American families in Irvine, near Los Angeles, which has a large Persian community. &nbsp;

"Women all over the world are being persecuted in various ways, but they should be able to wear in God's name what they want to wear," said Biden.&nbsp;

He added that Iran "has to end the violence against its own citizens simply exercising their fundamental rights".

"I want to thank you all for speaking out," he told the local Persian community.

The deal announced on Wednesday will allow the US to send some Venezuelan nationals to Mexico while granting humanitarian access to others. Starting October 12 several flights will be arranged for at least 24,000 migrants to arrive in Washington and stay for up to two years, said the statement.&nbsp;

“These actions make clear that there is a lawful and orderly way for Venezuelans to enter the United States, and lawful entry is the only way…Those who attempt to cross the southern border of the United States illegally will be returned to Mexico and will be ineligible for this process in the future.” said the US secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, in a statement.&nbsp;

The agreement is based on the Uniting for Ukraine programme, under which following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, people from Kyiv could enter Washington by securing a sponsor. This sponsor could be a person or an organisation based in the US and back up their claim that they are in fact a part of the programme, said the media reports.&nbsp;

On the other hand, Mexico has agreed to “temporarily” allow some Venezuelan nationals to enter the country but did not specify the number. Reports suggest that officials in Mexico have argued that economic sanctions against Maduro’s government are fueling illegal immigration and should be eased.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, his opposition, the Republican party has criticised his government for what they claim is Biden’s failure to secure the border.

The media reports first emerged yesterday, citing several sources which sent Albertsons’ share price surging to $28.63 after the deal seemed imminent. Kroger bought the shares at least a 30% premium above the supermarket chain’s average share price over the past month, said the media report. &nbsp;

Kroger is the second largest grocer in the US just behind Walmart and Albertsons stands fourth behind Costo. This merger is set to bring more than 2,200 Albertsons locations and more than 2,700 Kroger stores together.&nbsp;

However, this decision has also come under regulatory scrutiny with some analysts saying it could stifle competition and lead to higher prices for shoppers, reported Reuters. “Albertsons Cos brings a complementary footprint and operates in several parts of the country with very few or no Kroger stores,” said Kroger's CEO Rodney McMullen easing some of the concerns.&nbsp;

While the board members of both companies have unanimously approved the agreement it will also require regulatory approval, indicated media reports. This comes amid soaring prices at grocery stores across the US.&nbsp;

Jones, who was reportedly not present in the court at the time of the hearing, hosts a show called Infowars where he made these claims and was ordered to pay 15 plaintiffs who sued him for defamation with the amounts ranging from $28m to $120m.&nbsp;

This verdict is the second against Jones, in another Texas lawsuit, in August, the jury awarded almost $50m to the parents of another child who was killed during what is claimed to be the deadliest school shooting in the US. The Infowars host&nbsp;claimed that the families seen in the news coverage of the school shooting were actors hired as a part of a plot to take away people’s guns, said media reports.

The Infowars host&nbsp;later took to his show and reacted to the verdict and was reportedly seen mocking and laughing at the amount being awarded to different individuals. Reports suggest that he called the trial “all made up” and went on to urge his viewers to donate money and buy his products in order to offset the damages.&nbsp;

He added, “So this is what a show trial looks like. Ain’t no money,” as he has even in the past repeatedly claimed that he does not have the money to pay such large damages, said media reports. However, representatives of the families have claimed Jones is trying to dodge the payments.&nbsp;

Furthermore, his show has made $50 annually from his empire as profits increased following the two lawsuits against him, said the report. Two police officers were killed while another was wounded after a man opened fire at them while they were called in to respond to a domestic violence call in Connecticut, US.&nbsp;

According to the police, the&nbsp;shooter was killed, while his brother was wounded during the exchange of fire on Wednesday night in Bristol, police said on Thursday.&nbsp;

ABC News quoting police sources reported that the gunman made the 911 call to report a fake domestic violence incident at home, and then ambushed the officers with an AR-15-style rifle.&nbsp;

Sergent Christine Jeltema confirmed the incident saying that the officers had got a call at 10.30 pm about a domestic violence case, and upon reaching them, they were confronted by the gunman.&nbsp;

“Words cannot express the sadness and grief that brings me before you this morning.&nbsp;Sadly, we lost two exceptional police officers, and a third was seriously injured as a result of senseless violence,” said Brian Gould of the Bristol Police Department said, reports New York Times.&nbsp;

The suspect was shot dead at the scene, while the brother was also shot and has been hospitalised in unknown condition, according to police.&nbsp;

According to local reports, the injured officer, 26-year-old Alec Iurato, was released from the hospital on Thursday after undergoing surgery for a severe gunshot wound.&nbsp;

Iurato was released from a Hartford hospital Thursday&nbsp;morning and was greeted by a sea of support and applause from officers.&nbsp;

Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont called the deaths as "senseless tragedy", and ordered flags in Connecticut to be lowered to half-staff.&nbsp;

"This is a devastating reminder of the dangers that police officers face every day to protect our families and neighbors from all kinds of situations. These officers are heroes," the governor was quoted as saying by ABC News.&nbsp;
