The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, on Monday (March 20) said that the former executive’s case has been handed to prosecutors who will then file charges against him. The regulators have also alleged that Zhao “took the state-owned company he managed as his private fiefdom.”&nbsp;

The former executive is among some of the prominent names who are facing an investigation as the Chinese leadership is seemingly getting frustrated over their failure to make semiconductors which can replace the United States-developed circuitry. Chinese President Xi Jinping’s government reportedly poured some $100 billion into the industry in a bid to reduce reliance on the West. &nbsp;

According to the regulators, Zhao allegedly passed profitable businesses to his relatives and friends while purchasing goods and services from companies managed by his associates at “prices significantly higher than the market”. Together, the acts caused heavy losses to national interests, said the regulators.

This also comes after reports that he has been under investigation since July. At the time, Zhao served as chairman of the company affiliated with the prestigious Tsinghua University, Xi’s alma mater. The issue of semiconductors has become a point of contention between China and the US after the latter has increasingly placed restrictions on the former to contain Beijing’s technological ambitions.&nbsp;

Zhao’s company is said to have become one of China's leading chipmakers after a series of acquisitions. However, under his leadership, it defaulted on several bond payments some three years ago, reported BBC.&nbsp;

Tsinghua Unigroup also finished restructuring last July which placed it under the control of another group of companies led by state-backed venture capital firms. It was also around that time that Zhao stepped down as the chairman.

Meanwhile, another area of scrutiny for Beijing’s authorities has reportedly been the National Integrated Circuit Industry Investment Fund or Big Fund where the anti-graft agency had previously announced investigations into executives who helped manage the company’s fund, reported Bloomberg.&nbsp;

One student was killed and another injured in&nbsp;a shooting incident that took place outside a school in US state Texas’s city of Dallas, early Monday. The police have arrested the person suspected of opening fire. The incident occurred at Lamar High School in Arlington, said a statement by the local police.&nbsp;

“At around 6:55 this morning, we received multiple reports of shots fired on campus, outside of the school building,” said police spokesperson Tim Ciesco, before many students arrived for the first day back to classes after the spring break.&nbsp;

According to Arlington Independent School District spokeswoman Anita Foster, one student was injured by the gunfire while the other was hurt by what she described as “debris from the shooting”.&nbsp;

Both students are receiving medical care, however, no immediate information was available regarding their condition. Additionally, their identities have also not been revealed yet. The Arlington police, in a series of tweets also said that they believe the suspected shooter did not enter the campus.&nbsp;

“Officers were able to locate and take that individual into custody shortly after arriving on scene,” said the Arlington police, without releasing any other details about the shooter. Subsequently, the police said they have completed their search of the high school and begun releasing the students after placing it on complete lockdown on Monday morning.&nbsp;

Foster had earlier told CNN that the school will remain on lockdown while police investigate. Meanwhile, the parents were asked to stay away from the campus and as of 10:40 am (local time) after the police had completed their search of the school building, students would be released to their guardians at a “reunification center”.&nbsp;

North Korea's state media said on Saturday (March 18) that 800,000 young North Koreans have volunteered and joined the nation's army to fight "US imperialists." The development has come just days after Pynogyang carried out test of its most powerful intercontinental ballistic missile. North Korea has carried out record number of missile tests in last one year.

This has prompted South Korea and the US to ramp up security co-opeartion. This week, both countries have kicked off their largest joint military drills in five years. &nbsp;&nbsp;

North Korea views all such exercises as rehearsals for invasion and has repeatedly warned it would take "overwhelming" action in response.

The official Korean Central News Agency described the ongoing drills as an American attempt "to provoke a nuclear war" and said that in response, hundreds of thousands of people had enlisted.

The young volunteers are determined to "mercilessly wipe out the war maniacs" so they joined the army to "defend the country", KCNA said.

"More than 800,000 youth league officials and students across the country volunteered to join and rejoin the Korean People's Army" on Friday alone, it added.

Images released by Pyongyang's official Rodong Sinmun showed young North Koreans waiting in long lines to sign their names at what looks like a construction site.

The latest report comes after Pyongyang test-fired its largest and most powerful missile, a Hwasong-17, on Thursday -- its second ICBM test this year.

State media has described the launch as a response to the ongoing, "frantic" US-South Korea joint military drills. 
 
On Saturday, KCNA said the ongoing drills were "inching close to the unpardonable red-line".

Last year, North Korea declared itself an "irreversible" nuclear power, and leader Kim Jong Un recently called for an "exponential" increase in weapons production, including tactical nukes.

Kim earlier this month also ordered the North Korean military to intensify drills to prepare for a "real war".

Pyongyang is using the drills to justify their nuclear weapons program domestically as "crucial and necessary," Yang Moo-jin, president of the University of &nbsp;North Korean Studies in Seoul, told AFP.

This involves "spreading the idea that the South Korea-US military drills ultimately aim to destroy the current North Korean regime and even occupy its capital Pyongyang," Yang added.

Duggan was held by the Australian police authorities upon his arrival from China, where the ex-Marine was staying since 2014. After a hearing on Duggan's extradition, his lawyer Dennis Miralis in his comments outside the court premises flagged the alleged dubiousness with which the Marine was lured into arriving in Australia from China.&nbsp;

The arrest took place in a rural town in New South Wales state in October. However, Duggan's lawyer is now accusing the Australian security agencies of "luring" him into coming to Australia from China.&nbsp;

Accused former US Marine 'lured' into leaving China, got arrested upon arrival in Australia

Air forces of the United States and South Korea on Sunday (March 19) conducted a combined air drill led by B-1B bombers. This drill was part of the ongoing joint drills dubbed "Freedom Shield 23."

A video by South Korea's defence ministry showed two bombers flying in with South Korean F-35A jets and American F-16.

In addition to this,&nbsp;US soldiers conducted an air assault exercise as a part of ongoing joint drills with South Korean soldiers.

At the Rodriguez Live Complex in Pocheon, north of Seoul, less than 30 km (19 miles) from the heavily fortified border with North Korea, military helicopters transported a M777 Howitzer used in air assault training.

As US-South Korea exercise&nbsp;went on, North Korea fired a short-range ballistic missile towards the sea off the east coast of the Korean Peninsula.

A South Korean military statement said that the missile flew some 800 km&nbsp;before hitting a target.

The staff were earlier astonished on finding the eggs.&nbsp;Around the zoo's closing time, Mrs&nbsp;Pickles was discovered by a herpetology keeper. The reptile and amphibian house's animal care crew swiftly located the eggs and transported them there for protection, reported ABC7 Chicago.&nbsp;

Given that the natives of Madagascar cannot thrive in Houston's soil and that it is unlikely the eggs would have hatched had the keeper not been present, it is thought to be unusual.

The over-collection of radiated tortoises for the illegal pet trade has put them in grave danger, and they are known to have a low birth rate.&nbsp;

Together with Mrs&nbsp;Pickles, who moved there in 1996, Mr&nbsp;Pickes has lived at the Houston Zoo for 36 years.&nbsp;A baby was welcomed into the Pickles' family in 1997.&nbsp;

Up until they are big enough to securely reunite with their parents, the new additions will remain in the Reptile and Amphibian House.

Each Houston Zoo membership and entry fee will contribute a portion to assisting the Zoo's Madagascar partners reestablish wildlife areas in order to conserve animals in the wild.
