The police in the US state of Colorado were responding to a call about a screaming woman in the middle of the night, but none of them could have imagined what they would confront.&nbsp;

The incident took place earlier this month where four officers from the Greeley Police Department found a 24-year-old woman in active labour on the front porch and helped deliver her babies.&nbsp;

<h2>What happened?</h2>

The Greeley Police Department dispatched officers at around 3:30 am (local time) in response to “reports of a woman screaming in the front yard” and found a 24-year-old woman “lying on the front porch in obvious pain,” said the department.&nbsp;

The officers quickly realised that the woman was in active labour and called the emergency medical personnel while trying their best to keep the woman comfortable as the ambulance arrived.&nbsp;

Subsequently, the officers heard a faint cry and realised that a baby boy had been delivered and he was turning blue. At the time, it was snowing and raining and the temperature was around 32 degrees Fahrenheit (zero degrees Celsius), said the police.&nbsp;

“One officer located bread ties to tie off the umbilical cord while another ran to nearby homes and collected towels and blankets to help keep the new family warm,” said the police.&nbsp;

A third officer who was with the new mother tied off the umbilical cord and cut it, while a fourth officer rushed the baby boy to the patrol car to keep him warm.&nbsp;

Inside the vehicle, the baby had stopped breathing, prompting the officer to administer infant CPR, and the medical staff arrived shortly after and were able to help the child.&nbsp;

As it turns out, that was not the end of it. The new mother told the officer who was with her that she was expecting two more babies. The officers immediately called for more medical personnel to the scene.&nbsp;

A second baby boy was delivered with the help of the officers and “was also rushed to the ambulance where medical personnel were still tending to the first baby,” said the police.&nbsp;

“The first two babies were taken to a local hospital for advanced medical care. A second ambulance arrived, and officers assisted the mother into it. She was rushed to the same hospital and immediately taken into surgery to deliver the last baby.”

<h2>How are the babies?</h2>

All three babies had strong heartbeats and were being taken care of in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), said the police.&nbsp;

The police also believe that the 24-year-old was home alone when she went into labour and her phone had died so she tried to get to her neighbour’s home to call for help.&nbsp;

Eric Mayeda, the father of the triplets, took to Facebook and said all the babies are “doing well!”&nbsp;

“Kiku and Billy are both improving by leaps and bounds! Hopefully kiku can be extubated sometime in the next week or so. Billy they are thinking maybe in the next 2 weeks,” he added.&nbsp;

During the demolition of an old high school in Owatonna, Minnesota, workers found a time capsule that had been buried for over a century. The contents of the capsule were shown&nbsp;to the public for the first time at a press conference held this week, as reported by CBS News.&nbsp;

During the event, Bob Olson, who serves as the director of facilities, infrastructure, and security at Owatonna Public Schools, mentioned that the capsule was found during the demolition of an old school building. According to the Owatonna People's Press, the school in question was the former Owatonna High School, which was built in 1921.

Olson told the construction crew to carefully remove a cornerstone during the demolition. They found a time capsule inside it, which had been placed there in 1920. Inside, they found many things, including an old student newspaper, reports about money, a list of important people, items from a local group, and even a booklet written in Czech. They also found out that there were only 327 students at the school back then.

Elstad stated that they will sort through the documents in the capsule to find those directly connected to the school district. These selected items will be preserved and possibly exhibited at the new school district office and high school. Additionally, the Steele County Historical Society will also take some items for preservation and display purposes.

In&nbsp;a similar case,&nbsp;a dog in Florida, while digging the ground found an unexploded military bomb, which was decades old.

The pet parents placed the weapon back where his dog found it and then contacted the authorities. The bomb weighed approximately 10 pounds and measured around one foot in length.

According to a police report, the level of deterioration observed on the weapon suggested that it had been buried underground for a long&nbsp;period.

US&nbsp;intelligence agencies have said that Russian President Vladimir Putin probably did not personally order the killing of opposition leader Alexei Navalny at an Arctic prison camp in February, as reported by the Wall Street Journal on Saturday (April 27).

Navalny, aged 47 at the time of his death, was known as one of Putin's most vocal&nbsp;critics within Russia. His allies, who have been labelled extremists by authorities, have accused Putin of orchestrating Navalny's killing&nbsp;and have said they would&nbsp;present evidence to support their accusation.&nbsp;

The Kremlin has refuted any state involvement, with Putin describing Navalny's death as "sad" last month and expressing willingness to exchange the jailed politician with the West, on the condition that Navalny would not return to Russia.

Navalny's associates claimed discussions about such an exchange had been ongoing. According to unnamed sources familiar with the situation, as reported by The Wall Street Journal, US&nbsp;intelligence agencies have determined that Putin likely did not give the order to have Navalny killed in February.

While Washington hasn't fully cleared Putin of responsibility for Navalny's death, it acknowledges Navalny was targeted by Russian authorities for years, jailed on what the West sees as politically motivated charges, and poisoned with a nerve agent in 2020. The Kremlin has denied&nbsp;involvement in the poisoning.

Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, responding to the Journal's report, called it&nbsp;"empty speculation".

"I've seen the material, I wouldn't say it's high quality material that deserves attention," Peskov told reporters when asked about the matter.

The US&nbsp;evaluation considered various sources, including classified intel and public facts like the timing of Navalny's death, which coincided with Putin's reelection in March, according to sources cited by the paper. Leonid Volkov, a top aide to Navalny, dismissed the US&nbsp;findings as naive and absurd.

US intel suggests Putin unlikely to have ordered Navalny's killing: Report

United States President Joe Biden did not hold back as he roasted his predecessor and rival for the upcoming presidential election Donald Trump, during the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner, on Saturday (Apr 27).&nbsp;

Meanwhile, hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters gathered outside the venue chanting “shame on you” as Biden and Washington’s political and media elites arrived.&nbsp;

<h2>‘Sleepy Don’</h2>

The US president began the roast at the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner with multiple jokes directed at Trump including calling him “sleepy Don,” a reference to the nickname “sleepy Joe” that the former president had given Biden previously.&nbsp;

The gathering of hundreds of top journalists, politicians, and celebrities in Washington proved to be a good platform for the president ahead of the upcoming November elections, where he also&nbsp;admonished his Republican rival for his immaturity.&nbsp;

“The 2024 election is in full swing and, yes, age is an issue,” said Biden, 81, who is currently the oldest US president. He added, “I’m a grown man running against a six-year-old.”&nbsp;

“Age is the only thing we have in common. My vice president actually endorses me,” Biden said referring to Trump’s falling out with his former VP Mike Pence, who defied him and certified the results of the 2020 elections.&nbsp;

The US president also poked fun at Trump’s ongoing hush money trial where the former president was seen at the Manhattan courthouse day after day since it began on April 15. “Donald has had a few tough days lately. You might call it Stormy weather,” said Biden.&nbsp;

The event, which is often referred to as Washington’s “nerd prom,” was hosted by Saturday Night Live (SNL) cast member Colin Jost.&nbsp;

On a serious note, Biden also offered some advice to the journalists gathered calling them to “rise up to the seriousness of the moment”.&nbsp;

“I’m sincerely not asking you to take sides,” said the US president. “I’m asking you to rise up to the seriousness of the moment. Move past the horse race numbers and the gotcha moments and the distractions, the sideshows that have come to dominate and sensationalize our politics, and focus on what's actually at stake.”

<h2>‘Really bad’</h2>

But it seems like Trump was less than amused by the jokes made at his expense as he took to his social media platform Truth Social and called the annual “really bad.”

The annual dinner was also marked by hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters draped in the traditional Palestinian keffiyeh chanting “shame on you!” as Washington’s elites hurried inside for the dinner.

“Western media we see you, and all the horrors that you hide,” crowds chanted at one point, as per the Associated Press.

Three women from the Indian state of Gujarat tragically got killed in a devastating car accident in the United States. The accident occurred in Greenville County, South Carolina, as their SUV veered off Interstate 85 at Staunton Bridge Road, crashing into trees. The three women were identified as Rekhaben Patel, Manishaben Patel, and&nbsp;Sangitaben Patel, who were living in Georgia. They were originally from Borsad tehsil in Gujarat's Anand district.&nbsp;

According to Deputy Coroner Mike Ellis, the SUV was traveling at a high speed&nbsp;that became evident from its trajectory off the road, collision with a cement bridge, and subsequent impact with trees.

Ellis said, "It is obvious they were traveling above the posted speed limit."

A 29-year-old environmental activist and forestry student from Ghana is making headlines after he set a new world record for hugging more than 1,100 trees in one hour.&nbsp;

The record-breaking feat took place in the Tuskegee National Forest, one of the four national forests in the state of Alabama, United States, the Guinness World Records (GWR) announced on Friday (Apr 26).&nbsp;

<h2>About the record</h2>

Abubakar Tahiru took his love for trees to the next level after he rushed through the forest hugging a total of 1,123 trees in one hour, which according to the record-keeping organisation is an average of 19 trees per minute.&nbsp;

For this record, a hug was defined as “both arms wrapped around a tree in a close embrace,” said the GWR.&nbsp;

The criteria for the record also included rules like no tree should be hugged more than once and any damage to the trees can result in disqualification.&nbsp;

Tahiru, according to the GWR, hugged one three for around three seconds and easily surpassed the minimum requirement of 700 to become the first holder of this record.

<h2>‘Incredibly rewarding’</h2>

Speaking about the record-breaking feat, the 29-year-old said that the hardest part of the record attempt was to quickly move between the trees while ensuring that each hug met the criteria.&nbsp;

He also said that the “repetitive hugging motion” was “quite tiring.”

“Achieving this world record feels incredibly rewarding,” said Tahiru, as quoted by the GWR. He added, “It’s a meaningful gesture to highlight the crucial role of trees in our ecosystem and the urgency of environmental conservation.”

Tahiru grew up in a farming community in Tepa, Ghana, where he also developed a keen interest in nature and its conservation.&nbsp;

Tahiru moved to Alabama, last year after finishing his undergraduate degree specialising in forestry at one of Ghana’s top universities and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in the subject at Auburn University.&nbsp;

After he set the new world record, the 29-year-old also spoke about how important it is for him to inspire the youth in Ghana “especially those from less privileged communities like the one I grew up in,” and show them “that it’s possible to rise above challenges and make a significant impact.”

A concerning development has surfaced in the case of Dr. Dharmesh Patel, an Indian-American radiologist currently incarcerated in Redwood City jail. In light of an incident in 2023 where Dr Patel purportedly drove his vehicle off a 250-foot cliff at Devil Slide in California on January 2, with his family onboard, medical experts now suggest he was undergoing a psychotic episode during the incident.

Subsequently, he was arrested at Stanford Hospital shortly after the accident on suspicion of attempting to kill&nbsp;his wife and two children.

In 2023, Dharmesh Arvind Patel, his wife Neha (41), and their two kids—a 7-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy—were in the car. Patel was driving on the Pacific Coast Highway when he suddenly drove off the road. Everyone in the car, including Patel, his wife, and their kids, survived without injuries.

As per Steve Wagstaffe, the district attorney of San Mateo County, two medical professionals informed investigators that Patel experienced a mental breakdown at the time of the crash, believing that his two children were being trafficked for sexual exploitation, The Los Angeles Times stated on April 24.

A case review of Dr&nbsp;Dharmesh Patel conducted by psychologist Dr&nbsp;Mark Patterson revealed Patel's state, suggesting he was grappling with a mental disorder that had escalated prior to the event. In discussions with medical professionals, Patel mentioned hearing footsteps approaching him from behind, a fact supported by his wife. Initially, Patel informed investigators that he was battling depression and had contemplated driving his car off a cliff.

<h2>What's Patel's current status?</h2>

The 42-year-old has been held responsible for the incident, resulting in the suspension of his medical license. Patel is presently pursuing a mental health diversion programme, which would include being released from custody to undergo a two-year treatment regimen.

Previously, regulatory authorities, in their legal documents, asserted that Patel presented "a significant threat to public safety" due to impaired cognitive functions essential for safe medical practice.

With this recent development, should he refrain from engaging in further criminal activities or violating any stipulated terms during his release, the charges against him will be dismissed.

However, prosecutors contend that the psychiatrist appointed to diagnose Patel on their behalf did not diagnose him with major depressive disorder with psychosis but rather identified him as suffering from Schizoaffective Disorder. They have presented their argument advocating for the case to remain in court.

Police in the United States 'detained' more than 150 people, mostly students at two Universities on Saturday (April 27), in a show of heavy-handedness against pro-Palestinian protestors amid campus clashes triggered by Israel-Hamas war.&nbsp;

Police in Boston detained about 100 people while clearing a protest camp at Northeastern University. Social media posts showed security forces in riot gear and officers loading tents onto the back of a truck.

In the Arizona State University, police arrested 69 people for trespassing after the group set up an "unauthorized encampment" on campus.

In Boston, the police action came after some protesters resorted to "virulent anti-Semitic slurs, including 'Kill the Jews,'" Northeastern University said in a statement on social media platform X.

Arizona State officials said a protest group -- "most of whom were not ASU students, faculty or staff" -- had set up a camp Friday and then ignored repeated orders to abandon the encampment.

The campus protests have exposed&nbsp;US' double standards on preaching freedom of expression to the world while showing police heavy-handedness against similar expressions at home. They have posed a major challenge to some Ivy League universities who are trying to balance commitments to free expression with complaints that the rallies have spilled into anti-Semitism and hate speech.

In a statement on X, Northeastern University said the area on campus where the protests were held was now "fully secured" and "all campus operations have returned to normal."

The school said it made the move after "what began as a student demonstration two days ago was infiltrated by professional organizers with no affiliation to Northeastern."

It added that detained individuals who produced a valid school ID were released and will face disciplinary proceedings, not legal action.

"Those who refused to disclose their affiliation were arrested," the school said.

<h2>'Intimidating conduct' by protestors at Pennsylvania University</h2>

Dozens of students remained encamped on Saturday (April 27) at the University of Pennsylvania, despite the college president ordering disbandment after&nbsp;"credible reports of harassing and intimidating conduct."

Meanwhile, Columbia University in New York, the starting point of the protests, was relatively calm Saturday. Officials there announced Friday that they would not be calling police back on campus after more than 100 people were arrested last week.

"To bring back the NYPD at this time would be counterproductive, further inflaming what is happening on campus, and drawing thousands to our doorstep who would threaten our community," school leaders said in a statement, referring to the New York Police Department.

Columbia signaled it had barred from campus Khymani James, a leader of the campus protests who had said in a video in January that "Zionists don't deserve to live," and "Be grateful that I'm not just going out and murdering Zionists."

"Chants, signs, taunts and social media posts from our own students that mock and threaten to 'kill' Jewish people are totally unacceptable, and Columbia students who are involved in such incidents will be held accountable," the school said.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday (Apr 28) said that the United States was the only country that could stop an Israeli invasion of the border city of Rafah in Gaza.

"We call on the United States of America to ask Israel not to carry on the Rafah attack. America is the only country able to prevent Israel from committing this crime," Abbas said at a special meeting of the World Economic Forum in the Saudi capital Riyadh.

He further stated that the Israeli offensive, which is expected to take place in the coming days, could prompt an evacuation in the region, pushing people out of the besieged Palestinian enclave, saying that this could be the "biggest catastrophe in the Palestinian people's history".

"What will happen in the coming few days is what Israel will do with attacking Rafah because all the Palestinians from Gaza are gathered there," Abbas said.

Further reiterating that he rejects the displacement of Palestinians into Jordan and Egypt, he expressed his concern over Israel completing its operation in Gaza stating that this would push the Palestinians to move out of the West Bank and take shelter in Jordan.
