The European Parliament declared Russia as a "state sponsor of terrorism" on Tuesday for the "brutal and inhumane" acts inflicted by the government and military on Ukraine since the start of the conflict. The resolution was approved during the monthly plenary session in Strasbourg with 494 member states voting in favour, 58 against it and 44 members decided to abstain completely.

It was introduced by European People's Party, Renew Europe and the European Conservatives and Reformists group (ECR) against Russia’s "illegal, unprovoked and unjustified war of aggression".

"The deliberate attacks and atrocities carried out by the Russian Federation against the civilian population of Ukraine, the destruction of civilian infrastructure and other serious violations of human rights and international humanitarian law amount to acts of terror against the Ukrainian population and constitute war crimes," the resolution read according to AFP.

"In the light of the above, (the European Parliament) recognises Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism and as a state which uses means of terrorism," it further stated.

The members of the EU parliament also condemned the humanitarian as well as food crisis created by the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war all around the world. As a result, they decided to develop a new legal framework to prevent such situation and hold the responsible countries accountable.

Apart from the criticism, the resolution also demanded for a "comprehensive international isolation" of Russia and implementation of sanctions both on the economic as well as political fronts.

"Contacts with its official representatives at all levels (should) be kept to the absolute minimum necessary," lawmakers said while explaining the measures EU have decided to take in the near future.

Ukraine’s infrastructure and power grids have been severely affected by the missile strikes from the Russian military and according to estimates, it can leave 10 million Ukrainians without electricity.

Kyiv Post quoted Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal as saying that the government are all set to import 8500 power generator sets daily in order to combat the lack of power in the winter months.

The government has also started evacuations in the Kherson region which was ravaged by war in the past few months. The Ukrainian resistance forces were successful in liberating the region, which was annexed by Russia following the referendums, but it came at a huge cost. Following the fighting and missile strikes, most power grids were damaged, and it resulted in forced evacuation of the citizens.

Ukrainian government promises shelters for citizens ahead of 'life threatening winter'

On November 15, a missile struck Poland and killed two people and there were many questions being raised if they were fired from the Russia or Ukrainian side. In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Orban did not directly address the controversy over the scarf.

"Soccer is not politics. Do not read things into it that are not there," he wrote. "The Hungarian national team belongs to all Hungarians, wherever they live!"

The two countries have repeatedly clashed in recent years over what Hungary said were curbs on the right of ethnic Hungarians living in Ukraine to use their native tongue, especially in education, after Ukraine passed a law in 2017 restricting the use of minority languages in schools.

Ukraine to protest Orban wearing scarf showing Ukraine territory as Hungary's

Ukraine has accused Russia of looting historical artifacts from Kherson before its troops retreated from the Ukrainian city. &nbsp;Ukraine's culture minister made the allegation on Saturday (November 19) and said that nearly 15,000 artefacts were looted from Kherson Art Museum.

"They (Russian forces) simply robbed two museums and stole the most significant artifacts. In Art museum, it probably was almost 80 percent of collection. And big part in another museum, mainly the most expensive pictures (paintings), coins, " Oleksandr Thachenko, Ukraine's Minister of Culture said.

The museum said on Facebook that a few dozen of Russian soldiers came into the museum on October 31. They were then reportedly seen carrying out paintings and other artworks for next three days. The artworks were then loaded onto trucks. The museum said that the loote artefacts were taken to Simferopol in Crimea.

The collection of the Kherson Art Museum, also known as the Shovkunenko Kherson Regional Art Museum contained religious paintings dating back to the 17th century, Ukrainian art of the 19th century as well as collections of modernist and contemporary Ukrainian art.

Exposition of the Kherson Regional Museum contained some 10,000 archeological artifacts including items found during excavations of the ancient Greek colony of Olbia. The vast collection of over 173,000 artifacts stored in the museum coves the region’s natural history, pre and post revolutionary history.

Russian authorities in occupied Kherson tried to convert city's regional theatre into Russian cultural centre. But the efforts were not very successful.

"All they (Russians) managed to organise was a few concerts, that's all. A few small concerts, that's all. They never managed to stage a play," Oleksandr Knyha, the theatre's creative director said on his first visit back to the theatre after the Russian retreat.

Kherson theatre, named after Ukrainian playwright Mykola Kulish, was one of the region's most renowned cultural institutions and a host of annual International Theatre Festival 'Melpomene of Tavria'.

"As soon as we can, as soon as there is electricity, we will stage the first performances, " Knyha said adding that tickets for the February 24 performance will be honoured as soon as the theatre reopens.

A 1000-year-old Orthodox Christian monastery in Kyiv was raided by Ukraine's SBU security service and police early on Tuesday (November 22) suspecting "subversive activities by Russian special services". &nbsp;

The monastery is a Ukrainian cultural treasure. It is also the headquarters of &nbsp;Russian-backed wing of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church that falls under the Moscow Patriarchate.

Head Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church, has strongly supported Russia's Ukraine invasion. He condemned action by the Ukrainian security services as "act of intimidation". Ukrainian security service SBU said it took the action counter &nbsp;"destructive activities of Russian special services in Ukraine."

"These measures are being taken ... as part of the systemic work of the SBU to counter the destructive activities of Russian special services in Ukraine," said SBU in a statement.

It said the search was aimed at preventing the use of the cave monastery as "the centre of the Russian world" and carried out to look into suspicions "about the use of the premises ... for sheltering sabotage and reconnaissance groups, foreign citizens, weapons storage".

The concept of "Russian world" is important part of President Vladimir Putin's new foreign policy doctrine that aims to protect Russia's language, culture and religion.

The SBU did not say what was the outcome of Tuesday's raid.

Ukrainian security services raid Kyiv monastery suspecting Russian sabotage

The Kremlin said on Monday that Russia is no longer interested in changing the government in Ukraine and the main goal behind the “special operation” is to help the Russian sympathisers in the various parts of the country and to combat the so-called “anti-Russian enclave”. From the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine war, the Kremlin were completely against the current government staying in power in Kyiv but over time, they have decided to soften their approach. It was once again confirmed by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov during the media briefing.

In the past few months, Ukraine have made a steady headway into territories previously captured by Russia and it even resulted in the Kremlin ordering Russian forces to evacuate their position in the Kherson region. The liberation of Kherson held special importance to the Ukrainian forces as it was the regions which were annexed by Russia following a series of referendums.

However, due to the constant fighting and Russia’s targeted attack on Ukraine’s power grids and infrastructure, people in Kyiv and many other regions face a harsh winter without any electricity. Even the World Health Organisation (WHO) said on Monday that the winter can be “life threating” for people in Ukraine as around 10 million of them will have to stay without electricity.

“The devastating energy crisis, the deepening mental health emergency, constraints on humanitarian access and the risk of viral infections will make this winter a formidable test for the Ukrainian health system,” WHO said in their report.

Ukraine denies executing Russian prisoners of war

Ukraine is all set to experience a “life threatening” winter due to the lack of electricity caused by attacks on key infrastructure by the Russian military. As a result, the government has planned evacuation for citizens living in the worst-affect areas and it can start with the newly-liberated regions of Mykolaiv and Kherson. Ukraine’s deputy prime minister Iryna Vereshchuk informed the media on Monday that both regions will face evacuation and the people will be moved to the central and western parts of Ukraine.&nbsp;

The announcement coincided with the report from the World Health Organisation (WHO) claiming that the ongoing invasion by Russia has severely damaged the energy grid of Ukraine and as a result, this can be the worst winter in history for the people who will have to survive without any electricity.&nbsp;

"This winter will be life-threatening for millions of people in Ukraine," Hans Kluge, WHO regional director for Europe, told reporters. "Put simply –- this winter will be about survival," he added.&nbsp;

The two southern regions have been at the centre of conflict recently. Kherson was one of the regions which were annexed by Russia after a number of referendums. However, the Ukrainian military fought back in the past few months and was able to take it back with Russia deciding to retreat.&nbsp;

The situation is not restricted to the two regions as even the capital Kyiv is facing power outages and it is estimated that around 15 Ukrainian provinces may end up losing power during the winter months.&nbsp;

Warsaw and NATO have said the explosion was likely caused by a Ukrainian air-defence rocket&nbsp;launched to intercept a Russian barrage, but that Moscow was ultimately to blame because it started the conflict.

"I welcomed the German proposal with satisfaction," said Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak on Twitter.

"In my telephone conversation with the German side today, I will propose that the system be stationed close to the border with Ukraine," he said.

German Patriot anti-aircraft units are already deployed in Slovakia, with Lambrecht saying Berlin was seeking to keep them there for longer, "until the end of 2023 and potentially even beyond".

"It is our utmost responsibility that NATO does not become a participant in this conflict," while strengthening its air defences, she said.

Germany offers to deploy anti-aircraft systems in Poland

His words have come just a day after International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said that there was shelling at Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant. Both, Russia and Ukraine have accused each other of shelling the plant.

The nuclear plant in Zaporizhzhia is a Ukrainian plant currently under Russian control. The shelling raised fears of a nuclear accident just 500 km from Chernobyl which is the site of world's worst nuclear disaster that took place in 1986.

"All our nations are interested in not having any dangerous incidents at our nuclear facilities," Zelensky said in a video address to NATO's Parliamentary Assembly in Madrid.

"We all need guaranteed protection from Russian sabotage at nuclear facilities," he added.

Reuters said it was unable to verify whether it was Russia or Ukraine that was responsible for shelling at the site of the nuclear plant.&nbsp;

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the United Nations' nuclear watchdog, said such attacks risked a major disaster.

Russia said earlier on Monday that Zaporizhzhia's shelling could unleash a grave nuclear accident, repeating its accusations that Ukrainian forces were to blame.

“Moldova is directly impacted because it's dependent on Russian energy supplies and is a country which has a part of its territory controlled by Russian soldiers so it's especially vulnerable,” said the French diplomat during a press briefing. Earlier this month, the European Union pledged at least 250 million euros (nearly $260 million) following Moscow’s reduction of natural gas supply.&nbsp;

Oleh Skrypka, a Ukrainian rock singer, gave a performance at the event. Passengers in the crowd, including Ukrainian military, sang along.

"Anyone who intervenes economically in a military conflict is taking a position," Orban said during the interview. "Little by little, we are sliding towards war," he added. Orban further added that he will keep fighting against the EU’s sanctions on Russia and will ensure Hungary is exempted from them.

We are becoming an integral part [of the conflict]. We are not being shot at yet, but we are about to become belligerent. Europe is playing a very dangerous game."

Orban has also opposed the EU’s proposal to provide $18 billion in aid to Ukraine in form of loans. "Hungary is not going to accept that EU members take out loans together to help Ukraine," he declared.

Inflation is soaring in the country, currently exceeding 20 per cent, while food prices have risen 45 per cent compared to the last year. According to Focus Economics, the Hungarian economy shrank 0.4 per cent&nbsp;on a seasonally adjusted quarter-on-quarter basis in the third quarter.

Now, Orban’s campaign is to blame the EU’s economic sanctions on Russia for Hungary’s poor state of economy. The government has already launched “national consultations” on the issue and put up posters around the country with the caption: "Brussels sanctions are ruining us" against a picture of a missile.

Powerful explosions took place at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant on Sunday (November 20). Both Russia and Ukraine have traded blame saying the other side shelled the power plant.&nbsp;The Ukrainian nuclear plant is currently under Russian control.

Kyiv "does not stop its provocations aiming at creating the threat of a man-made catastrophe at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant", said Russian army in a statement, as per AFP.&nbsp;

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that there were powerful explosions at the nuclear power plant and has warned all parties to stop "playing with fire."

"Explosions occurred at the site of this major nuclear power plant, which is completely unacceptable. Whoever is behind this, it must stop immediately. As I have said many times before, you're playing with fire!" IAEA chief&nbsp;Rafael Grossi said in a statement.

Russian news agency TASS said that 15 shells were fired at the plant's facilities, said the report citing a Russian official.

"They shelled not only yesterday, but also today, they are shelling right now," said the official, adding that any artillery attack at the site posed a threat to nuclear safety.

Meanwhile, Ukraine's nuclear power agency&nbsp;has accused Russia of shelling the nuclear power plant.

The Zaporizhzhia plant, which Russia occupied shortly after its invasion of Ukraine, has since come under repeated shelling, with both Kyiv and Moscow accusing each other of attacks and risking a nuclear accident.

The facility, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, provided about a fifth of Ukraine's electricity before Russia's Feb. 24 invasion, and has been forced to operate on back-up generators a number of times.

A fortnight after Iran admitted to having delivered drones to Russia, the two countries are said have reached an agreement to manufacture the unmanned weaponised aircraft on Russian soil, says a report by The Washington Post.&nbsp; 
 
"Russian and Iranian officials finalised the deal during a meeting in Iran in early November, and the two countries are moving rapidly to transfer designs and key components that could allow production to begin within months," the publication reported while quoting three anonymous officials.

The deal will help Russia increase its stockpile of weapons of destruction that have seemingly changed the tide in the war.&nbsp;

The report added that once the deal is finalised, it will deepen&nbsp;the Russia-Iran alliance which has only grown stronger in the recent months.

Why Russia needed Iranian drones?

The eight-month-long war had depleted Russia's weapon arsenal and it was&nbsp;looking for alternatives to not only mount a comeback but to also send a message to the Western world that it was not out of the war,&nbsp;yet.&nbsp;&nbsp;

After Ukraine regained significant ground by pushing back Russian troops and recapturing some of the lost regions, forcing Putin to call for partial mobilisation, Moscow closed the gap by bombarding Ukrainian cities and towns with deadly Iranian drones, according to news reports.

Iran admits to supplying the drones

However, earlier this month, Iranian foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian admitted that Iran had indeed supplied a limited number of drones.&nbsp;

"We supplied Russia with a limited number of drones months before the war in Ukraine," said&nbsp;Amir-Abdollahian.

"In a telephone conversation with the Ukrainian foreign minister last week, we agreed that if there was evidence (of Moscow's use of Iranian drones), he would provide it to us," Amir-Abdollahian said.&nbsp;

Iran strikes deal to manufacture drones on Russian soil for Ukraine war: Report

A new 60 million dollar (50 million pounds) package from Britain will contain anti-aircraft weaponry and equipment like radar to fend off drone assaults. Britain added that it would expand the amount of training it offers to the Ukrainian military.

"I am here today to say that the UK will continue to stand with you... until Ukraine has won the peace and security it needs and deserves," Sunak said in a press conference with President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv.

"And then we will stand with you as you rebuild your great country," Sunak added.
