Johnson’s Downing Street team is currently waging an “anyone but Rishi” campaign, accusing the former finance minister Rishi Sunak of planning the cabinet coup that led to Johnson’s ouster after a slew of scandals. Those include the ‘Partygate,’ which refers to events held by Johnson at his residence in violation of Covid guidelines when rest of UK was under lockdown imposed by his own government. The prime minister, while laughing, responded that he’s not following the Tory election that closely.

Rishi resigned this month despite always being an outspoken backer of Johnson's ideas, claiming that his own method of handling the economy was "fundamentally" different from that of the PM.

Zahawi when addressing the business representatives in London will attempt to pull all of that aside by vowing to ‘manage inflation’, enhance the private sector economy, and will offer a post-Brexit vision for financial services, AFP reported.&nbsp;

The ministry in a statement stated that the minister will commit to, “repeal hundreds of pieces of retained EU law and replacing them with a coherent and agile approach to financial regulation that is right for us."
