<p>Catalonia's separatist president on Tuesday nominated an administration without jailed and exiled former ministers who backed its independence push, paving the way for Madrid to end its direct rule over the northeastern region.</p>

<p>Spain's central government earlier this month recognised the powers of newly elected Catalan leader Quim Torra but refused to ratify his choice of councillors because four of them are facing charges linked to last year's independence drive, calling their nomination "a new provocation".</p>

<p>Two of the four men are in custody awaiting trial at a jail near Madrid, while the other two are in self-imposed exile in Belgium.</p>

<p>The row has prolonged the political impasse in the wealthy northeastern region of Spain, which has been without a government since Madrid in October sacked the Catalan government and imposed direct rule over Catalonia following a failed declaration of independence.</p>

<p>Under the terms of emergency legislation brought in to take over the Catalan administration, Madrid must lift direct rule once a Catalan government is fully formed and cabinet members are sworn in.</p>

<p>Torra, a hardline separatist, late on Tuesday "signed a new decree to form a government in Catalonia", his office said in a statement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The 13 councillors whom he nominated did not include the four jailed or exiled former ministers from ousted Catalan president Carles Puigdemont's government.</p>

<p>The four men agreed with Torra's decision to nominate a new administration that no longer includes them as they "have always wanted to be part of the solution and not the problem" and want a new Catalan government to be formed "as soon as possible", the statement added.</p>

<p>Torra has been under pressure from some segments of his own separatist camp to adopt a more conciliatory stance to allow a new Catalan government to take office and end Madrid's direct rule.</p>

<p><strong>Accept reality</strong></p>

<p>Ines Arrimadas, the leader of Ciudadanos, the main opposition party in Catalonia which wants the region to remain a part of Spain, accused Torra of nominating the four men even though he knew they would not become his councillors "to continue the conflict" with Madrid.</p>

<p>"He should accept reality, respect all Catalans and govern within a democratic framework but he will not do it," she added in a Twitter message.</p>

<p>Torra, a 55-year-old editor who has long campaigned for independence, was chosen by Puigdemont to be Catalonia's next leader after separatist parties kept their absolute majority in regional elections in December.</p>

<p>The election result was a severe blow to the Spanish government which had called the polls in the hope of heading off the secessionist push in the region, which is home to around 7.5 million people and is about the size of Belgium.</p>

<p>Puigdemont is currently in Berlin awaiting potential extradition to Spain, where he faces jail on charges of rebellion and misuse of public funds.</p>

<p>In a brief swearing-in ceremony on May 17, Torra promised to "loyally fulfil the duties of the post of regional president being faithful to the will of the Catalan people represented by the Catalan parliament", but he did not promise to obey the Spanish constitution.</p>

<p>While the pro-independence movement has grown in strength over the years, the region remains deeply divided on the issue.</p>

<p>Catalonia is a major engine for growth, accounting for around 19 percent of the country's GDP, and the confrontation has sparked Spain's worst political crisis in decades.</p>

<p>The veterans slammed the president and called his tweet the "most inappropriate" memorial day comment ever made by an American president.</p>

<p>"This is the most inappropriate #MemorialDay comment that a @POTUS has ever made. Self-promotion on a day to remember the fallen, and wishing those remembering their deceased loved ones a “happy” holiday is appalling. #CadetBoneSpurs," noted&nbsp;a group of war veterans.</p>

<p>The group was also furious at the Republican Party's effort to&nbsp;raise funds on Memorial Day by offering a 25 per cent discount on official Trump campaign merchandise.</p>

<p>"Really @GOP? You think this is what’s #MemorialDay is all about. Maybe you can #TakeAKnee and remember the fallen", the group tweeted in response to the Republican party's Memorial Day deal.</p>

<p>Several others, including family members of soldiers and veterans, expressed their anger on Twitter.</p>

<p>National Australia Bank on Saturday suffered what it described as a "nationwide outage" to some of its technology systems, leaving customers unable to access banking services or withdraw money.</p>

<p>The bank tweeted just after midday (0200 GMT) on Saturday that some services were coming back online.</p>

<p>"We're sorry and it's not good enough ... but we'll get it fixed as soon as possible," Chief Customer Officer Business and Private Banking Anthony Healy said in a video posted on Twitter.</p>

<p>NAB is one of Australia's four largest retail banks with a customer base of 9 million, according to its website.</p>

<p>The outage follows growing customer discontent with the so-called "Big Four" banks, which have suffered numerous embarrassing disclosures at an inquiry into financial sector misconduct.</p>

<p>A spokesman from the bank told Reuters by telephone that it was a national outage, without elaborating on its cause.</p>

<p>The Bank of New Zealand, a NAB subsidiary, also experienced outages on Saturday across New Zealand, but the spokesman was unable to confirm a connection between the two incidents.</p>

<p>In video woman name Kathleen Amina Deady was asked by a man standing next to her in line "Is this Halloween or something?" to which Deady responds asked why he would say that. The unidentified man answers her that "because I want to".&nbsp</p>

<p>He then continues saying that he knows she is Muslim and that he does not "like" her religion.</p>

<p>"It says to kill me and I don't want to be killed by you, how's that?",he then asks.</p>

<p>The man and Deady then engage in back and forth during which she draws a comparison between the Bible and The Quran after which the man refuses to respond to her. She also tells him that he is aware that he committing hate speech.&nbsp</p>

<p>After the comments, the supervisor &nbsprefuses to serve the man &nbspas he says that he is "disrupting public place and being very racist."</p>

<p>An off-camera male voice can also be heard yelling at the man and asking him to leave the place.</p>

<p>"We will both try to make it a very special moment for World Peace!" Trump said in a tweeted announcement.</p>

<p>The location and date of the summit -- the first ever between a sitting US president and a North Korean leader -- were revealed hours after three American prisoners were released by North Korea and arrived back in the United States.</p>

<p>Officials said that step removed the last major obstacle to the nuclear-focused summit, providing Trump with tangible evidence that his policy of engagement was reaping rewards.</p>

<p>The small Southeast Asian city state of Singapore has long acted as a bridge between the United States and China.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Trump-Kim summit has no precedent in US-North Korean relations. No US president has met with his North Korean counterpart while in office.</p>

<p>Despite the optimism of that moment, a deal to limit North Korea's nuclear program ultimately failed.</p>

<p>A decade on, the nuclear threat with North Korea has only grown, with the country believed to be on the cusp of developing intercontinental ballistic missile that could deliver a nuclear warhead to the continental United States.</p>

<p>Trump has vowed that he will not let that happen and has demanded that North Korea give up its nukes.</p>

<p>So far the regime has not indicated it is willing to do that. Hardliners are likely see possession of a nuke as the only guarantee against US-led efforts to topple the regime.</p>

<p>Pyongyang has yet to indicate its price for any move toward denuclearization and may yet demand US troops withdraw from South Korea as a quid pro quo.</p>

<p>That complex strategic puzzle will be the focus of the June 12 summit between two relatively new and untested leaders.</p>

<p>Twitter Inc urged its more than 330 million users to change their passwords after a glitch caused some to be stored in readable text on its internal computer system rather than disguised by a process known as "hashing".&nbsp;</p>

<p>The social network disclosed the issue in a blog post and series of Tweets on Thursday afternoon, saying it had resolved the problem and an internal investigation had found no indication passwords were stolen or misused by insiders. <p>“It has become open season for critics to say whatever they like about us based on speculation and hearsay,” said the acting CEO Alexander Tayler.</p>

<p>The release stated, in deep, ten facts associated with the company explaining&nbsp;in detail the nature of the work it deals in.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>"No laws were broken. Cambridge Analytica did not “hack” Facebook. A research company (GSR) licensed the data to us, which they legally obtained via a tool provided by Facebook. Cambridge Analytica did not use the GSR data or any derivatives of this data in the US Presidential Election. We used data from the RNC, data from public sources such as the voter registry. The claims that we used GSR data for the Trump campaign are simply untrue. Never received Twitter data from GSR: Cambridge Analytica confirms 

<p>A journalist who worked for a local Afghan language service of the BBC and also contributed to Reuters was shot dead while driving home in the eastern city of Khost on Monday, officials said.</p>

<p>Ahmad Shah, who worked for the BBC's Pashto language service as well as for Reuters, was killed in the Gulzar area on the outskirts of Khost, according to Talib Mangal, spokesman for Khost`s provincial governor.</p>

<p>Aleksandr Kogan, who created tools for Cambridge Analytica that allowed the political consultancy to psychologically profile and target voters, bought the data from the microblogging website in 2015, before the recent scandal came to light, The Sunday Telegraph reported.</p>

<p>Kogan had established Global Science Research (GSR), which was granted access to Twitter data. The academic said the information had only been used to create "brand reports" and "survey extender tools" and that he had not violated Twitter's policies.</p>

<p>Kogan bought tweets, usernames, photos, profile pictures and location data from Twitter over a five-month period between December 2014 and April 2015 through his GSR, the report said.</p>

<p>Earlier this month, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg had admitted making a "huge mistake" as personal data of up to 87 million users may have been improperly shared with Cambridge Analytica.</p>

<p>Zuckerberg, 33, had said that he accepted blame for the data leak, which has angered users, advertisers and lawmakers, while also saying he was still the right person to head the company he founded.</p>

<p>According to the report, while most tweets are public, Twitter charges companies and organisations to collect them en masse.</p>

<p>Large datasets are particularly useful for building a pattern of public opinion or receptiveness to certain topics and ideas, although Twitter bans companies from using the data to derive sensitive political information or matching it with personal information obtained elsewhere, it said.</p>

<p>"Twitter has also made the policy decision to off-board advertising from all accounts owned and operated by Cambridge Analytica. This decision is based on our determination that Cambridge Analytica operates using a business model that inherently conflicts with acceptable Twitter Ads business practices," a Twitter spokesperson said.</p>

<p>"Cambridge Analytica may remain an organic user on our platform, in accordance with the Twitter Rules," the spokesperson added.</p>

<p>A Cambridge Analytica spokesperson said the company used Twitter for political advertising but insisted that it had never "undertaken a project with GSR focusing on Twitter data and Cambridge Analytica has never received Twitter data from GSR".</p>

<p>It added that "Cambridge Analytica is a data-driven marketing agency and does not manipulate political views."</p>

<p>Kogan told the House of Commons Digital, Culture, Media & Sport Committee last week that his company, GSR, was created in 2014 purely to create datasets for SCL - the parent group of Cambridge Analytica.&nbsp</p>

<p>GSR developed a Facebook app that reportedly collected data from people who signed up to use the app as well as information from their Facebook friends, without the explicit approval of all involved. Kogan accused Cambridge Analytica's now-suspended CEO Alexander Nix of "total fabrication" when it came to denying the links between Cambridge Analytica and GSR's data.<br />
Social-media companies have come under intense scrutiny over reports that Facebook failed to protect the privacy of its users. Companies like Twitter tend to have access to less private information than Facebook.</p>

<p>About 270,000 people downloaded Kogan's personality-quiz app, which shared information on the people and their friends that then was improperly passed to Cambridge Analytica.<br />
Zuckerberg has testified in front of Congress about the misuse of data, and lawmakers have called on Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Google's India-born CEO Sundar Pichai to testify as well.</p>

<p>The research by Swansea University and The Sunday Times found about 6,500 automated accounts sent messages praising the opposition Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and his policies in the closing stages of the election.</p>

<p>They also attacked Prime Minister Theresa May for refusing to take part in televised election debates and criticized her for cutting police numbers in the wake of the Manchester bombing.</p>

<p>The study found nine out of 10 messages from the accounts about Labour backed the party. In contrast, nine out of 10 tweets about the Conservatives were hostile.</p>

<p>“These new revelations are extremely concerning,” the culture minister Matt Hancock said in a statement. “It is absolutely unacceptable for any nation to attempt to interfere in the democratic elections of another country.”</p>

<p>Tesla Inc shares fell more than 9 per cent last week following a downgrade by Moody's Investors Service, a probe by the National Transportation Safety Board of a recent fatal crash and concerns about Model 3 production.</p>

<p>Late on Tuesday, Moody’s Investors Service downgraded Tesla’s credit rating to B3 from B2. Moody’s said the ratings “reflect the significant shortfall in the production rate of the company’s Model 3 electric vehicle.” It also “faces liquidity pressures due to its large negative free cash flow and the pending maturities of convertible bonds.”</p>

<p>Moody’s said its negative outlook for Tesla “reflects the likelihood that Tesla will have to undertake a large, near-term capital raise in order to refund maturing obligations and avoid a liquidity shortfall.”</p>

<p>Twitter attributes this growth to a number of factors, including the addition of several new products like bookmarks and video timestamps. Efforts to create "new, curated timelines of tweets around breaking news events," are also helping to drive engagement, and eyeballs.</p>

<p>The company is also saying that it's seeing results in its information quality and safety work: euphemisms for a crackdown on malicious bot-and-troll activity.</p>

<p>Twitter's been dealing with several broader problems. It's struggled to get people to sign up, despite the attention President Donald Trump's no-holds barred tweets have drawn to the company.&nbsp</p>

<p>Ansari's family had filed a case of fraud against a man who took 45,000 from his family and promised to employ Ansari's brother in Dubai.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The police have solved his case and the fraudster has reportedly returned the amount.</p>

<p>DGP got to know about his fake handle after Gorakhpur Police contacted DGP to give an update on the case.</p>

<p>However the promise was not fulfilled following the incident, his family had filed a case in Gulaharia Bazaar police station but reportedly no action was taken.</p>

<p>Britain's health minister Jeremy Hunt threatened to impose new regulations on social media firms unless they did more to protect young people using their services.</p>

<p>Hunt said the groups were "turning a blind eye" to the effect social media had on children's well-being - an accusation that comes as Facebook and others face heightened scrutiny worldwide over their impact and influence.</p>

<p>Google's UK operation said it was committed to protecting children and had introduced features to help parents set screen time limits. There was no immediate comment from Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and other firms.</p>

<p>Hunt did not say what kind of regulations the government could impose, but gave the companies an April deadline to come up with measures to tackle cyber bullying and control the amount of time youngsters spent online.</p>

<p>"I am concerned that your companies seem content with a situation where thousands of users breach your own terms and conditions on the minimum user age," Hunt said in a letter sent to tech firms and reported in the Sunday Times.</p>

<p>"I fear that you are collectively turning a blind eye to a whole generation of children being exposed to the harmful emotional side effects of social media prematurely."</p>

<p>In an article in the same newspaper, Hunt said there had been a few welcome moves to improve children's online protection, but that the overall response had been "extremely limited" and that a voluntary approach might not be enough.&nbsp</p>

<p>"An industry that boasts some of the brightest minds and biggest budgets should have been able to rise to the challenge," he added.</p>

<p>Hunt's comments came alongside the announcement of a government review of the impact that sites like Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat have on children's mental health.</p>

<p>Britain has clashed with internet companies on several fronts in recent years over payment of taxes, action against the spread of fake news and extremist material, and their use of personal data.</p>
