Veteran golfer Tiger Woods'&nbsp;ex-girlfriend Erica Herman has dropped her appeal to nullify a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and also shrugged off sexual harassment allegations against him in the latest development on Thursday (Nov 16). It is to be noted that in&nbsp;a lawsuit submitted early this year, in May, Woods was under the pump with some big accusations levied against him.

It was claimed that Woods was having a sexual relationship with Herman while she worked for him at his South Florida restaurant, The Woods Jupiter. In addition, he&nbsp;forced&nbsp;her to sign a non-disclosure agreement or risk being fired.

Back then, Herman’s attorney stated in a filing: "A boss imposing different work conditions on his employee because of their sexual relationship is sexual harassment."

According&nbsp;to the new court documents filed in Florida’s Fourth District Court of Appeal, obtained by CNN, and dated November 10, Herman filed an official notice to disregard her appeal aimed at nullifying an NDA that she said required “confidential arbitration in all disputes between” her and the 47-year-old Woods.

The court document reads, "In dismissing this appeal, Erica Herman states that she was never a victim of sexual harassment or sexual abuse at the hands of Tiger Woods or any of his agents and it is her position that she never asserted a claim for such."

Saudi-backed LIV Golf removes Chief Events Officer Ron Cross in abrupt move

Tiger Woods is joining the PGA Tour's newly expanded policy board, the tour announced Tuesday, in a move aimed at cooling player tensions over secrecy surrounding merger talks with the Saudi backers of LIV Golf.

The 15-time major champion, a long-time supporter of the PGA Tour in its fight with upstart LIV, will have a direct say in approving any eventual deal with the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), the framework of which was unveiled in June to the shock of tour players.

"I'm honored to represent the players of the PGA Tour," Woods said in a statement from the tour.&nbsp;

"This is a critical point for the tour, and the players will do their best to make certain that any changes that are made in tour operations are in the best interest of all tour stakeholders, including fans, sponsors and players."

PGA commissioner Jay Monahan, under fire from many players over handling of the LIV talks since he made the announcement, said future rule changes will require the involvement and approval of the six player directors from the board, including Woods and Rory McIlroy.

That gives player representatives an upper hand on the 11-member board and the power in all decisions regarding any final agreement with the Saudis.

The special advisor to the player directors, Colin Neville, will be fully aware of the state of talks on the "framework agreement" with LIV, which the board must approve by the end of the year in order for the controversial merger to occur.

"The players thank commissioner Monahan for agreeing to address our concerns and we look forward to being at the table with him to make the right decisions for the future of the game that we all love," Woods said.

"He has my confidence moving forward with these changes."

The Washington Post reported that 41 PGA Tour players -- including stars McIlroy, Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler -- sent Monahan a letter on Monday asking Woods be added to the policy board and the tour's governance structure be reviewed immediately.

PGA player Charley Hoffman said Woods pushed for a place among the decision makers and Monahan had little choice than to agree.

"Tiger has done more for golf than arguably anybody," Hoffman said. "To have him sit in those meetings now is very powerful and I think his voice will be listened to."

And, he added, it will begin rebuilding the trust between Monahan and players.

"It's a start. This is the best move we've made in the past few months," he said. "It's Tiger coming up with it and I think he wants to be part of the PGA Tour going forward."

Woods, 47, has been limited in his ability to play in recent years by severe leg injuries suffered in a 2021 car crash.

Monahan said having the leadership and voice of Woods is "welcomed and impactful" as he tries to complete the PGA-LIV deal.

"I'm committed to taking the necessary steps to restore any lost trust or confidence that occurred as a result of the surprise announcement of our framework agreement," Monahan said.

"Any agreement we reach must be shaped by our members' input and approval earned through our player directors."

<h2>'Got to keep him busy'</h2>

Players at this week's PGA Tour event in Greensboro, North Carolina, supported the move.

That included two-time major winner Justin Thomas, a long-time friend of Woods, who has invoked legends Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer in backing the PGA Tour.

"It's important to him," Thomas said. "When Arnold and Jack passed the torch to him, that's not something he takes lightly.

"I don't think there's anybody else I would want speaking on my behalf and the rest of the guys."

Thomas warned, however, that it would likely take more than Woods to soothe players who felt betrayed by Monahan.

"You're never going to make everybody happy," Thomas said. "It's about the majority and what's best for the entire PGA Tour. I'd like to think and hope the membership understands that's what Tiger has in mind, especially with him clearly not playing as much.

"We've got to keep him busy somehow. He can't just sit on the couch and do nothing."

The 47-year-old 15-time major champion -- which includes three US Open crowns -- underwent further surgery in April on his ankle, which was severely injured in a car accident in 2021.

The US Open, the third of the four majors, runs June 15-18 at the Los Angeles Country Club's North Course.&nbsp;

Woods most recently competed at the Masters in April but he withdrew early in the third round and it was then decided that he would undergo another operation.

"Tiger Woods, who won this championship in 2000, 2002 and 2008, has withdrawn as an exempt player while still recovering from his recent surgery," read the statement from organisers.

Woods battled to make the cut at Augusta National but was visibly limping at times on the storied course where he has won five times.

Woods has competed in just five tournaments since his February 2021 car crash near Los Angeles, completing 72 holes only twice.

He played four rounds in his surprise return to golf at last year's Masters and at the Genesis Invitational PGA Tour event at Riviera Country Club in February.

He reiterated at Riviera that his competitive schedule would be extremely limited, saying he hoped to play in all four majors and perhaps "a couple" of other events.

At Augusta he acknowledged that he wonders each time he plays the Masters if it will be his last time there.

"I don't know how many more I have in me," he said, adding that he felt "very lucky" to still have his right leg.

"It has been tough and will always be tough. The ability and endurance of what my leg will do going forward will never be the same. That's why I can't prepare and play as many tournaments as I like.

"But that's my future and I'm OK with that."

The judge wrote that Herman could have provided factual specificity for any claim relating to sexual assault or sexual harassment, but "she has not done so,” according to the newspaper.

A lawyer for Herman could not be immediately reached, while an agent for Woods did not respond to an email request for comment outside regular business hours.

Tiger Woods was not on the full field list for next week's PGA Championship, the golf major's organisers said on Wednesday (May 10), as the 15-times major champion continues to recover from an ankle surgery.

Woods, who withdrew from the Masters midway through last month's tournament due to injury, underwent fusion surgery on a bone in his ankle to address his post-traumatic arthritis from a previous talus bone fracture.

The 47-year-old has limited his participation in events following a 2021 car crash, which required his leg to be rebuilt. He has also had multiple knee and back operations.

The PGA Championship, the year's second major, takes place from May 18-21 in Rochester, New York. Woods has won the tournament four times with his last victory coming in 2007.

The next major after the PGA Championship is the U.S. Open from June 15-18.

According to the document filed in the Florida court, Herman was allegedly driven to the airport and then was asked to speak to Woods' attorney last year. Herman has alleged that she was also forcefully driven for a week’s gateway to Bahamas under a scheme.

Norway's Viktor Hovland set the early pace at the 87th Masters on Thursday, reaching the turn at five-under par while five-time champion Tiger Woods toiled with three early bogeys.

Hovland got off to a flying start at Augusta National with an eagle on the par-5 second hole, where he followed up a brilliant iron shot with a 25-foot putt, and then the 25-year-old went three strokes clear of the field when he birdied the ninth.

The 39-year-old South Korean-born American was is of 18 players from the Saudi-backed LIV Golf League who qualified for the Masters.

LIV Golf is locked in bitter legal battles with the established PGA Tour.

This Masters is the first time that the top-ranked players from the PGA Tour and LIV Golf are in the same field at Augusta.

The PGA Tour has banned LIV players, with their US court fight set to begin early next year.

Just hours before the start, a tribunal in London ruled against LIV players in their dispute with the DP World Tour, formerly the European Tour.

The quest for the Green Jacket is underway. The first Golfing Major of the year began earlier on Thursday at the Augusta National Golf Club. Scottie Scheffler is bidding for back-to-back titles and that will make him just the fourth man to defend a Masters title. Rory McIlroy has not won a Major since 2014 and needs to win at Augusta to complete the Grand Slam. Jon Rahm had three wins at the start of the year and the three players have made the battle for the No. 1 ranking a spectacle. Five-time winner Tiger Woods is competing this week as well in what is just his second start of the year. His great rival Phil Mickelson is making a 30th start at Augusta and remains confident about adding to the three titles he has won previously. There are 18 LIV players in the field as well and the expected cold vibes between players on both sides of the Golfing divide turned out to be a non-starter. A LIV player winning on Sunday will be a massive public relations coup for the new league. We have seen that from the days of the Great Triumvirate – British golfers Harry Vardon, John Henry Taylor, and James Braid – who dominated the Open Championship and combined to win it 16 times between 1894 and 1914.

A better-known ‘Big Three’ was that of Masters founder and the greatest amateur to have ever played the game, Bobby Jones, Walter Hagen, and Gene Sarazen in the 1920s.

Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Gary Player in the 1960s and 70s were, without doubt, the greatest ever Big Three of all-time. They passed on the mantle to Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh, and Phil Mickelson in early 2000s.

If the last couple of years are any indication, golf is on the verge of getting its new Big Three – defending Masters champion Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and Jon Rahm.

Their CVs may still not look as impressive as some of the above-mentioned gentlemen, but it is a work in progress. After all, Scheffler is just 26 years old, Rahm is 28 and while McIlroy may have been around forever, he is only 33.

On the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR), the trio is now No1, 2, and 3, with the third-ranked Rahm enjoying nearly a two-point advantage (that’s a lot in OWGR calculations) over the fourth-ranked Patrick Cantlay. Very rarely have the top-three separated themselves from the chasing pack in such a fashion.

Since the beginning of 2022, they have played a combined 89 tournaments, won 16 titles, finished second eight times, and have recorded a total of 52 top-10s.

In the first seven weeks of 2023, Rahm won three titles on the PGA Tour, while Scheffler has won twice in the last seven weeks. McIlroy, who is looking for an elusive Green Jacket to complete his career grand slam, started the year with a win in the Hero Dubai Desert Classic and looked in great touch in beating Scheffler and finishing third in the WGC-Dell Match Play.

“I just think it is down to consistency – you had Jon beating up everybody starting the year, and I had a little run there with Phoenix and the Players and Rory is up there like he seemingly always is,” said Scheffler, who had shown hot form early last year and won four titles, including the Masters, in six starts.

McIlroy felt that the intense competition between the three was only making them better.

“It just seems like every week that we’re playing, one of us three has got a chance to win that tournament. And that’s the level we all want to be at,” said McIlroy.

“I think that for me, seeing those two guys consistently performing at that level just pushes me to want to be better. A lot of that is just good, healthy competition, and hopefully we’ll continue to elevate ourselves through that competition.”

Rahm acknowledged they have been dominant forces in golf the past year, but it would be too early to bracket them into a ‘Big Three’ and compare them to some of the other threesomes that have illuminated the sport over the years.

“I would say you can call us that if we can do it for at least five-plus years like many of those players did. Even while Tiger was on his run in the 2000s, Phil and Vijay still managed to win 45 and 20-plus times themselves in that time frame,” countered the Spaniard.

“So, I think for us to be compared to something like that, we have a very long way to go. This could be the start, but still a long way to go.”

Rahm may have his reasons, but it’s rare for top three players in the world heading into a major championship in such sublime form. Drama and the Masters have always gone hand in hand, but the new ‘Big Three’ can just ramp everything up several notches this year.

Golf's New Big Three Ready For Masters Duel

Tiger Woods's ex-girlfriend has filed a lawsuit seeking to be released from a nondisclosure agreement she says the golf superstar made her sign at the start of their relationship in 2017, court filings showed Wednesday. Erica Herman, who lived with the 15-time major winner at his Florida mansion until late 2022, filed the request in the Circuit Court of the 19th Judicial Circuit in Martin County, Florida.

According to court records seen by AFP, Herman's attorneys are arguing that the NDA she was required to sign is "invalid and unenforceable" under US federal legislation known as the Speak Out Act. The law, which became effective last year in the wake of the MeToo movement, makes nondisclosure agreements unenforceable in cases involving sexual assault and harassment.

Herman's case filings do not go into further details and there are no specific allegations against Woods. But in response to a question on the court filing which reads "Does this case involve allegations of sexual abuse?" Herman's attorneys have checked the box marked "Yes".

Herman's bid to waive her NDA agreement marks an escalation of a legal dispute with Woods which began last October, but which has gone largely unreported in the US media. In court filings also seen by AFP, Herman's lawyers have sued the Jupiter Island Irrevocable Homestead Trust, which is the legal entity that owns Woods's home in Florida. Herman's suit alleges that "agents" for Woods duped her into leaving the mansion last year by telling her to prepare for a vacation.

"By trickery, agents of the defendant (Woods) convinced the plaintiff (Herman) to pack a suitcase for a short vacation and, when she arrived at the airport, they told her she had been locked out of her residence," the court filing said.

Herman's lawyers claim Woods is in violation of an "oral tenancy agreement" allowing her to live in the mansion -- reportedly worth $54 million -- and are suing for damages. The legal dispute threatens to drag Woods' private life into the media spotlight once again, 14 years after the sex scandal which almost destroyed his career and shocked the sporting world.

He returned to play in the PGA Championship in May, but withdrew after 54 holes following a third round 79. Woods played again at the British Open at St. Andrews, where he missed the cut after an emotional second round at the spiritual home of golf.

Woods further added, "The onus is now on the majors to set their qualifying criteria. We want the best players in golf to play against each other but at the moment we can't identify that. The world rankings system is flawed and at the moment there are many moving pieces."&nbsp; "We will come to a resolution some way or another and hopefully it is a positive one for all parties involved," the veteran concluded.&nbsp;

Earlier, on Tuesday (November 29), Woods didn't mince his words while talking about LIV CEO Greg Norman during a&nbsp;press conference ahead of the Hero World Challenge.

“As Rory said, I think Greg’s got to leave and then we can eventually, hopefully, have a stay between the two lawsuits and figure something out. But why would you change anything if you’ve got a lawsuit against you? They sued us first. I see that there’s an opportunity out there if both organisations put a stay on their litigation but that’s the problem, they’ve got to put a stay on it."

“I think it has to start with leadership on their side. Understanding that what is happening right now is not the best fit or future for the whole game of golf. Now, what is the best way for our game to grow? It’s not this way. You need to have the two bodies come together. If one side has so much animosity, someone trying to destroy our tour, then how do you work with that?", Woods pointed out.

While the LIV Golf-PGA Tour tussle is far from over, looks like it has also severely hit the equation between Woods and Norman. At present, the former remains firm on his stance that both LIV Golf and PGA Tour cannot exist simultaneously.&nbsp;
