Thailand is grappling with one of its deadliest school shootings in years after a 14-year-old student opened fire at a school in Nonthaburi province near Bangkok. CCTV footage reportedly shows the teenager firing at classmates at Deepsin Nonthaburi School.

At least nine people have been killed, including school staff and a 12-year-old girl, while more than 30 people were injured. The teenager later died after shooting himself. Authorities are also investigating reports that he allegedly killed his grandparents before going to the school.

Police are investigating how the teenager accessed a registered handgun belonging to his grandfather, while a large quantity of ammunition was reportedly found in his school bag. Investigators are examining his online activity, relationships, possible bullying and reports that he had researched an American school shooting case.

Judge Punya Udchachon said&nbsp;Thavisin had violated the constitution by appointing a lawyer to the cabinet who had previously served prison time. The court voted five to four to remove Srettha, who came to power last year.&nbsp;

Notably,&nbsp;Srettha appointed&nbsp;Pichit Chuenban as a Minister of the Prime Minister's Office during a cabinet reshuffle in April, earlier this year.&nbsp;

Pichit served six months in jail in 2008 on contempt of court charges after he allegedly bribed a judge with $55,000 in cash, involving former PM Thaksin Shinawatra.&nbsp;&nbsp;

A month after Pichit's appointment, a group of 40 military-appointed&nbsp;former senators filed the case against Srettha, hoping to remove him from office.

Srettha has denied any wrongdoing in the case, adding that Pichit had resigned from the post and was only appointed in the first place by following proper procedures.&nbsp;

The court dismissed Srettha's claims stating that although Pichit had served a jail sentence, his behaviour, as ruled by the Supreme Court, remained dishonest.&nbsp;

The cabinet will not be dissolved instantly, albeit it will remain in place on a caretaker basis until the Thai Parliament approves a new PM.&nbsp;

The Ruling Pheu Thai-led coalition will have to nominate a new candidate which will be then voted on by the 500-seat parliament. However, there is no time limit for the Parliament to choose&nbsp;Srettha's replacement which puts the country's future in jeopardy.&nbsp;

Notably, the decision comes a week after the same court ordered the kingdom's most popular political party to be disbanded. The Move Forward Party (MFP) that won the elections in 2023 by securing the most seats was dissolved, following the Election Commission's (EC) request.

Born to an army Colonel, Prayut studied at Armed Forces Academies Preparatory School and graduated from the Command and General Staff College Class&nbsp;63 in 1985. This was the year when Prayut began his military career as a major. He was once a royal guard under Prime Minister Prem Tinsulanonda in 1987. Three years later, he served in the 21st Infantry regiment, which is granted Royal Guard status as the Queen’s Guards.&nbsp;

It was in 2010 that he succeeded Anupong Paochinda as commander-in-chief. His promotion to this post in such a short time raised many eyebrows, and it was seen as the influence of the Queen’s Guards.&nbsp;

During the political crisis that began in November 2013, and involved protests against the caretaker government of Yingluck, Prayut claimed that the army was neutral and would not launch a coup. However, in May 2014, Prayut launched a military coup against the government and assumed control of the country as dictator and leader of the National Council for Peace and Order, a military junta.

Since then, Prayut has been leading an authoritarian regime in Thailand. Later, he also issued an interim constitution granting him absolute powers and giving himself amnesty for staging the coup. In August 2014, an unelected military-dominated national legislature appointed him as Prime Minister.

Protestors outside Thailand's parliament held their own version of a no-confidence debate against Premier Prayut Chan-O-Cha Friday night, as inside, opposition MPs rained a torrent of criticism upon his administration.

Friday marked the final day of a four-day no-confidence debate against former coup leader Prayut and his cabinet, and MPs will vote Saturday on their fate.

Prayut -- whose coalition government holds a majority -- is expected to survive the vote, but the proceedings could set off internal struggles within his party.

Activists from Thailand's youth-led pro-democracy movement decided to set up their own debate right by the parliament's entrance, hoisting portraits of Prayut and his ministers up on a truck.

Rally organisers set up a projection screen which played out the events going on inside the building.

"The opposition MPs weren't able to speak about everything in the parliament," said an 18-year-old protester who would only give his name as Petch.

"That's why we need to double down the efforts to speak about how bad the government has been doing."

Hundreds of protesters young and old brought pots and pans to create a cacophony of dissent -- a tactic borrowed from neighbouring Myanmar where an anti-coup movement is agitating against a military junta.

Dozens of riot police stood watch nearby, with a water cannon truck at the ready.

A woman wore a cauldron as a hat, with the words "Abolish 112" scrawled on it -- in reference to Thailand's draconian lese majeste law which shields the monarchy from criticism.

So far, more than 50 activists have been charged under the law since the movement kicked off in mid-July, though only four prominent leaders have been detained.

"We need to come out so that the key activists being detained in jail did not do everything in vain," said 13-year-old Iam.

Besides demanding royal reforms -- once a taboo subject which has been pushed into public attention by the movement -- the protesters are also calling for the resignation of Prayut.

The former army general led a 2014 coup, and renewed his lease on power after elections in 2019 that were governed under a military-scripted constitution.

This angered the much-criticised Prime Minister who said,&nbsp;“The government must use the emergency decree. We have to proceed because the situation became violent … It is being used for 30 days, or less if the situation eases.”

He further warned the locals to be vary of their actions saying, "Just wait and see … If you do wrong, we will use the law."

The government has also blocked the petition website 'Change.org' after a petition again st the King started gaining traction on the internet.

Parliamentary opposition parties also raised their concerns against&nbsp;the emergency measures. “Pheu Thai Party calls on General Prayuth Chan-ocha and the state officials to lift the emergency decree and to stop intimidating the people in all manners and to release those who were arrested immediately,” said the party, which has the most seats in parliament.

Former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra tested positive for coronavirus and was treated in hospital last month but has since recovered, a source close to the exiled billionaire told AFP on Saturday.

The wife of jailed Bahraini footballer Hakeem Al Araibi pleaded with Thailand's prime minister on Wednesday to ensure he is not extradited to his native country, saying he faces torture there and should be sent back to asylum in Australia.

"He would go back to face imprisonment, torture and possible death. Please help my husband. I don't want to lose him," Araibi's wife wrote on Wednesday in an open letter to Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha.

"I am terrified that the final decision to deport him will take place within the next few days," she said in the letter, which was obtained from Araibi's lawyer.

Lawyer Nadthasiri Bergman said the wife has asked for her name not to be published out of fear of her safety.

Araibi, who fled Bahrain in 2014 and was later granted asylum in Australia, was arrested in Bangkok in November on an Interpol notice issued at Bahrain's request.

He was convicted of vandalising a police station in Bahrain and was sentenced to 10 years in prison in absentia. He denies wrongdoing, saying he was playing in a televised football match at the time of the alleged vandalism.

Human rights groups say Bahraini authorities tortured Araibi because of his brother's political activities during the Arab Spring uprising in 2011. Bahraini authorities deny allegations of torture.

Thai government officials were not immediately available for comment on Wednesday but Prayuth told reporters on Tuesday Araibi's case was a matter for Thailand's courts.

He acknowledged the concerns of Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, who wrote to Prayuth this week urging that Araibi not be extradited, but also said Thailand had good relations with Bahrain.

"We are a good friends with everyone. We have to figure out the solution. I know that everybody is concerned about this," Prayuth said.

Araibi has also been a vocal critic of the president of the Asian Football Confederation, Sheikh Salman Bin Ebrahim al-Khalifa, who is a cousin of the Bahraini king.

Sheikh Salman has recused himself from the Araibi case and the AFC joined soccer's world governing body FIFA this week in urging Thailand to allow Araibi to return to Australia.
