Alphabet, which has not set a goal to cut emissions, and Apple, which set a broader target, are slowly crawling back towards 2019 levels, T&amp;E said.

The two ranked among the worst performers, each having managed corporate travel emissions reductions of just 23 per cent and 31 per cent, respectively, in 2023.

"How can (Google chief) Sundar Pichai say that Google is progressing to a sustainable future when its travel emissions are going in the wrong direction?" said Denise Auclair, corporate travel manager at T&amp;E.

Microsoft, IBM, and SAP are also on the list even though they had significant cuts, because they are among the companies that are flying the most without having set any reduction goals, T&amp;E said.

"Tech companies have claimed to be climate leaders for a long time, and many have substantially reduced their business travel emissions, but if they want to be credible, they must set reduction targets," Auclair added.

Reached for comment on its performance, Apple said it had already reduced its greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) emissions by more than 55 per cent since 2015 as part of its goal to be carbon-neutral by 2030.

"We're achieving this by making reductions across our entire carbon footprint — including business travel — and implementing significant cuts to the largest sources of our emissions," a spokesperson for Apple told Reuters.

Other firms were not immediately available for comment.

"Investors have assumed FY24 is a washout and shifted focus to FY25, hoping for a rebound," Reuters quoted the analysts as saying. They noted that this shift in focus has contributed to the Nifty IT index outperforming the broader Nifty 50 over the past three months.

In the upcoming quarterly earnings reports, the key areas of interest will be deal signings and the distinction between new deals and renewals. This analysis will help assess the potential for growth in fiscal 2025.

In a statement, the company said, "We support discussions on measures to combat the phenomenon of misinformation. All Brazilians have the right to be part of this conversation, and as such, we are committed to communicating our concerns about Bill 2630 publicly and transparently."

The purpose of this, according to the company, is to guarantee that the increase in the share of "Googlers" holding senior positions corresponds to the organisation's expansion.

The records also showed that Zhejiang Media Group has also appointed Jin Jun, the general manager of one of its subsidiaries, to the board of the Alibaba unit.&nbsp;

Dan Ives, a Wedbush analyst in a note to investors said that the decline in earnings was mostly caused due to fluctuating currency exchange rates and the closure of personal computer manufacturing in China. Ives states, “The most important core business; cloud and commercial bookings were relatively rock solid despite fears.” He further added, “The core DNA of the Microsoft growth story is cloud and core Azure growth which was healthy this quarter and appears to have momentum into 2023 despite economic headwinds."

Microsoft’s earnings suffer as computer sales decline

As per a lawsuit filed in federal court in San Francisco, the app developers accused Alphabets Inc’s Google that it was closing the app ecosystem and redirected many payments through its Google Pay billing system with a default service fee of 30 per cent using agreements with smartphones manufactures, revenue sharing agreements and technical barriers, reported by Reuters.&nbsp;

The tech firm stated in a blog post that as a part of the proposed settlement, it would invest $90 million fund&nbsp;to assist the app developers that earned $2 million or less in yearly revenue form 2016-2022. The company in the blog post said, “A vast majority of US developers who earned revenue through Google Play will be eligible to receive money from this fund, if they choose.”

The new restrictions mean US firms will need special approval to export products intended for use by state-owned Fujian Jinhua Integrated Circuit Company, Ltd., according to a statement.

The firm is nearing completion of substantial production capacity for dynamic random access memory (DRAM) integrated circuits, likely to be based on US-technology.

However, that production "threatens the long term economic viability of US suppliers of these essential components of US military systems," the Commerce Department said.

"When a foreign company engages in activity contrary to our national security interests, we will take strong action to protect our national security," Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said in a statement.

He said the export restrictions would limit Jinhua's "ability to threaten the supply chain for essential components in our military systems."

China established Jinhua in February 2016 in a bid to make its own home-produced chips, with the firm investing 37 billion yuan ($5.6 billion) that year to build a production line.

Semiconductors are among China's biggest imports, rivaling oil, and have become a stark reminder of its dependence on US technology.

Earlier this year, Washington banned Chinese telecom and smartphone giant ZTE from purchasing crucial US components for seven years, threatening its survival, as punishment for breaking US export controls.
