The fourth season of multiple Emmy award-winning HBO satirical drama 'Succession' has begun filming, as per The Hollywood Reporter. The premium cable network also released a logline for the next season that gives a hint as to things to come.

As the Critics Choice Awards took place early morning (Indian time), Sarah Snook gave it a miss. She had to pick up her Best Supporting Actress for the HBO show 'Succession' but couldn't attend because of COVID-19.

The actress had recebtly tested positive for Covid and is currently recovering. Her cast mate Kieran Culkin, however, informed media that she is felling fine. He said,&nbsp;“She just won an award, she’s fine."

Added costar Brian Cox jokingly, “F**k Covid, she could have got here.”&nbsp;

Emmy-winning actor Brian Cox, widely known for his role as Logan Roy in the HBO series `Succession`, recently revealed the reason he was never seen in major franchises such as `Game of Thrones` and `Pirates of the Caribbean`. 
 
The actor revealed the reason in his new memoir `Putting the Rabbit in the Hat`, reported Variety. Cox turned down the role of King Robert Baratheon in the first season of `GOT`. Fellow UK actor Mark Addy was cast in the role."I`m often asked if I was offered a role in `Game of Thrones` -- reason being that every other bugger was -- and the answer is, yes, I was supposed to be a king called Robert Baratheon, who apparently died when he was gored by a boar in the first season," Cox wrote in the memoir."I know very little about `Game of Thrones` so I can`t tell you whether or not he was an important character, and I`m not going to Google it just in case he was, because I turned it down," he added. 
 
Revealing the reason behind rejecting the role, he wrote, "Why? Well, `Game of Thrones` went on to be a huge success and everybody involved earned an absolute fortune, of course. But when it was originally offered the money was not all that great, shall we say."He added, "Plus I was going to be killed off fairly early on, so I wouldn`t have had any of the benefits of the long-term effects of a successful series where your wages go up with each passing season. So I passed on it, and Mark Addy was gored by the boar instead."Cox also shared, "I turned my nose up at the part of the Governor in the `Pirates of the Caribbean franchise,` a role that was eventually played by Jonathan Pryce."A role in Disney`s `Pirates` movies would`ve given Cox his second franchise after starring as William Stryker in `X2: X-Men United`. 
 
Cox said, "The guy who directed `Pirates` was Gore Verbinski, with whom I made `The Ring,` and he`s a lovely chap but I think I blotted my copybook by turning down the Governor. It would have been a money-spinner, but of all the parts in that film, it was the most thankless, plus I would have ended up doing it for film after film and missed out on all the other nice things I`ve done." 
 
However, there was one more reason why Cox decided to pass on the franchise -- namely, his would-be costar, Johnny Depp."Another thing with `Pirates of the Caribbean` is that it`s very much the `Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow` show, and Depp, personable though I`m sure he is, is so overblown, so overrated," Cox said.

The murderous antics of &nbsp;the &nbsp;Roy family is &nbsp;unmistakably galvanic. The Roys mean &nbsp;business.Their brusque brutality &nbsp;in their self serving world is a &nbsp;delightful &nbsp;antidote to all that &nbsp;we have heard seen and experience in &nbsp;our &nbsp;familiar family zone.

The Roys are very Mughal in their determination to usurp the throne even if it &nbsp;amounts to &nbsp;a &nbsp;blizzard &nbsp;of bloodspill. Miraculously no one &nbsp;gets &nbsp;killed, although we hear a &nbsp;lot of talk of power-slaying. Season 3 is more murderously Machiavellian than the &nbsp;other two seasons. It starts with the &nbsp;Roy son Kendall(Jeremy &nbsp;Strong) &nbsp;publicly taking down his all-powerful father Logan Roy(Brian Cox) from the business empire’s leadership.

The series is handsomely mounted. The family is shown to be lavish in their lifestyle as well as their usurping aspirations.

For a &nbsp;large &nbsp;part the new &nbsp;season is &nbsp;about &nbsp;Logan’s &nbsp;heirs, besides &nbsp;Kendal, younger son &nbsp;Roman(Kieran &nbsp;Culkin) and &nbsp;daughter Shiv(Sarah Snook) &nbsp;trying to grab power. Their serpentine maneouvres are not at all shocking to us.We know &nbsp;enough &nbsp;about &nbsp;the power games &nbsp;that &nbsp;go on &nbsp;in business families &nbsp;to know that this family will stop &nbsp;at nothing to gain power.

Admirably the plot is restrained about the &nbsp;limits of avarice. Every character no matter how&nbsp;unscrupulously&nbsp;avaricious &nbsp;retains &nbsp;a certain core of humanism.And that to me is the series’ redemptive &nbsp;defining core. That apart, the series is directed &nbsp;with a lot &nbsp;of &nbsp;long shots &nbsp;and &nbsp;handheld cameras &nbsp;capturing the sweaty anxiety &nbsp;of a family on the brink.

What I &nbsp;sorely miss in this season &nbsp;is &nbsp;emotional equilibrium. The &nbsp;actors &nbsp;seem &nbsp;to have been told to bury &nbsp;their &nbsp;characters’ &nbsp;feelings in a rubble of &nbsp;opportunism. Some of &nbsp;the performances, such as &nbsp;Kieran Culkin as &nbsp;the youngest &nbsp;Roy heir, and &nbsp;Matthew Macfadyen(he reminds &nbsp;of the &nbsp;tainted &nbsp;but brilliant Kevin Spacey) &nbsp;as &nbsp;Shiv’s husband, &nbsp; are &nbsp;brazenly over-the-top, as though &nbsp;to remind us that the wages &nbsp;of &nbsp;sin are hyper-theatrical acting.

&nbsp;The &nbsp;series &nbsp;in this season, manages to maintain a &nbsp;controlled momentum &nbsp;right till the end. 'Succession' in &nbsp;Season 3 justifies its existence even though most &nbsp;of the characters are hellbent on discrediting themselves, none more so &nbsp;than Brian Cox’s Logan who is a foul-mouthed ruthless reprehensible business tycoon. Quite the &nbsp;role model for &nbsp;the &nbsp;young generation of &nbsp;ambitious &nbsp;wannabe &nbsp;tycoons.

The Jesse Armstrong created show got an extension after receiving a massive response for Season 3. The third season premiered on October 17.&nbsp; 
 
The first episode of Season 3 drew a series-high viewership of 1.4 million viewers across HBO's platforms that night. 
As per the network, that was the best premiere-night ratings of any HBO series since the launch of HBO Max in May 2020, though they claim that these will only grow over time. 
 
The viewership of its second season was an average of 5 million and it also won seven Emmys, including the top prize for outstanding drama. 
 
In Season 3 of 'Succession', the members of the Roy family are engaged in a vicious fight for control of Waystar Royco, after Kendall (Jeremy Strong) publicly stabbed his CEO father, Logan (Brian Cox), in the back in an attempted coup. 
 
Since then, Kendall has been trying to shore up any power he may be able to attain, but it remains to be answered if the rash Kendall is once again playing checkers to Logan's chess. 
 
In an interview with Variety before the third season premiered, Armstrong talked about how long the show might last. "I don't want to say. All I know is there`s a promise in the `Succession` title, and it can`t go on forever," he said when asked whether he knows how many more seasons there might be. 
 
Armstrong has ideas what will happen in the series finale, whenever it is. "It`s important for me, I think, as a showrunner to have a pitch for my fellow collaborators, especially the writers," he said, adding, "But it`s not immutable. That`s up for discussion. “There’s a trying to Greg that’s really endearing and fun for me to play,” Braun said. “A trying and usually failing — but occasionally not, and it keeps working, slowly working, for him.”

“I would see him every other weekend, and he would put me in a chair and we would do these Meisner repetition exercises together,” Braun said. “They were so frustrating. I hated them. A father and son in a repetition battle — it’s actually crazy to think of that.”

The two were cast together in a short film, and then Braun started getting high-profile TV and movie roles alongside actors like John Larroquette and James Coburn. By his teens he was landing movies like the Disney superhero comedy “Sky High,” and though he enrolled at Occidental College with plans of being a math major, he dropped out after two years, deciding that his future was in performance.

“There’s all these things about ‘boost the bid’ that I didn’t understand how that fit in,” Braun recalled. “Is this a business show?” But when he read one of his first scenes as the interloping, underqualified Gregory Hirsch, that had him wearing a dog costume at a theme park and throwing up through its eye holes, Braun said, “I understood my piece of it.”

The character was “the guy in the room that doesn’t get it, who &lt;em&gt;wants&lt;/em&gt; to get it, and wants to be there,” he said. “It was pretty easy to get into Greg’s, you know, thought patterns.”

When Braun arrived to audition with the “Succession” creator Jesse Armstrong and Adam McKay, an executive producer who directed the pilot episode, he was an immediate standout.

“His height is just disarming, right away,” said McKay, the Academy Award-winning screenwriter and filmmaker. “I’m 6-foot-5, so usually when I meet people that are taller than me, they’re athletes. You’re going to take stuff which is going to lie there, inert, and you’re going to make it funny. Occasionally, you think, oh, he’s going to eat this up — I want to serve this to him on a silver platter because he’s going to love it.”

Braun has feasted on scenes like Greg’s inarticulate Senate testimony, for which the actor was handed several pages of dialogue the night before filming. “Jesse was like, instead of coming back in a few weeks, would you be game for doing this tomorrow?” Braun recalled. “I was like, put me in — if I get even 80% of this scene, it’ll work.”
