A spokesperson for Uber, Noah Edwardsen, said in a statement that cancellations of Uber One can be easily done within the app and most cancellations take less than 20 seconds. The FTC has not commented on the investigation.

The FTC enforces consumer protection laws and has recently sued companies like Amazon and Adobe for allegedly making it difficult to cancel subscriptions.

The agency often seeks settlements with monetary penalties because winning fines in court can be challenging. The FTC recently passed a rule requiring businesses to simplify subscription cancellation processes, but this rule is currently being contested in court.

As reported by Bloomberg, enforcement agencies sometimes try to finalise the investigations before a new administration begins.

In this case, the FTC reportedly sent Uber a proposed settlement just days after the November election. Uber's lawyers said the FTC's settlement offer demanded excessive money and that the agency was rushing the negotiations before the new president's inauguration.

Uber's attorneys also claimed that the staff of the FTC rejected the counteroffer and accused them of trying to close the case before the change in administration.

Holyoak, a Republican commissioner at the FTC, complained about the charges and asked the FTC staff to provide her with information on all cases that have reached the final stages.

Holyoak is reported to be one of three candidates being considered for the FTC Chair position along with another Republican commissioner and multiple outside candidates. The new president has not yet nominated another head for FTC.

He announced on a broadcast channel on Instagram that a Meta Quest+ subscription will be available from Monday at USD 7.99 per month. If a subscriber wishes to avail annual subscription, he/she will have to pay an&nbsp;annual fee of USD 59.99.

The subscription is for Quest 2, Pro and soon-to-be-launched Quest 3 headsets.&nbsp;

Apple has recently launched its first augmented reality headset and made a foray into the market segment. The Apple Vision Pro has been priced at USD 3499. Apple's headset is three times the cost of the costliest headset from Meta.

Subcribers will be able to get a verification badge on their Facebook and Instagram profiles, something that's in similar vein as Elon Musk-owned Twitter.

Amazon announced on Tuesday that it is expanding its foray into the healthcare industry by providing a $5 monthly subscription plan for its US prime members.

That will cover a variety of generic medications and their doorstep delivery under its healthcare service, 'RxPass'.

Vin Gupta, Amazon Pharmacy's chief medical officer, told Reuters that the company's service would cover more than 50 medicines which treat over 80 chronic diseases, including high blood pressure, anxiety, diabetes, and male pattern baldness.

But the online retail firm made clear that customers cannot join Amazon Pharmacy's RxPass service if they are enrolled in Medicare, Medicaid, or any other government health programme.

John Love, the vice president of Amazon Pharmacy, said a prime member would save $100 annually with RxPass.

Love also said, " We believe a lot of Americans, particularly those that suffer from a chronic illness, are going to benefit from just Amazon's participation in pharmacy, the ability to get high-quality experience delivered to your door at low cost."

In the majority of US states, Amazon Prime members can sign up for the service starting Tuesday.
