Srinagar&nbsp;recorded a maximum temperature of 35.6 degrees Celsius&nbsp;which is six degrees Celsius above normal. It is the highest July temperature recorded in the city&nbsp;since 1999, when the maximum temperature reached 37.0&nbsp;degrees Celsius&nbsp;on July 9.

Overall, it is the 11th highest maximum temperature recorded in Srinagar in July. The city witnessed the highest maximum temperature of&nbsp;38.3&nbsp;degrees Celsius&nbsp;recorded on&nbsp;July 10, 1946.

"Yesterday's temperature was 35.6 degrees and it was the highest temperature since 1999 when the temperature was 37.0 degrees, and it is also the 11th highest temperature recorded ever in the month of July in Srinagar. And it's not only Srinagar but also the higher reaches like Kokernag which recorded the all-time highest temperature. For Qazigund station and Gulmarg which also broke its decade-old record, a similar heat wave was also seen in north plains and south Kashmir as well,"&nbsp;said Faizan Arif, Weather Analyst and Forecaster.

Tourists landing in the Kashmir Valley from&nbsp;other North Indian states like Himachal&nbsp;and Uttarakhand are highly disappointed with&nbsp;heat&nbsp;waves&nbsp;not sparing these higher reaches as well.&nbsp;

"This is very hot, it's around 35-36 and in UP it's 41, not much of a difference. I did not expect this hot weather at all, we thought it would be pleasant and we would do a lot of adventure activities. We are staying inside the hotel all day and not venturing out due to heat. I am travelling with thermals, jackets and sweaters and we have not even opened it as we are feeling extremely hot here,"&nbsp;said Vishwa Gupta, a tourist from Uttar Pradesh.&nbsp;

The MeT has said that there is no hope of any respite from the&nbsp;heat&nbsp;in the next 48 hours. The weather does not only remain high in Srinagar city but also at tourist places on higher reaches like Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Kokernag and Verinag.&nbsp;&nbsp;

People who were expecting to witness icy winds and escape the scorching heat of the rest of the country were also left disappointed.

"It's very hot here, it at least rains in our areas, and here we have only seen scorching heat. We have come to Kashmir to witness cold weather, but we are sweating here. We have brought woollens but have not used them. Only wearing T-shirts as it's hot. Very disappointed with the weather, the sun is extremely intense here,"&nbsp;said Tanya Gupta, a tourist.&nbsp;

The government has taken the recent terror attacks very seriously. The Union Home Minister (Amit Shah) has chaired a meeting with the officials of Jammu and Kashmir to review them," he said.

PM Modi on Friday (June 21) led celebrations for the International Day of Yoga 2024 in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar.&nbsp;

Addressing the event, Modi said that in the last decade, the expansion of Yoga has changed the perception related to it. "Today, the world is seeing a new Yoga economy going forward. In India, from Rishikesh and Kashi to Kerala, a new connection of Yoga tourism is being seen," the prime minister said.

Srinagar gears up for International Yoga Day Celebrations 2024

Fresh encounter broke out in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda District on Wednesday leaving a soldier injured. Now this is the second encounter in Doda and a fourth in Jammu Kashmir in the last four days.

The meeting was attended by the top officials of the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police, CRPF and BSF. The LG also stressed the security of the Upcoming Amarnath Yatra, which is starting on June 29.&nbsp;

According to the security forces, a multi-level security system has been planned for the Amarnath Yatra.

The latest technologies and equipment will be used to make the Yatra foolproof, journey safe and easy.

All the pilgrims who come will be tagged. Which will know the position of the pilgrims, apart from this UAV, CCTV cameras will also be used.&nbsp;

Reasi Attack: Security forces launch massive manhunt to nab terrorists

At least ten people were killed and 33 injured when a bus carrying Hindu pilgrims plunged into a deep gorge after a suspected militant attack in the Indian federal territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday (June 09), police said.

Official accounts state that three people fell as a consequence of the glacier collapse following which a local resident, two tourists, and the third person was found trapped in the debris.

A bomb threat was received on a Vistara flight bound for Srinagar with 177 passengers and one infant aboard on Friday (May 31) after which the airline and security forces took swift action.&nbsp;

Flight no-UK-611 departed from India's capital New Delhi and safely landed at Srinagar Airport at nearly 12:10 am (local time).&nbsp;

The airport authorities at Srinagar International Airport received a bomb threat call targeting Vistara flight UK611 which was arriving from Delhi.

The Air Traffic Control (ATC) Srinagar received information about the ‘threatening call’ which led to a swift and co-ordinated response from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).&nbsp;

The airlines followed the standard protocol&nbsp;decided for such threats and the aircraft was directed immediately to an isolation bay after landing.

The FIR lodged by police says that a huge number of armed and uniformed personnel of 160 Territorial Army led by three officers unauthorisedly entered the premises of police station Kupwara and they collectively and without any provocation in the form of unlawful assembly severely attacked the staff and officers present at the police station with rifle butts, kicks and sticks.

“The information was immediately conveyed to senior police officers who rushed to the police station to rescue them. Upon seeing the arrival of police units and senior police officers the personnel and officers of 160 Territorial Army led by Lieutenant Colonel Ankit Sood, Raju Chauhan and Nikhil brandished their weapons and snatched the mobile phones of the injured personnel and SHO police station Kupwara, Inspector Mohammad Ishaq. While fleeing they abducted Mohari's Head constable, Ghulam Rasool along with them and absconded from the spot," the FIR says.

The Tulip garden saw a record number of visitors last year with 3.7 lakh (370,000) visitors and officials say all previous records have been broken this year even as the garden still remains open for public.&nbsp;

''As you have witnessed, the Tulip garden has been breaking all its previous records every year, and this year is also not a surprise for us. We have witnessed 4.2 lakh visitors so far in a span of 30 days. 4.2 lakh visitors have explored the garden so far and many more will come. This year, we also saw a huge number of foreign tourists from various parts of the world coming to the garden, around 2500-3000 foreigners. The tulip committee will soon decide about the closure date of the garden,'' said Asif Ahmad Itoo, Floriculture Officer. &nbsp;

The Tulip garden has played a major role in attracting more and more tourists to Kashmir Valley during spring. And seeing the huge rush of visitors, the government opened&nbsp;the garden much before the earlier time. It used to open in&nbsp;the first week of April but this time it was opened a week earlier on March 23.&nbsp;&nbsp;

''We have seen the Tulip garden only in films but seeing it in reality is an amazing feeling. We couldn't have imagined that such a flower could exist in reality. People from around&nbsp;the world come to see this garden. This place is so clean and really a paradise on earth,'' said Aditya Tripathi, a tourist.

Over 150 gardeners and staff have worked day and night to ready the garden for the public. It takes these gardeners around 6 months to get the garden ready, and huge planning is done much earlier before the opening of the garden. A lot of foreign tourists are coming to the Valley as well, especially to see the Tulip Garden.&nbsp;

''Kashmir is really a paradise, and it's the crown of India. This tulip garden is unique, and we have specially come from Indore to see the garden. We missed the snowfall, but this is beautiful. Things that we see in the movies sometimes are not real, but this garden is real and mesmerising. Next time, I will come with my whole family,'' said Sanawar Khan, a tourist.

The District Election Authority under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme had gathered volunteers from various schools of the Valley to create election awareness. The reason for holding the awareness campaign in the tulip garden was due to the huge footfall of people.&nbsp;

School-going children playing guitars and singing songs in the world-famous Tulip Garden in Srinagar managed to hold hundreds of people visiting the garden. These young boys and girls had volunteered with the Jammu and Kashmir Government to hold an awareness programme in Srinagar.

The motive of the programme remains to enhance public participation and voter awareness in the electoral process of the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections 2024. And banners of the same were seen all across the garden as well.

''It's the programme of SVEEP, We are doing an awareness programme here in Tulip Garden as Srinagar is going to polls on May 13. We are doing these programmes everywhere including colleges, universities and places which have a huge footfall. This is Asia's largest Tulip garden and students from schools, colleges and universities are doing programmes to create awareness. It's very beautiful, we will go to Tulip Garden also but this is a natural beauty and everyone should explore it. I did not expect this. While we were on our way to Pahalgam, we saw the fields I asked my driver to stop so that I could take pictures. ''It has its own charm; mustard fields are always amazing and give a village feel. We were trying to recreate the DDLJ scene. We went to Gulmarg and Pahalgam and today we are going to the gardens and also stopped here to enjoy the mustard fields. Once I go back, I will go with a message that everyone should come here for sure,'' said Manjit, a tourist.&nbsp;

The government's National Oilseeds Mission also plans to expand oilseed cultivation, particularly mustard in the Kashmir Valley. The National Oilseeds Mission aims to expand oilseed cultivation to 140,000 hectares by 2023-24, a remarkable 253.12% increase.

''We used to have very little mustard farming, but in the last few years, we have been focussing on increasing the mustard farms. We have increased around 500 hectares of land this year for mustard cultivation, especially on this national highway used by tourists. We started agro-tourism here on the highway. These are the same fields as saffron, and a lot of tourists visit at that time and now due to the mustard more tourists are coming here during the spring as well. A lot of people are stopping here to take pictures and this farming also helps honeybees to increase the apiculture,'' said Ishtiaq Ahmad Bhat, Agriculture Officer.&nbsp;

With spring on, The Tulip Garden located below the Zabarwan Hills and overlooking the world-famous Dal Lake, is looking no less than a floral wonderland. The floriculture department is also planning a Tulip festival in the month of April. And the gardeners are making sure that most of the tulips bloom before the opening of the Garden.&nbsp;

''Tulip Garden is an internationally recognised garden and it plays an important role for the tourism sector in Kashmir Valley. We always try to add new attractions to the garden every year and this time too we have added floral surprises this year. We have introduced new vibrant colour schemes with five new varieties and apart from that we have added daffodils and hyacinths. 1.7 million tulips will be blooming in the garden this year'', said Asif Ahmad Itoo, Floriculture Officer. &nbsp;

''Tulip Garden is an internationally recognised garden and it plays an important role for the tourism sector in Kashmir Valley. We always try to add new attractions to the garden every year and this time too we have added floral surprises this year. We have introduced new vibrant colour schemes with five new varieties and apart from that we have added daffodils and hyacinths. 1.7 million tulips will be blooming in the garden this year'', said Asif Ahmad Itoo, Floriculture Officer.
