The Boeing 737, which had departed from Narita Airport near Tokyo, landed at the Kansai International Airport shortly after 7 pm local time (10:00 GMT). The emergency landing was prompted by the activation of a cargo fire warning system while the plane was flying over the Pacific Ocean, as reported by public broadcaster NHK. Flight SG-15 made an emergency landing at Karachi's Jinnah International Airport around 9:30 pm on Tuesday, reported officials.

As per a PTI report, the medical emergency onboard involved a young man.

The spokesperson said that a medical team of the CAA were present at the airport to give immediate, emergency medical attention to the passenger.

"After getting medical treatment, the passenger has recovered, and the flight has also been refuelled and will fly on to Dubai," the official said.

In a statement released on Tuesday night, a spokesperson for SpiceJet announced that the plane flying from Ahmedabad to Dubai was diverted to Karachi.

"On December 5, 2023, SpiceJet Boeing 737 aircraft operating flight SG-15 (Ahmedabad-Dubai) was diverted to Karachi due to a medical emergency," said the statement.

"A call regarding a bomb in Pune-bound SpiceJet flight from Delhi was received before the take-off. CISF &amp; Delhi Police are on alert. Flight is being checked at Delhi Airport," the Delhi Police said.

It added, "So far nothing suspicious has been found but security drill will be followed as per SOP (standard operating procedure)."

Meanwhile, the authorities are also trying to trace the caller.

Earlier on Monday, a bomb scare prompted the emergency landing of a Moscow-Goa chartered flight. The Azur Air flight was checked for over 12 hours before taking off from Gujarat's Jamnagar for its destination. Officials now say that the alleged bomb threat was just a 'hoax call'.
