When sharply written, these words can embrace the characters in layers of unvarnished molten gold. Sure enough, the repartees in 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety'(SKTKS) &nbsp;just roll off the characters’ tongues making them sound sassy and sombre even when they are being mean and vicious just because it suits the script’s purposes. And &nbsp;God knows, this film needs no excuse to let the words flow. So full marks to co-writer Rahul Mody and &nbsp;Luv Ranjan for investing the vivacious proceedings with a &nbsp;verbal gusto that I found to be more sparkling in wit and insinuations than the dialogues in any recent film.</p>

<p>SKTKS is the story of the eponymous Titu(Sunny Singh, suitably equanimous) who is &nbsp;a &nbsp;bit of a rich spoilt dullard mithaiwala’s son who falls in love with every human being in a skirt, the shorter the better. It takes Titu’s &nbsp;BFF Sonu(Kartik Aryan) to rescue Titu from his &nbsp;disastrous relationship crises time after time.At one point in the slyly silken storytelling, Kartik’s Sonu tells the manipulative gold digger a story of what he did &nbsp;to a boy in the classroom as a child when that boy troubled Titu.</p>

<p>Clearly this a bromance of extraordinary intensity and Kartik and Sunny &nbsp;Singh, especially Kartik, plays the brothers-born-from-different-mothers with a &nbsp;ferocious fidelity never allowing gay insinuations to colour their camaraderie.Luv Ranjan &nbsp;is &nbsp;very clear &nbsp;in his reading of &nbsp;‘bromantic’ relationships. The woman is often a gold-digging manipulative scheming &nbsp;bitch.Nushrat Bharucha plays the part with relish. &nbsp;It’s her ongoing game of oneupmanship with &nbsp;Kartik Aryan’s Sonu that &nbsp;gives a thundering heft to the plot, lifting even the sagging episodes(like the pre-marriage bachelor party in Amsterdam which stretches into a blingy binge) to a &nbsp;zestful place filled with sexy sounds and &nbsp;seductive &nbsp;images of &nbsp;from privileged homes where no one has to bother about anything except the next holiday abroad.</p>

<p>Luv Ranjan is terrific at shooting family dynamics during festive times. Wedding-time negotiations, backbiting and meal/alcohol consumption occupy a &nbsp;major &nbsp;part of &nbsp;narrative. There is a &nbsp;kind of compelling clarity to the way Ranjan &nbsp;pins down the inner workings of relationships in joint families about to come together through a &nbsp;marital alliance.</p>

<p>Of course, it helps that character actors from Alok Nath(abandoning his bovine image to play a wickedly irreverent grandfather) to Pritam Jaiswal(as an annoyingly efficient house help who is manipulated out of the household) &nbsp;add character to every scene they occupy. Indeed this is not so much a triangle as a wreck-tangle with every supporting actor egging on the central conflict among two men who just can’t stop loving one another and a &nbsp;woman , who will tear them apart at any cost.</p>

<p>Nushrat Bharucha’s deftly enacted Sweety admits at one point she is not the heroine but the villain. So does she get her hero or does she get her comeuppance? The answer my friend is blowing in the wink. Tongue lodged firmly in &nbsp;cheek, Luv Ranjan’s bromance-versus-romance tale has enough bite to make it one of the most invigorating rom-coms &nbsp;in recent times.</p>

<p>After this oddball blockbuster changed &nbsp;Kartik Aaryan’s fortunes he had said to me, &nbsp;“Every actor dreams for this day and finally, for me it's here. I enjoy going to theatres to see the audience's reaction. I feel happy when they shout out my name. I'm enjoying the kind of love and adulation I'm getting from everyone and especially from girls haha . My Insta, Twitter and FB inbox is filled with marriage and dating proposals. I love reading them all.I started really young and was youngest actor to debut as a lead in a movie and before entering the industry a senior person had told me once that generally, it takes 7 to 8 years to make your identity in this city, Mumbai. It teaches you a lot about life. It makes you to value things in life. I used to travel from Navi Mumbai to Andheri for auditions via local train everyday. I used to get ready in railway stations’ washroom. But I had no option. I didn't know anyone in the city. But today I feel happy and proud when I look back at those days.”</p>

Because that’s my character Sonu they are judging, not me, Thankfully the audience is flocking to see the film without getting judgmental about the gender equations in the film.</p>

<p>About his special bonding with Luv Ranjan &nbsp;Kartik says, &nbsp;“I’d do it as many times as Luv Ranjan wants me to. Luv Sir stood by me through all these years. It takes a &nbsp;lot of guts to stand by someone you believe in when that someone is not a big star.He very clearly told producers it’s me and Nushrat Bharucha and no one else. I wonder where I’d have been in this lonely city without someone to believe in my talent.Not that I would have ever given up. I believed in &nbsp;myself. 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety' actors Kartik Aaryan, Sunny Singh reunite for 'Pati Patni Aur Woh'

News has it that Ranbir Kapoor has also been roped in for the project.&nbsp;<br />

And now sources have stated that Ranbir has given his nod to Luv Ranjan's film.&nbsp;<br />

The project which is slated to release in 2019, will pair Devgn and Kapoor for the first time. &nbsp;“Ranbir is an impeccable actor with a great ability to deliver nuanced performances. He is undeniably the most talented actor of his generation. I am looking forward to collaborating with him," said Devgn to a news daily.&nbsp;<br />

Most films have men playing the villain, what does it say about men at large? We don’t have a problem with that. Why do we get uncomfortable with women playing a negative character? I think we should give more credit to our audience. They are smart, they will not get swayed so early."</p>

'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety' box-office collection: Continues steady run, earns Rs 73.26 crore

<p>Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha&#39;s <em>Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety </em>helmed by Luv Ranjan was one of the most anticipated films in its genre given the great track record of this trio have had. They have previously given two back to back hits which helped <em>Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety</em> to garner more curiosity before its release. Now that film has hit the screens all across, it has received mixed reviews from the critics and tremendous love from the audiences.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The film also stars&nbsp;Sunny Singh who has&nbsp;delivered stellar performance along with Nushrat and Kartik. All reviews unanimously have applauded Kartik&rsquo;s incredible range and his charming screen presence.</p>

<p>Every week box office sees a clash, and last Friday was no different. Along with <em>Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety</em>, Puja Films&#39;s <em>Welcome to New York,&nbsp;</em>a multi starrer film starring Sonakshi and Diljit in the lead, had also released. Early reports suggest that SKTKS has raced ahead of this multi-starrer film owing to its performances and an incredible response from the audiences.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The box office numbers also seem to suggest so.The first day opening of <em>Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety</em> was close to 7 CR and that of Welcome to New York was approximately 1.2 crores.</p>

<p>After two days, the film earned Rs 15.76 cores which is a good number considering the film was pitted against Welcome To New York which had bigger stars featured in it.&nbsp;<br />

They have previously given two back to back hits which helped Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety to garner more curiosity before its release. Now that film has hit the screens all across, it has received mixed reviews from the critics and tremendous love from the audiences. The film also stars Sunny Singh who has delivered stellar performance along with Nushrat and Kartik. All reviews unanimously have applauded Kartik’s incredible range and his charming screen presence. Every week box office sees a clash, and last Friday was no different. Along with Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Puja Films's Welcome to New York, a multi starrer film starring Sonakshi and Diljit in the lead, had also released. Early reports suggest that SKTKS has raced ahead of this multi-starrer film owing to its performances and an incredible response from the audiences. The box office numbers also seem to suggest so.The first day opening of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety was close to 7 CR and that of Welcome to New York was approximately 1.2 crores. After two days, the film earned Rs 15.76 cores which is a good number considering the film was pitted against Welcome To New York which had bigger stars featured in it. When Ranjan made his first film, the hilarious <em>Pyaar Ka Punchnama,</em> most of us overlooked the sexist tone in the film because it provided genuine laughs with some witty lines. The sequel, <em>Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 </em>was similar in many ways. It had three boys delivering some sharp lines and being the hapless boyfriends to very shrewd, sexy, gold diggers. Both films indulged in sexist jokes and female bashing. &nbsp;His second film <em>Akaash Vani</em> - was perhaps the only departure from his formula comedies- where the film spoke about marital rape.<br />
&nbsp;<br />
<em>Sonu Ke Titu ki Sweety</em>, unfortunately, does not fall into the latter category but the former. Ranjan&#39;s story about &#39;Bromance vs Romance&#39; sticks to stereotypes, makes jokes about ditzy women who either are wanting to sleep with the rich brats or marry and take control of them. Or both.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
Sonu (Kartik Aaryan) has been lending his shoulder to his BFF Titu (Sunny Singh) to cry on, for years every time he breaks up with a girl. Titu, a bit of a mushball, falls easily in and out of love and Sonu, like a good and possessive friend, always ends up &#39;rescuing&#39; him from the clutches of manipulative girls. Titu meets Sweety Sharma ( Nushrat Bharucha) in an arranged marriage set up and falls instantly in love. Sweety has literally no flaw. She knows how to please her man and his family with the right responses and timely<em> j</em><em>agratas</em>. The only person who is not impressed is Sonu, who feels something is surely fishy about the girl who is set to marry his friend. &#39;<em>Itna perfect </em><em>kaun</em><em> </em><em>hota</em><em> hai</em>?&#39; is his argument.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As the days go by and the family gears up for the grand wedding, Sonu tries every trick in his bag to sabotage the wedding because he is sure that the girl is not right for his friend. The girl though is smart enough to figure out Sonu&#39;s intention, and even admits she is &#39;<em>chalu</em>&#39; and calls a spade for a spade and has a ready retort to all of Sonu&#39;s accusations. Thus begins a battle of sexes and no prizes for guessing who wins in a story that screams of misogyny.<br />
<br />
Ranjan manages to gather a motley group of actors, all in top form and delivering some unintentional and some genuinely hilarious lines with absolute ease. Aaryan, a regular in Ranjan&#39;s films, gets the over suspicious, over-possessive Sonu&#39;s part to the hilt. So does Singh, who as the gullible, sweet Titu is someone you would fall for very easily. There is Alok Nath, &nbsp;who after ages gets to be non -<em>sanskari</em>, and is quite a delight to watch. Actress Ishita Raj, as Titu&#39;s ex girlfriend also delivers a fine performance as the girl who is gullible enough to think Titu wants her back. The film&#39;s female lead, Bharucha, Ranjan&#39;s other favourite, though gets a raw deal as her character is the most half-baked. Never does it clearly mention as to why Sweety is not the right girl for Titu or why she can&#39;t be trusted. So Bharucha is left narrowing her eyes&nbsp;at regular intervals.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In fact, Ranjan oversimplifies and makes a generic statement on how between the wife and the friend, the wife wins. In Ranjan&#39;s universe, the woman is always manipulative, overtly critical, always wanting to control the man in her life and usually a gold digger. In all his films, including <em>Sonu Ke Titu ki Sweety</em>, women are the butt of all kinds of jokes. His characters pass sweeping statements on women and his women stick to all kind of stereotypes. And that is the primary problem with this film. But isn&#39;t this something that Luv Ranjan has been portraying in all his films?Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety doesn&#39;t offer anything new that way.</p>

<p>Barring one, all his films have celebrated male bonding at the expense of dissing the women. And at a time, when filmmakers consciously are trying to change the way we see female characters in films, <em>Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety</em> negates all those attempts by creating caricature characters.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
Ranjan&#39;s films always have some hilarious lines and this film has its fair share too. But all of these factors still don&#39;t manage to make the film as entertaining at Ranjan&#39;s first film.</p>

<p>Despite its flaws, the film is bound to work. Because it celebrates <em>dosti</em><em> </em>over <em>pyaar</em>. Because it makes some crass jokes about girlfriends and wives which in a few months will become Whats App forwards. It has some catchy tunes, good-looking actors who deliver the witty, cocky lines perfectly that will get the crowd cheering in the theatres for sure.</p>

<p>Is that good enough? Maybe for the audience that it caters too. But if you look beyond all the floss, it indulges in&nbsp;misogyny and that is definitely not cool.</p>

Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety review: The boys have a good laugh at the girl's expense

<p>He is the actor behind the viral<em> Pyaar Ka Punchnama</em>&nbsp;monologue and now Kartik Aaryan is facing the girl trouble again but this time from the fiancee of his best friend in the tongue-twistingly titled <em>Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety</em>.<br />

The actor may be playing an overcautious buddy to a gullible, love lorn friend but he does not believe the film, directed by Luv Ranjan, pits bromance against romance. &quot;There are two friends and the new entry is the woman. We have not really revealed who the &#39;bad&#39; person is. In the trailer, you can&#39;t figure out who&#39;s at fault or if there&#39;s anyone at fault at all. The film is more than just bromance versus romance. &#39;Punchnama&#39; was also not against women, but against wrong relationships,&quot; Aryan told PTI.<br />

The actor, who found fame with the meltdown monologue of a hassled boyfriend in the 2011 film, says his aspiration in the beginning of his career was to become the biggest romantic hero.</p>

'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety' postponed due to 'Padmaavat', to release on Feb 23

<p>Bollywood&#39;s versatile actress Rani Mukerji announced her return on the silver screen after a gap of four years with <em>Hichki</em> on December 19, 2017.&nbsp;</p>

<p>With an invigorating <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/entertainment-hichki-trailer-rani-mukerji-is-back-with-a-bang-27185" target="_blank">trailer</a> launch, the true Queen of Bollywood made waves starring as a teacher with a speech disorder. In medical terms, she is shown suffering from Tourette&#39;s Syndrome --&nbsp;a neuropsychiatric disorder that manifests itself in motor or vocal tics. The trailer shows Mukerji trying to conquer the disorder even as she is given a difficult set of children to teach.</p>

<p>Kartik Aaryan is playing Sonu&rsquo;s character in &lsquo;Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety&rsquo;, who is trying to save his friend, Titu, played by Sunny Singh, from the girl Sweety (played by Nushrat Bharucha), whom he is going to marry.</p>

<p>While talking about his character in the movie, Kartik said, &ldquo;Sonu is a kind of friend you need to have and once you watch the movie you will crave for a Sonu in your life. He is very relatable, lovable and a friend with that motherly instinct.&rdquo;</p>
