“Intimacy is not there to titillate or to excite the audience. It is natural and honest to these characters. I have an inherent trust in Shakun and so I agreed to the film. We knew we would showcase lovemaking differently in the film but didn’t discuss the specifics of it was initially offered to me.”<br />

Insisting that infidelity is only one of the aspects of the film, Deepika said ‘Gehraiyaan’ was much more. “There is a character who has made choices and has to go through a series of emotions and consequences because of it. It’s not KANK- infidelity is just one of the themes of the film,” said the actress.&nbsp;</p>

The actress though admitted that Alisha, her character in ‘Gehraiyaan’, is the most complex role she has played in her career. “Alisha is the most layered and complex character I have played on screen. Playing such a role comes with its own set of challenges. But while performing, it didn’t come in my mind. I guess, one just goes with the flow and it's important to be true to the moment. I didn’t really prep for the role. It is the most complex character I have played on screen.”&nbsp;<br />

The star said she would have not signed the film, had it not been for director Shakun Batra who in the past has made films like ‘Kapoor and Sons’ and ‘Ek Main Aur Ek Tu’. Ananya Panday on the other hand holds her own in the film. The film is about Alisha, but Panday's Tia stays with you too, for the actress brings in the right amount of vulnerability to her character.Karwa, on the other hand, gets a raw deal. Despite his charming screen presence, Karwa's Karan is the least flexed out character in the film. He doesn't even get a back story, unlike the other three characters.&nbsp;Much like his character, the writers too were lazy to write his character well.</p>

<p>Pavleen Gujral has an interesting cameo and delivers to her part well. Veterans Naseeruddin Shah and Rajat Kapor also perform well in their limited roles. Scenes between&nbsp; Shah and Padukone are the most special- and sensitively dealt with. The two actors perform the scenes beautifully as well.&nbsp;</p>

Padukone and Panday&nbsp;and&nbsp;Karwa are supposed to be of similar age - which in reality they aren't and the difference is obvious.&nbsp;Also, the runtime of the film at 2hrs 28 minutes is a bit of stretch with many shots kept in to take in the silence and grasp the complexities.<br aria-hidden="true" />

The film features Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday and Dhairya Karwa in the lead. The first teaser of the film was shared in December 2021 and had created quite a buzz. The trailer completely lives up to the hype. The film features two couples and their complex relationships. Deepika plays Alisha Khanna, an ambitious woman who now finds herself at a crossroads in life. Her six-year-long relationship with her partner(Dhairya Karwa) has grown monotonous, her career seems to be hitting a lot of roadblocks and just when she had begun to accept this reality as unchangeable, her life is usurped by the arrival of her cousin, Tia(Ananya Panday) and her fiancé, Zain(Siddhant Chaturvedi), with whom she bonds over a troubled past and a common wish to break from its confines. The story charts the journey of Alisha and Zain, as they confront the ghost of their past on the path they take to avoid it. The film also features Naseeruddin Shah and Rajat Kapur in pivotal roles and has been produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. <p>The teaser opens with a knock on Deepika's door with Siddhant on the other side of the door. The door opens and the two then can be seen engaged in a passionate embrace as they kiss each other. The plot of the film is not known yet but it appears to be a love story and complications that come along with it.&nbsp;<br />

The film also gives a glimpse of Ananya Panday and Dhairya Karwa's characters.&nbsp;<br />

The door opens and the two then can be seen engaged in a passionate embrace as they kiss each other. The plot of the film is not known yet but it appears to be a love story and complications that come along with it. The film also gives a glimpse of Ananya Panday and Dhairya Karwa's characters. 'Gehraiyaan' was announced before the lockdown in early 2020 but got delayed due to the pandemic. It will now release on Amazon prime on January 25. A day earlier the cast had shared images of the film. "Yes…It has been a bit of a wait. Taking to her Instagram handle, Deepika shared the post. The string of photos began with Deepika and Siddhant cuddling up Ananya in bed while posing for the camera. The rest of the images included candid shots of the trio between scenes, a lipstick mark on tissue paper, and a clapboard from the sets.<br />

A few members of the cast wearing masks and concentrating on the scenes were also featured in the post, which garnered more than 5 lakh likes.
