Award-winning actress Sandra Oh has officially made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in Donizetti’s La Fille du Régiment, showcasing her versatility beyond the screen. Earlier this year, in June, the governor-general appointed the 'Grey's Anatomy' star dual citizenship of Canada and United States and she was also honoured with an Officer of the Order of Canada, the second-highest civilian honour within the Canadian system of honours. Oh received the title for "her artistic career filled with memorable stage, television and film roles in Canada and abroad," according to Governor General Mary Simon's official announcement.&nbsp;<br />

The honour was, in fact, created by Queen Elizabeth II in 1967 "to honour people whose service shapes our society, whose innovations ignite our imaginations, and whose compassion unites our imaginations, and whose compassion unites our communities."&nbsp;</p>

"In addition, the Canadian delegation will include members of the Order of Canada Mark Tewksbury, Gregory Charles, and Sandra Oh and Cross of Valour recipient Leslie Arthur Palmer. They will participate in a procession of recipients of national honours as part of the service," read the statement.</p>

Oh said, "To be perfectly honest, it was traumatic. The reason why I`m saying that is the circumstances you need to do your work is with a lot of privacy."<br />

She continued, "So when one loses one`s anonymity, you have to build skills to still try and be real. I went from not being able to go out, like hiding in restaurants, to then being able to manage attention, manage expectation, while not losing the sense of self."<br />

The actor then shared that she was able to cope with the fame and new lifestyle because she had a good therapist."I`m not joking. It`s very, very important. You just have to work at finding your way to stay grounded. And a lot of times that`s by saying no," she said about dealing with her mental health.<br />

Oh left `Grey`s Anatomy` seven years ago and fans have been hoping she might make a return to the series one day as season 17 of the medical drama welcomed back a number of former stars including Patrick Dempsey as Derek Shepherd, TR Knight as George O`Malley, Chyler Leigh as Lexie Grey, Eric Dane as Mark Sloan, and Sarah Drew as April Kepner.<br />

However, in May, Oh shut down the possibility of reprising her role as Cristina Yang, noting on the Los Angeles Times` podcast Asian Enough that she has "moved on."<br />

I left that show, my God, seven years ago almost. So in my mind, it`s gone. But for a lot of people, it`s still very much alive. For many of us in our community, this is the first time we are even able to voice our fear and our anger, and I really am so grateful for everyone willing to listen."</p>

<p>She added, ""One thing that I know is that many in our community are very scared, and I understand that. And one way to go through our fear is to reach out to our community." The actress then challenged everyone to help protect against violence and support "sisters and brothers" in need: "If you see something, will you help me? If you see one of our sisters and brothers in need, will you help us? We must understand, as Asian Americans, we just need to reach out our hand to our sisters and brothers and say, 'Help me and I'm here.' "</p>
