Bihar BJP Media in-charge Danish Iqbal on Monday (Oct 7) launched a scathing attack on former deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav's 'upbringing and mentality', alleging that several items like furniture, light fixtures, and air conditioners were found missing from the bungalow after the RJD leader vacated it.

Even the badminton court mat has been taken, and the fountain lights and sofas have been taken. It's clear that when Tejashwi Yadav vacated the house, he took everything with him. "The postal ballot votes are given by service people. Our candidates had asked in writing why many of them were cancelled. On whose order were the postal ballots counted at the end? These must have been recorded and sealed. We demand recounting of postal ballot votes as we were defeated by very fewer margins," he said, quoting the rule for the counting of the postal-ballot votes.

He also served as the member of Rajya Sabha for a year from 2009 to 2010.&nbsp;

In 2013, he became the youngest chief minister of the state with support from Congress and RJD and served from 2013 to December 2014.

Hemant's father Shibu Soren had also served thrice as the state's chief minister - once barely for ten days.

Soren became a leader of the tribals in Jharkhand after he led a protest against proposed amendments of Chhota Nagpur Tenancy Act and Santhal Pargana Tenancy Act in 2016.

He has also been a vocal protester of the Direct Benefit Transfer in Public Distribution System and has voiced concerns over the scheme might cause suffering and injustice.

Soren is also a critic of proposed amendments to the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Bill by the Jharkhand government.

After this landslide win, Soren will succeed Raghubar Das of Bharatiya Janata Party.

During the Monsoon session on June 28, Pandey had dismissed the criticism against the government on the issue.

Lalu, who has been convicted in three fodder scam cases by a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Ranchi since December last year, was undergoing treatment at Rajendra Institute Medical Sciences (RIMS) earlier.

He was admitted to RIMS on&nbsp;March 16&nbsp;after he complained of discomfort at Birsa Munda Jail, and was later moved to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.

The suggestion came after the medical board at the RIMS reviewed the condition of Lalu Prasad and found that his sugar level was high and increasing.

They also said that he had developed some renal problems.

He also reportedly suffers from high blood pressure and diabetes.

Their car was on its way to Kishanganj from Patna when it lost control, broke through the road divider and collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction in Simraha police station area around 6 am, a police officer said.

The deceased have been identified as Ikramul Haq Baghi, party activist and son of former state minister Islamuddin Kishanganj district president Intekhab Alam Dighalganj block president Pappu and driver Sahil, said Manoj Kumar, sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), Forbesganj, Araria district.

"It appears that the driver had dozed off behind the steering wheel, resulting in loss of control over the car," the SDPO said.

All four occupants of the vehicle died on the spot and their bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, he added.

He added that "the way government and administration have shown red-tapism, it is a clear indication that they want to demoralise Lalu ji".

Over a thousand supporters of the Rashtriya Janata Dal were detained today for trying to enforce a shutdown in Bihar to protest against the sand-mining policy of the Nitish Kumar-led government.

A top police officer said protesters tried to disrupt road traffic in the morning and forced vendors to close their shops in several districts.

In the state capital, the bandh evoked mixed response as many commercial establishments remained open but downed shutters for brief periods during visits by RJD supporters.

&quot;A total of 1,734 persons were held across the state for disrupting public order, while trying to enforce the bandh,&quot; Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) S K Singhal told reporters.

He said 18 FIRs have been lodged at various police stations in the districts in connection with the incidents reported during the day.

Senior RJD leaders, including MLAs Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav and Bhola Yadav, were detained at the Dak Bungalow Road crossing when they were staging a demonstration in a tractor, police said.

They were taken to the Kotwali police station nearby and let off a couple of hours later after they signed bonds, they said.

The RJD leaders have been accusing the state government of putting stringent restrictions on sand mining.

The Opposition party claimed that construction activities have come to a standstill in the state and thousands of workers have been rendered jobless due to the restrictions.

The party had, however, kept the Patna City and the bypass area out of the bandh purview to avoid causing inconvenience to Sikh pilgrims, who had converged in the area to attend the &quot;Shukrana&quot; (thanksgiving) ceremony as part of the 350th Prakash Parv (birth anniversary) celebrations of Guru Gobind Singh.
