A recent survey conducted by Gallup has revealed a significant inclination among workers to seek new employment opportunities, with one in five opting for "loud quitting", a term used for employees&nbsp;who are "not afraid to show" their discontentment towards their jobs and actively quit. The data highlights the rise of "loud quitting" or active disengagement, with 17 per cent of North American workers falling into the&nbsp;category of "loud quitting". This represents a two-point increase from 2021.

The survey covered respondents from both the United States and Canada, and it indicated that 47 per cent of them are actively searching for a different job. Moreover, a substantial 71 per cent of these respondents believe that it is the right time to hunt for a new job, media reports said.&nbsp;On a global scale, the figures are relatively comparable, with 51&nbsp;and 53 per cent respectively.

<h2>Influence of remote work&nbsp;</h2>

Gallup's Chief Workplace Scientist, Jim Harter, has spoken about the evolving dynamics of the work environment, marked by increased remote and hybrid work arrangements.

"With a massive increase in the work-life blend through more fully remote or hybrid work, the job of managing has never been more complex – and never more important. Fully remote and hybrid employees are more highly engaged than fully on-site employees. But they also report higher stress and a higher tendency to be watching for other jobs,” Harter reportedly said.&nbsp;

Gallup's findings indicate that workers in North America, particularly the United States and Canada, exhibited higher engagement levels last year compared to the global average.

Approximately 31 per cent of North American workers reported thriving in their work environments in 2022.&nbsp;While this figure decreased slightly from last year, it remained significantly higher than the global engagement rate of 23 per cent.&nbsp;

Job openings in the US increased in retail and durable goods manufacturing however it decreased in transportation, warehousing and&nbsp;utilities.

Local and state government education and federal government jobs fell even as job openings increased in the southern region, the data revealed.

In fact, the bureau stated that the number of "job openings was little changed at 11.5 million" which was the "highest level in the history of the series which began in December 2000."

President Rodrigo Duterte said Wednesday he was pulling the Philippines out of the treaty underpinning the International Criminal Court, which is examining his deadly drug war.

The outspoken leader, who is accused of stoking the killing of drug suspects with inflammatory statements, has fiercely pushed back since the Philippines became the first southeast Asian nation put under &quot;preliminary examination&quot; by the court&#39;s prosecutors.

The ICC announced last month it was launching a study of the killings, which Philippine police put at 4,000 but rights groups say is actually triple that number.

Officially quitting the court requires a year&#39;s notice and experts say pulling out does not preclude an investigation of the deaths, which have drawn international concern.

&quot;It is apparent that the ICC is being utilised as a political tool against the Philippines,&quot; Duterte said in a statement, adding the ICC examination was &quot;unduly and maliciously created&quot;.

&quot;I therefore declare and forthwith give notice... that the Philippines is withdrawing its ratification of the Rome Statute effective immediately,&quot; he added.

Opened in 2002, the ICC is the world&#39;s only permanent war crimes court and aims to prosecute the worst abuses when national courts are unable or unwilling.

The Philippines, under previous President Benigno Aquino, ratified in 2011 the Rome Statute which underpins the ICC, giving the tribunal authority to investigate crimes on its soil.

Rights advocates and attorneys said quitting the court would not eliminate the possibility of a case before it.
