<p>The farmers from Punjab resumed&nbsp;their "Chalo Dilli" march on the second day&nbsp;after they clashed with the police on the Punjab-Haryana border on Tuesday (Feb 13) and&nbsp;halted their stir for the night.</p>

<p>On Wednesday (Feb 14), tear gas shells were fired and water sprayed from tankers on the protesting farmers who tried to cross the Shambu border</p>

<p>The police had even earlier in the day&nbsp;resorted to firing tear gas shells to&nbsp;disperse the agitating farmers who were approaching the police barricade.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, the authorities have suspended mobile internet services, bulk SMS and all dongle services provided on mobile networks, except the voice calls in the districts Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad and Sirsa of Haryana State&nbsp;till February 15.</p>

<p>Reacting to the resumption of protests by farmers, Union Minister Arjun Munda said, "We are ready to hold discussions...We need to take into account all the sides and hold the talks...I request the farmers' union to maintain the environment for discussions. I had already said that our efforts to hold positive discussions with the farmers' union will continue."</p>

<p>Speaking to the media, Minister Munda said the farmer unions should not take any hasty decision that can draw criticism in the future.</p>

<p>"We should keep in mind all aspects and discuss this. The farmers need to ensure that normal life is not disrupted. I think no solution can be found by doing anything that creates inconvenience for the common man. Such actions only create hurdles in finding a solution. I urge them to maintain a conducive atmosphere for dialogue," the minister said. &nbsp;</p>

<p>"I will also urge the farmer unions not to get influenced by politics. The government is committed to farmers' welfare," he added. &nbsp;</p>

<p>In the wake of the protest, tight security arrangements have been made at the Tikri and Singhu Borders and the borders have been closed to prevent farmers from entering the national capital.</p>

<p>30-year-old Safa Aeli was sentenced to five years and four months of imprisonment by the revolutionary court in the family’s home town of Saqez which is located in north-western Iran, said the Norway-based Hengaw group and US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA).</p>

<p>Aeli had to also face sanctions, which included a highly unusual demand to produce a written document which outlines the biography of a security force member who had lost his life in the protest and later submit his “own personal interpretation” of the completed document to the judicial authorities, said Hengaw.</p>

<p>Amini's uncle was also given the order to share a voice message regarding the work on his social media accounts. In case, he failed to do that he was to be banned from expressing any views regarding the protests.</p>

<p>22-year-old Mahsa Amini died in hospital in September 2022 after she was arrested for allegedly flouting Islamic code of dressing for women in the Islamic Republic.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The charges against Aeli include dissemination of anti-government propaganda, insulting supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and participating in the protests which violated internal security.</p>

<p>Amini was earlier arrested for allegedly violating Iran's strict dress code for women.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Hundreds of people lost their lives in the protests, which included dozens of security personnel, and thousands of others were arrested over what officials called foreign-instigated "riots".&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Eight executions conducted so far&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>Ghobadlou was earlier given the death sentence in November 2022 after he was convicted of "corruption on Earth for attacking police in Tehran with a car, resulting in the death of one officer and injuries to five others," as reported by the Mizan website at the time.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Supreme Court in February 2023 granted him a stay of execution and his case was later referred to a new jurisdiction to deal with issues related to his mental health, as per a report published by Iran's Mehr news agency in July.</p>

<p>"The line has long since been crossed," protester Stephan Kalsh said at a demonstration in Cologne on Tuesday evening, where many protesters called for the party to be banned.</p>

<p>It was the latest in a wave of protests around the country that have attracted tens of thousands since the story broke last week. Some have been attended by high-ranking officials like Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.</p>

<p>The AfD, which is polling second in nationwide surveys, has denied the plans are party policy. Co-leader Alice Weidel parted ways with one of her advisers who participated in the talks.</p>

<p>Still, Germany's domestic spy chief Thomas Haldenwang has warned of extremist movements within the AfD, which is under security surveillance.</p>

<p>The reports of the plans have drawn widespread condemnation from political and security leaders. Scholz has urged democrats to stand against far-right&nbsp;"fanatics"&nbsp;while Haldenwang called for the "silent majority" to wake up.</p>

<p>"I am grateful that tens of thousands of people are taking to the streets across Germany these days against racism, hate speech and in favour of our liberal democracy," Scholz said on social media platform X on Wednesday.</p>

<p>"We democrats are many - many more than those who want to divide," he added.</p>

<p>Images of thousands of citizens braving sub-zero temperatures and snow to protest against the AfD in cities nationwide suggest they may just be.</p>
