The best chance to score the equaliser fell to Antonio Perosevic two minutes before the hour mark. A long ball from deep saw the forward find room behind the defensive line but his volley had too much elevation. Hyderabad FC recorded an emphatic 6-1 win over Odisha FC in the Hero Indian Super League at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim, Goa on Tuesday. Hyderabad FC striker Bartholomew Ogbeche scored in the 39th and 60th minute. Edu Garcia (54th), Javier Siverio (72nd), and Joao Victor (86 P) too got on the scoresheet for Hyderabad in a mind-blowing second-half display. 
 
For Odisha, Juanan scored an own goal in the 16th minute to make it 1-1, but after that, it was one-way traffic till the final whistle. The result means Hyderabad remain second in the points table with 15 points from eight games while Odisha are seventh in the table having 10 points from eight matches. Ogbeche is now the top scorer with eight goals to his name. 
 
The game got off to an eventful start as Hyderabad FC went ahead in the ninth minute. Edu Garcia swung in a delightful free-kick at the near post with Joao Victor flicking it on as the ball took a deflection off Hector Rodas and went in.

Pereira, in his first game as FC Goa head coach decided to go for an unchanged XI with Edu Bedia again leading the side. The former Indian international was without the services of Glan Martins, Brandon Fernandes and Jorge Ortiz owing to injuries and suspensions.

Their plans had to be altered as Airam Cabrera had to be taken off early with Nongdamba Naorem replacing the Spaniard.

A few minutes later it was Aibanbha Dohling creating issues for the Odisha defence as the centre-back rose highest from a corner, but failed to keep his header on target.

Noguera was back at it again a few minutes later as the Spaniard was played in beyond the Odisha defence by a delightful ball from Saviour Gama.

The midfielder looked on track to score his third goal of the season before Kamaljit pulled off another brilliant reaction save to keep Derrick Pereira's men at bay.

The breakthrough finally came in the 42nd minute through a corner kick. Ivan Gonzalez came up with his first of the season, getting on the end of a freekick from the left after Dohling did well to flick it on at the near post.

FC Goa came out the stronger of the two sides following the break. However, against the run of play, Odish equalised.

Jonathas made the most of his physical prowess as he bundled the ball over the line in the 53rd minute after a deflected cross from the left by Nandhakumar caught out the Gaurs' defence.

Odisha continued to build on the momentum from the goal and nearly took the lead in the 72nd minute.

Another cross from the left, this time off the boots of substitute Aridai Cabrera saw Dylan Fox hit the crossbar of his own goal as the Aussie looked to clear his lines. Liridon Krasniqi was first to the rebound. However, his shot was headed off the line by Ivan Gonzalez to keep the game on level terms.

The final phase of the game was characterised by both sides going for the kill as it became an end to end affair.

And it was Odisha who had the best opportunity of the game as Jonathas drew a tired Goa defence before playing in Krasniqi on the left. The Malaysian looked to curl the ball into the goal but was interrupted by a magnificent diving save by Dheeraj Singh.

The Gaurs will be back in action on December 29 when they take on their former head coach Juan Ferrando and ATK Mohun Bagan. That game is set for a 7:30 pm kick off.&nbsp;

Former champions Chennaiyin FC returned to winning ways with a 2-1 win over Odisha FC in the Indian Super League at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Saturday.

Germanpreet Singh opened the scoring with his first-ever goal in the ISL. Mirlan Murzaev made it 2-0 in the second half with a brilliant strike from distance as the Bozidar Bandovic-coached side moved to third in the points table, level on points with second-placed Jamshedpur FC and four off league leaders Mumbai City FC.

Odisha succumbed to their second straight defeat and dropped a rung to fifth place with nine points from six matches. Chennaiyin have 11 points from six games. Javi Hernandez scored a superb goal but it wasn't enough in the end.

Both teams looked to suss each other out in the opening exchanges and it was a cagey affair before Chennaiyin nosed ahead riding an unlikely source.

Germanpreet scored a goal after six years when he smashed home a rebound after Odisha keeper Kamaljit Singh blocked a cross from the right flank which fell to Germanpreet.

It was the first goal for the 25-year old since 2015 when he had netted for Dempo against Royal Wahingdoh.

Despite being 1-0 down, Odisha continued to give Chennaiyin a tough time but failed to find the back of the net, also adding teeth upfront.

It was end to end stuff from the start of the second period. Lallianzuala Chhangte got a golden opportunity to double Chennaiyin's lead when he was one-on-one with Kamaljit was narrowed the angle and smothered Chhangte's effort.

Five minutes later, Aridai Suarez fired a ferocious long-ranger which cannoned off the post and went out for a goalkick. Aridai came close again but his attempt flew over the bar.

At the other end, Chennaiyin doubled their advantage courtesy of a scintillating solo effort from Murzaev.

In an interview with Sky Sports, David Villa said that he will try and bring his experience to the role.&nbsp;

He said: "Obviously, I didn't play in India but I played soccer for 20 years as a professional and before that in the academy. And in all of the projects that we [my team] are involved in, I try to give all of my experience that I have in soccer.

"I was very lucky to have played with great players, behind me and close to me [and I also played under some] big coaches, amazing coaches. I have played in the big tournaments of football, and I will try and help using all of that experience."

David Villa was even asked if he was tempted to don the jersey of Odisha FC and play for them. To which, he replied: "It was the first question of the people of Odisha!

"I took a decision a year ago to stop playing because I thought that was it was the [right] moment, not because I felt that I cannot play soccer anymore. I believe if I train I can play soccer for sure.

"But I thought that moment [when I decided to retire] was the right time. As you know, life is not just about soccer I am 39 and I played for 20 years as a soccer player.

"I think I can help more the sport of football and the world of football in my position right now than on the field. I think I took the right decision because I am very happy now. I miss football a little bit, but i think I can help in the position now more than the things I can do on the field."

Both Odisha FC and Jamshedpur FC had targeted fresh beginnings in the ISL season 7 with a new coaching team and new recruits. Having suffered defeats, both the teams will know the importance of stopping the rut before it turns into an uncontrollable downward spiral.

Odisha will be concerned that they are yet to solve their defensive issues that plagued them last season, after looking shaky at the back against Hyderabad. Odisha coach Stuart Baxter, though, said there were tactical problems all over the pitch that he had identified in the last game.

"Tactically, the balance was wrong. We ended up being very separated. We couldn't get the ball up to the forward players. We need to relax a little bit more on the ball," he said.

And the performances of Jamshedpur attackers Nerijus Valskis and Jackichand Singh in their last match mean that Odisha's defence will likely be on their toes on Sunday.

"We can defend with more personality and more control," Baxter said.

"I will be looking to improve the defending, but it will not be the first thing that you automatically go to after that sort of result." Coyle, on the other hand, lost more than three points in the previous game with defenders Peter Hartley and Narender Gahlot going off injured.

Both the players are doubtful for Sunday's game while David Grande will miss out. Coyle will also be concerned by the lack of cohesion that plagued his side often during their opening fixture.

But he believes Jamshedpur will get better as the tournament progresses. "Jamshedpur FC is a new team effectively. There has been a whole lot of changes from last year. But, there is no doubt that we will get better as we go on. The harder we work, the more we will improve," he said.
