A senior official in President Joe Biden's administration said Iran has "made concessions on critical issues" and that reports of new US compromises were "categorically false."

"In addition to the nuclear constraints Iran would have to implement, the IAEA would again be able to implement the most comprehensive inspections regime ever negotiated, allowing it to detect any Iranian effort to pursue a nuclear weapon covertly," the official said on condition of anonymity.

"Much of that international monitoring would remain in place for an unlimited amount of time."

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), is a 2015 agreement that allowed Iran to curb its nuclear programme in exchange for relief from US, European Union, and UN sanctions.

Rishi said, "The situation in Iran is extremely serious and in standing up to [Vladimir] Putin we can’t take our eye off the ball elsewhere," The Sunday Telegraph reported.

"The European Union's proposals are acceptable provided that they provide assurances to Iran on various points, related to sanctions and safeguards," IRNA said.&nbsp;

The nuclear deal was signed in 2015 and Iran agreed to a pact with six major powers to limit its nuclear program. It was harder for Iran to obtain a weapon in return for relief from economic sanctions.&nbsp;

The ongoing EU-coordinated negotiations to revive the JCPOA started in April 2021. However, it came to a standstill in March.&nbsp;

In the latest development, the EU said on Tuesday that it expected Tehran and Washington to "very quickly" respond to a "final" text aimed at salvaging the 2015 deal.&nbsp;

Although Tehran denies it, but reports have stated that Iran is already enriching uranium to up to 60% fissile purity.

The level is far above a cap of 3.67% set under the now tattered nuclear deal which was signed in 2015. Uranium enriched to 90% is suitable for a nuclear bomb.&nbsp;

"Clear, decisive political decisions need to be taken by the capitals of the countries involved in the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action)," he said. "So, that's the process that is underway in Vienna. We hope it will lead to results."

The nuclear deal was struck between Iran and world powers in 2015 during the tenure of then US president Barack Obama. In 2018, however, former US president Donald Trump took US out of the deal.&nbsp;

Talks to revive the deal have been going on in Vienna without much of result till now.

AFP quoted an unnamed senior EU official, who said progress was being made on some remaining obstacles. This includes guarantees that the US won't leave the deal by going back on its word.&nbsp;

"We have now quite substantial guarantees," the official said. "It's my understanding that Iran is happy and feels satisfied with what is in the text."

A demand by Tehran that the United States remove the country's powerful Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps from the State Department's official blacklist of "foreign terrorist organizations" has been dropped from the discussions, the official added. It will instead be handled "in the future" — after the deal.

Borrell said, "We are expected to resume talks in the coming days and break the impasse. It has been three months and we need to accelerate the work. I am very happy about the decision that has been made in Tehran and Washington."

Amir-Abdollahian confirmed the resumption of the negotiations.

Amir-Abdollahian said, "We have had a long but positive conversation on global cooperation between Iran and the EU."&nbsp;

"We will try to solve the problems and differences through the negotiations that will resume soon," he added.

The Iran nuclear deal has been hanging by a thread since 2018 when then United States President Donald&nbsp;Trump unilaterally withdrew from the accord and began imposing crippling economic sanctions on America's arch-enemy.

The administration of incumbent US President Joe Biden has sought to return to the agreement, saying it would be the best path with the Islamic republic.

The talks began in April last year but stalled in March amid differences between Tehran and Washington, notably over a demand by Iran to remove its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps from a US terror list.

Iran-US nuclear talks to resume soon, says EU’s foreign policy chief

Iran remains "serious" about reaching a revived nuclear deal, said the country's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian as the talks between the parties in Vienna, remain stalled. While addressing a joint press conference on Thursday (June 23) with visiting Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, Abdollahian said that the nuclear negotiations "train has reached difficult stops" as they near the end.&nbsp;

Amir-Abdollahian stressed Iran was "serious about reaching a good, strong and lasting agreement" and called for similar realism from the US side. "I hope we can reach the final point of the agreement in the near future with realism from the American side," he said.&nbsp;

During his visit to Iran, Lavrov said that Moscow fully supports the revival of the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and major powers. Notably, Russia was a party to the original 2015 deal, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).&nbsp;

Iran has taken part in the on-off talks that opened in Vienna in April last year. Also, indirect talks between Tehran and US&nbsp;President Joe Biden's administration have been taking place to reinstate the pact.&nbsp;

The main agenda remains to bring&nbsp;Washington back into the agreement after former President Donald Trump's 2018 withdrawal.&nbsp;

Tehran's rulers are also struggling to keep Iran's economy afloat because of US&nbsp;sanctions that were reimposed after Washington exited Tehran's nuclear deal in 2018.&nbsp;

Lavrov told the news conference: "Today, with the other participants in the JCPOA... we are making every effort to repair the American error when the United States left the JCPOA."&nbsp;
