The incessant rains in Delhi-NCR resulted in airlines issuing advisories for passengers as many flights were affected. At least 10 flights arriving in the national capital were diverted, while eight were rerouted to Jaipur and two to Lucknow due to severe weather conditions.

Following the massive landslides in Kerala's Wanayad district triggered by heavy rainfall, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for July 31.&nbsp;

For July 31 and August 1, the weather department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated regions in the state. IMD has stated, "Strong Surface winds with speed reaching 30-40 gusting to 50 kmph likely to prevail occasionally over Kerala" on July 31.

Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargode districts have been issued an orange alert for severe weather conditions, while Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur and Palakkad districts remain in a yellow warning.

In an advisory issued on July 30, authorities have urged residents to avoid being in any vulnerable structure and going to water-logged areas and riverfront. It has also been advised to take shelter amid thunderstorms.

The coastal areas have also been advised to be on the lookout for any flash floods that may occur in the region due to severe weather conditions in the state till July 31.

Monsoon updates: Kerala to brace for more rainfall in the coming days after Wayanad landslides

As the intensity of the monsoon rains is increasing, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts heavy rains in North and Northeast India.

IMD issues yellow and orange alerts as heavy monsoon rains lash several parts of India

Monsoon winds have hit the south Indian state of Kerala on Thursday (May 30), two days ahead of the normal rain arrival. The monsoon also reached northeast India six days in advance on the same day.

Earlier, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had said on Wednesday that conditions were extremely favourable for the onset of monsoon season.

&nbsp;"Normal date (for the arrival of Monsoon in the northeast) was 5th June, but it arrived today. In Kerala, it was supposed to be on 1st June, but it arrived here on 30th May. The reason for this is that wind patterns were already established..." said IMD scientist, Dr Naresh Kumar.

Earlier on&nbsp;May 28, the rainy winds&nbsp;reached the South Arabian Sea and the Maldives region.

"The favourable conditions are expected to continue, facilitating further advancement of the Southwest Monsoon into more areas of the South Arabian Sea, the remaining parts of the Maldives and Comorin region, some parts of the Lakshadweep area, Kerala, additional areas of the Southwest and Central Bay of Bengal, the Northeast Bay of Bengal, and parts of the Northeastern states over the next three or four days," the IMD said.

Kerala was battered by heavy rains on Tuesday (May 28) as pre-monsoon showers disrupted normal life. Streets were inundated in several towns of the state, making it difficult for people to step outside. Severe water-logging was observed in the Kakkanad-Infopark and Aluva-Edappally areas. Heavy rains have been continuing in the Thiruvananthapuram district since Monday night.

Currently, a cyclonic circulation in the middle tropospheric levels is located over south Tamil Nadu and its surrounding areas. This may lead to widespread light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) over Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. 
 
Scattered light to moderate rainfall is also predicted in states like Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, and Karnataka over the next seven days.&nbsp;

According to the IMD, above-normal rainfall is expected this monsoon season, lasting from June to September. The seasonal rainfall across the country is predicted to be 106 per cent of the long-period average (LPA).

The weather agency in its bulletin said, "In northeast light to moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall very likely over the region during next 5 days. Isolated very heavy rainfall also likely over Arunachal Pradesh on 02nd &amp; 03rd August; Assam &amp; Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram &amp; Tripura during 1 to 3 August 2023."

South India:

In the south, Telangana witnessed heavy rains during the past week leading to damage to agricultural fields in several places. The department said that heavy rain is likely to occur at places in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Jayashankar Bhupalapally and Mahabubad districts from August 1.&nbsp;

The department predicted hot and humid weather in Tamil Nadu on July 31.&nbsp;
